Haley did call a few good ones
Just when you felt the game slipping away at 14-7, the Steelers mounted a nice drive to regain a 14-point lead. That drive culminated with the TD pass to Green.
NBC dignitaries Dungy and that prick Harrison dissected the play for those of you who missed it.
Faked the WR screen to off all people Hamilton, Landon Collins bit and the rest was history.
Nice call ReTodd. Now start sending in plays that have Ben throwing past the sticks on 3rd down.

The grudging nature of this OP makes me laugh.

i was pleasantly surprised by that drive in that game situation, especially given that it started with a penalty
that was the drive with AB's toe drag as well, which along with the TD catch i hope gave pause to everyone bitching about the celebration penalties and hanging out with OBJ
singular fucking talent, that man is

I don't give a shit about who he hangs out with, but the penalties he has caused hurt the team, and it is perfectly acceptable to give him grief over that. He doesn't get excused for it just because he makes highlight-reel plays most of the time. Just because someone is great doesn't excuse them for a lack of discipline that can easily be rectified.
I'll get on him for dancing more than I'll get on him for dropping a pass or not making a play. No player makes every play. EVERY player can control himself when he knows he'll draw a penalty for something (even if the cause of the penalty is stupid).

From Chi's comment, I get the the sense of taking the good with the bad as a justification.
While to a point that's legit, I stand with Jeemie on this one.
All-World talent, sure...
...but it's still a team sport, and feeling the "need" to self aggrandize without giving a shit about how it damages the cause you and your TEAM are fighting for is the epitome of selfish immaturity.
Grow the fuck up, AB.
True greatness never has to toot it's own horn...
That said...the NFL needs to get rid of the celebration/taunting rule.
I agree that greatness doesn't need to toot its own horn, but laughing at a player who IMHO acts like an ass after he scores/makes a great play is punishment enough. The team doesn't have to be punished too.
Too many goddam rules in this game.

This over the hill guy loves this quote. Thanks for putting a smile on my face.
AB does not respect money. I've lost some respect for him because of it. It means more to him to shake his hips and wear non approved cleats to make a statement about himself than to blow tens of thousands of dollars. And no, I don't think painting a picture of arnold palmer on your cleats respects palmer. Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the pigeon is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.
Face it...AB, as good as he is, is a diva, a "ME FIRST" player. But just like Hines Ward, because he's a Steeler, most of us don't want to see it. Everything he does, on and off the field is about promoting his brand. This is why I'm not at all confident that he is re-signed when the time comes. "Show me the money!"
NHALS = NFL purgatory

This. I love me AB but if he does not change his act and he starts slowing down dropping balls etc, shit gonna get real around here.
All about self promotion.

People would want him benched for the dropsies even if he had Heath Milller's disposition.
PS catch the ball early and doubt Giants even get a sniff in this game. James, Bell and Green all dropped easy balls that would've resulted in 1st downs and extending drives. Giants didn't do a damn thing on 1st two drives other than breath. PS putting ball on ground stalled both opening drives. F all to do with Haley. Though some of his calls later in the game were fucking annoying.

And that's the brilliance of Ben, going right back to those guys with the dropsies, often on the very next play, to keep them in the game and not allow them to wallow.
Very impressed with that. Natural born leader. Thank God he's on our side.

no one would argue that he's a diva at this point, but there's a big gap between wearing flashy cleats and Terrell Owens-caliber locker room poison
he's 'hurt his team' to the tune of three admittedly stupid penalty flags...which came after three of his league-leading 11 TD catches
i'd like to see an end to the bullshit too, but you guys act as if he hasn't produced three 1500yd seasons to go along with it
let's keep some perspective here

again, let me know when he shows any sign of slowing or dropping balls
then you'll have an argument

For what it's worth, Gerry Dulac described Antonio Brown as one of the hardest working players he's ever seen.
I would imagine given that, and the what we see him do on the field, at the very least we can't describe him as lazy, or as anything but an amazing talent.
Sure he likes to celebrate, likes to self-promote... but he's a hell of a player.

A lot of get off my lawn in respect of AB.
He loves to celebrate and he wants the ball. It does not necessarily follow from these two qualities that AB is a "self-promoting, me first guy." It could be that he likes to have a good time on the field and he is an insane competitor who wants to help the team win by doing what he knows he can do.
Agree he needs to knock off the penalty celebrations.
Hines Ward had his me first complaint moments as I recall.

Hines' issues came "off the field" in terms of calling out Ben (concussion thing) and his contract
Hines' antics ON THE FIELD didn't impact his teams ability to win the football game being played. That's where my issue with AB lies. Dude is a baller, he works hard, probably the best player at his position, self promote and brand all you want. But don't do stupid shit that costs your team precious yardage

by the way, to the OP-- Ben called the play:

The Steelers were in the no-huddle offense, and Roethlisberger gestured toward Green with a hand signal. Green, the free agent addition who missed the first eight games with an ankle injury, digested the information and got wide open for one of the easiest touchdowns of his career.
“I saw something in the defense,” Roethlisberger said this morning. “[Landon] Collins is a really good safety and was biting on some screens. That’s a play … I don’t think he even ran that specific play yet. For me to call it and for him to flawlessly execute it just to me speaks volumes for the work he’s put in mentally. I don’t think he even got that rep physically, but mentally, to be able to do it, and be the actor, the fake block and make the play … That was just awesome.”
Great. I hope everybody from here on out focuses on Green as though he were Gronk. Excellent.bradshaw2ben wrote:by the way, to the OP-- Ben called the play:
