Ben sheds walking boot
According to schefter Ben has shed his walking boot and is progressing way ahead of schedule.
Hmm...this IS an important game...

Hope he's healthy and can play.
Without Ben and Bell and possibly DWill (and Pouncy and Beachum and Shazier and etc) are the Steelers really that much better than the Browns? I don't think so.....
With a healthy Ben, I'd be pretty confident in a win this Sunday. Without him, it's a 50/50 toss up, fight for your life type of game, IMO.

I would let Landry start the game. If he plays like shit then bring in Ben if he's healthy.
That's a BIG if.

Dulac said there's zero chance he plays in his chat yesterday. Dulac is NEVER wrong!!!
Ben to practice today, per Twitterverse.

I am hoping the exclamation points denote sarcasm.

If Ben is healthy enough to play, he should start.
Why wait until Landry plays like shit and puts the team behind the 8-ball?
That puts Ben in a situation where he comes into the game against a defense that likely will be teeing off.

Agreed. Margin for error is very small. We have to win this game.

Ben Roethlisberger said he will practice today. Might be limited but he's trying to convince Tomlin he can play. Practice starts at 1

Any word on DeAngelo?
Laundry and a scrub at RB = loss
Need him to play to take pressure off of LJ.
Did I mention I have at man crush on Nix? Dude can play.

Williams apparently laughed when asked if he's playing Sunday.
That's a good thing.

FWIW, QBs are ALWAYS limited in practice. They don't take hits and are ultra protected. I say this because they list him as limited but I don't believe there's really any difference for QBs.

Doesn't it in some way reflect how many reps they may or may not have taken in practice as well?

maybe-- although I'd give Laundry more reps even if Ben was possible to play.

That said, Ben has to be able to play.
I'll take my chances with Landry Jones over a gimpy-like-in-the-2011-Niners-Game Ben any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Yeah but Frankenfoot Ben from Ravens game I would take over Laundry starting. I think we've clearly delineated the border between whether Ben should play or not.

Jeemie, I agree with you but that was on Tomlin. A player with a warrior like mentality like Ben sometimes needs to be protected from himself and that gamer mindset.

Well it sounds as if he'll have to be the gatekeeper again.
Of course- we'll still give him grief if he sticks with Landry Jones and the Steelers lose.

Unless he's sailing balls. Always go with the QB that's making less bloopers. If Jones is more accurate, I go with him. If they are about even then Ben. He has a lot of zip in his throws.
I'm pretty sure Ben could down 15 shots of tequila Sunday morning and still go out there and be more accurate than Jones.

If this team/coaching staff is incapable of beating the Cleveland Browns without Ben then they should all be cut/fired.
Let Landry progress, get the win, BR7 gets 2-3 weeks to heal. I'd make it 3 for sure as there is no way I'd put him out there against Seattle.

I don't think this ones as bad as that high ankle sprain injury. That foot back then was taped so high and thick it looked like a body cast. Im hoping he plays this time, I don't like our alternative options although I do think Landry will be better at home vs on the road in KC.

Ramon Foster on Ben Roethlisberger's day: "He and Landry (Jones) both did some work. Ben did more scout team, though." 7 listed as limited.

Roethlisberger looked better than I was expecting, but not good enough to play, in my opinion. Roethlisberger was limited participant 2day

It's not just Ben.
It's Ben, Pouncey, Bell, etc.

I agree, but Ben couldn't walk off on his own a week ago.
There is a difference between hurt and injured, and Ben has been injured for a while now. He wasn't 100% to begin with. If Landry is off, we would be able to tell quickly. I would say see how the 1st quarter goes. Hopefully the defense comes to play and takes the pressure off LJ early.
