My Final Steelers Mock 2016

Post by bradshaw2ben » Tue Apr 26, 2016 2:29 pm

Trying to pick guys I like but who fit the Steelers way of thinking.

1.25 SS Karl Joseph, West Virginia
I've been on this pick for a while now; the draft "experts" are coming around and now it's a popular pick. Great player, great tape, fits huge need.

2.58 OLB/4-3DE Charles Tapper, Oklahoma
Has the quick get off and power 5 pedigree they like in edge rushers. Is the best edge player in draft vs. the run- can hold the point on the edge and hold off double team inside. Add to that the sub 1.6 get off and the 4.59 combine 40 and what he showed as an edge rusher in limited opportunities... you get future starter at ROLB who can kick inside in nickel or run with every TE in the league in coverage.

3.89 DT Maliek Collins, Nebraska
Offers the dynamic pass rush and penetration but also has the base to be Steve McClendon like in early downs.

4.141 CB Rashard Robinson, LSU
Ike Taylor 2.0 but with ball skills. If the "smarts & hearts" part can be worked out, he's a future fixture at CB that gets tasked with the other team's #1.

6.220 CB Kalan Reed, Southern Mississippi
Double dip in CBs seems to be their winning formula. Reed is as athletic, talented, and toolsy as any CB in the draft

7.229 WR Ricardo Louis, Auburn
Getting a true 4.3 deep threat with size and power 5 pedigree, whose production was slighted by horrid QB play, would be a great move. Getting him in Round 7 is ridiculous.

7.246 OL Spencer Drango, Baylor Not the prettiest looking guy, but the kind of guy the Steelers love in OL. Can play all 5 OL positions, great run blocker, decent pass protector with long enough frame (6055 with 33" arms) to take some snaps on the edge.

I really wanted to take Malcolm Mitchell in there-- such a great fit with the Hines Ward comparisons. Just too many defensive holes.

Great stuff.

Qeustion: the LSU CB, is he the one that had some issue with coaches or something?

Could be a steal in the 4th.

Edit: nvm I googled it.

My un-educated 2 cents...if I may...

I like Joseph, but I still think he's overdrafted in the 1st. That said, he's not likely to be there at 58, so barring trade back...
I'm not crazy on Tapper. I know he checks all your workout number boxes, but the times I watched Oklahoma, he was just meh...Could be that his best football is ahead of him?
Collins is a good fit. A real good fit!
Regardless of where he's picked, 4th, 5th, 6th round, Kalan Reed will be the steal of the 2016 draft. I absolutely love the kids game. Hopefully he's in the Steelers crosshairs!
I agree, Spencer Drango has Pittsburgh Steelers written all over him.

Overall, I really like this one. I'm talking..."dance a jig in front of my TV" like!!!

I could really see Ricardo Louis as the next megaSPARQ WR running the Jet Sweep in Bryant's absence. I could see him him going earlier though, would be nice to pick up an extra 4 or 5 somehow.

I'd be happy with that. I think 1-2 of those picks goes earlier than slotted.
But that's what's fun about the draft you never know.

It'll be my contest entry. It has some similarities.

maybe although I went by nfldraftscout, which is generally not too far off at this stage
