Injury Front

Post by Steelafan77 » Mon Nov 04, 2019 12:53 pm

"Man, we had some injuries along the way: Trey Edmunds, ribs. Switzer, ribs. Rosie's aggravated his knee a little bit," Mike Tomlin told reporters in his postgame press conference. "All those guys will be evaluated. Hopefully, it won't prevent them from moving forward here next week. I know that we're going to need everybody because we just need to prepare ourself to be in battles like that. Such is life in the NFL. Nowhere to hide, man." https://www.dkpittsburghsports.com/2019 ... witzer-hh/

Seems like this team just can not escape injury this season. RB corps is a skeleton crew already, so this means Brooks-James is JaySam's back up? Holy shit! Nix is likely out for another stretch and switzer's injury is likely a blessing in disguise. My hope there is that they are finally forced to put someone else back there to return kicks/punts. Someone with some wheels that can make some defenders miss and not be taken down at first contact. A wish and a Prayer there, I know. Speaking of a wish and a Prayer, I wish Barron would get re-injured. I hate wanting to see players injured and I know it isn't right but this dude absolutely sucks bad. Anytime the guy is on the field shit goes south. He can't cover, can't tackle and combined with a SS with those same issues causes the middle of the defense to weaken even more. Get barron a one way bus ticket outta town please.

Agree Switz will be a blessing in disguise, as long as we only attempt returns with punts...I am thinking Johnson should be back there. Still need to do everything to make sure we take a knee on kickoffs.

Maybe injuries in totality will be a blessing in disguise. It forces this team’s collective back up against the wall where Tomlin seems to thrive. And it will force an otherwise stale and pedestrian game plan to change more than it normally would due to personnel.

I would correct your statement on Barron. Can’t tackle is incorrect. He doesn’t want to tackle is more appropriate. He is there usually at the play...he just likes to dance around while the lionesses bring the game down...then he sticks his head in and takes a bite and gets some blood on his mane. He is awful!

IR Switz and replace him with Holton returning kicks. It's got to be miles better than the scared rabbit switz

Shame about RB Edmunds. He looked very good. Waiting to hear how serious his injury is.

Our injuries look like Picket’s Charge. And yet, we’re at .500. Maybe this will get some reps for some dudes who would have stayed on the pine otherwise. Could be valuable for separating the sheep from the goats. That is, if MT can tell a sheep from a goat.

He may be the only guy to play for the Steelers that I’ve ever wished injury on.

Hope he breaks his freaking leg.
The Steelers are among the NFL’s worst teams in total offense (30th) and total defense (28th). Highest paid defense in the league by far. We are lucky to have Mike Tomlin.

I’ve been beating this drum to the people I watch the games with all season.

Guy plays with ZERO tenacity. I’d put old ass Jack Lambert in there right now over this pussy.

Hope he’s one & done as a Steeler.

Unlikely... akin to the team sticking by the almighty Chickillo come hell or high water, it will carry the Switzinator on the active roster through even a lengthy injury. Let us pray that Switz heals quickly.

Maybe Chickillo will get drunk again and accidentally mistake Switz for his girl and beat his ass.

Get both these turds off the team.

At this point I don't care which one is shown the exit. I prefer both but that would mean two positions in flux instead of just one. Relying on Gilbert III at backup ILB IMHO would be the easier of the two, or in this case the lesser of the two evils. Unfortunately I believe Switzer will be here longer than Barron will be.

The Switzer situation is a microcosm of what ills Mike Tomlin.

He ditches Dionte Spencer, who clearly showed to be the superior return man (by faaaaar) in part because he didn’t project moving forward as a WR.

And yet, somehow slow, weak, and undersized Switz does?

Switz is return man only at this point in addition to being an emergency receiver (help us all if that comes to be) but he couldn’t keep a kid that shown to have above the line return ability...

If I didn’t have as much to lose as I do I would Tonya Harding Switz’s knee cap myself.

@gerrydulac

Steelers have placed rookie ILB Ulysees Gilbert III on injured reserve and promoted LB Robert Spillane from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. Mike Tomlin said Gilbert has a back injury.

We have placed LB Ulysees Gilbert III on the Reserved/Injured List and promoted LB Robert Spillane to the 53-man roster. https://twitter.com/steelers/status/119 ... t-spillane
I guess this means Barron isn';t going anywhere for the foreseeable future.... :x

I think a silver lining is that we will get to see Robert Spillane on special teams for a while. If he plays great, he may push Big Red of the team next year, or Barron.

I'd wager that Big League Chew had a say in this.

I'll throw the AB comparison in the mix.

Johnson has proven to be at least a #3, or tied for #2. I'm not sure I want to risk losing a productive WR that so far has been tearing it up on offense. A conundrum for sure, but I wouldn't risk it considering how many injuries have occurred this year.
Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the pigeon is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.

Good point and he is definitely WR2...although with the production of the WR corp, he may get more yards in punt returns.

Sounds like they are getting ready to shake the kick returns up:

Saw that his numbers look pretty good. hopefully he can take advantage.
