Seeing Frankie win a wildcard game for the Jays, I'm thinking shit, Pirates lost 2 wildcard games and Frankie Liriano did not pitch in either, and we gifted Frankie and 2 prospects away to the Jays for nothing (Hutchinson) as basically a salary dump.
(This came up in the podcast)

There wasn't a worse pitcher for the Pirates prior to the trade deadline. Thanks to him for what he accomplished in Pittsburgh but I have absolutely no problem with getting rid of him when they did. And after the trade deadline our starting pitching was just fine.

Maybe Russ Martin had something to do with Lirianos success cause hes been fantastic since reuniting with Martin on the Jays.
