Yeah Porter's a douchebag.

This is why I was hoping they'd hire Greene instead.

I have not idea how true this article is but it has to be mentioned.

https://www.indianagazette.com/news/col ... ,25795230/

Joey Porter was a big problem.
He made a spectacle of himself at home and on the road, even though he was with his head coach at the time.
During a game at Riverside in October, Porter ran onto the field to badger the officials. Remember, he’s a Steelers assistant coach and only a North Catholic parent.
North Catholic was penalized 15 yards and the officials asked the North Sewickley police to remove Porter. According to eyewitnesses, Porter told the cops, “If you want me to leave it’s gonna take more than just you.”
The officers working the game had to call for extra help.
Porter finally calmed down when the referee threatened North Catholic with a forfeit.
Mike Tomlin was also at the game, but not involved in the disturbance. But Tomlin did, on at least one occasion, according to a witness, pay a visit to the North Catholic locker room and drop multiple F-bombs while trashing the officials.
And during a home game at J.C. Stone Field, Tomlin and Porter were less than cooperative with Allegheny County police when they were asked to move away from a fence where they were obstructing the view of some fans.
The game ended before the cops had to remove them.

Ouch. Well, I guess that's why Porter wasn't fired.

I think Joey hasn't grown as a person. He's still in that 20's rage, rah rah, bravado image.

We fucked up not bringing in Greene. A big mistake by Tomlin, another log for the Tomlin fire.

Wow, is this the Stiegerwald story i am hearing about? - edit, yep it is.

Seems it a lot of hearsay so far. I hope the press investigates this and makes Tomlin accountable.

Tomlin's behavior is nothing to write home about if that's true.

And yes...now the decision to not hire Greene and keep Porter is looking bad. Porter obviously has some anger issues.

Agreed re: Tomlin.

I didn't mention him because he won't be going anywhere any time soon.

I don't know...all these stories coming out, and the embarrassing game plan against New England?

If there's one thing Art Rooney II doesn't like, it's an image of a team out of control or doing a lot of embarrassing stuff.

He might not be fired, but I think there's a good chance that Tomlin's seat does get publicly warm now. I can't imagine the Rooneys are pleased.

I know some people aren't crazy about Steigerwald but he's never struck me as a Rob Rossi shit disturber type. I don't think he would print this unless he felt he had some very credible sources.

Maybe this stuff is why we haven't heard from EMR like he usually does after the season is over.

If EMR is true to his family respectability, these assholes have no clothes anymore, in-house politics and product preparedness on the field. Time to can sunglasses

What coaches are out there that would come right in and take over, if it comes to that?

I'd be shocked if Tomlin is going anywhere anytime soon even with this story out there. A real issue to me is assuming this is all true, Tomlin would have been well, well aware of Joey's proclivity for idiocy and getting into trouble BEFORE the South Side incident and stil kept him. Does not look like sound decision making at all.

Jeemie - we shall see. They are generally patient with on-field stuff, but you're right about off-field crap like this.

Anyone think Munchak could be the HC? I don't remember what he was like in Tennessee. Haley has HC experience too, but that's a big "pass".

Oh...and that this reported incident took place at Dan's alma mater?

That makes it worse. A hundred times worse.

If true, as I said.

The fan 93.7 just reported that Tomlin and Porter's kids are leaving North Catholic............I'll wait to see if that's reported in the papers.

Someone at the games must have video of this. Let's see if that surfaces

I love Joey Porter. The guy just entertains the hell out me. That said, he has no business being within 10,000 feet of the Steelers front office or coaching staff. That guy cannot possibly be put in a leadership/mentorship role and expect to have good results. He's an overgrown child, a powder keg, and a bit of a jackass. I can't say he's a very good coach either.

If Tomlin is now in buddy mode with Joey, that's not good for anyone. He gave Porter a couple days off for threatening a bouncer and a cop. This was almost a year to the day after he went on a field and starting jawing with opposing players. It's not how professional coaches should act. Now this comes out, which could all be 100% bullshit. The story is pretty much "a source said" and Steigerwald is an angry, bitter old fuck of a washed up sports reporter.

Isn't the Catholic fiasco regarding Porter old news? This came out already.

Tomlin dropped f-bombs in a locker room full of teenage males? Oh my.

I accidentally say fuck and shit in front of my toddler. Call social services.

I get the angst. I wonder about the proportion of it in relation to its object.

Oh, just wait until the national radio/tv guys who already hate Tomlin get a hold of this. It can't be too hard to track down the officials from NC games this year and see which ones got cussed out by our coaches. The article talked about all of the Steelers kids leaving NC when Gildon got fired. Those articles have been out for a while.

Don't be so sure. I won't get into specifics because of board rules but Steigerwald, in addition to having bad sports opinions, isn't really known for his journalistic integrity.

There's a reason he hasn't worked for a real paper in over a decade.

That same article is posted in the Indiana Gazette and in the comments people using their real names (I assume facebook) are stating that they witnessed these incidents. https://www.indianagazette.com/news/col ... ,25795230/

They also mention what an asshole Tomlin is in public when people speak to him.

Say this for John Harbaugh, he is always a gentleman in public. I have seen him many times and regardless if it's an adult or a child he always stops and says hello, takes a picture whatever. Two specific occasions. I was in a furniture store and saw Harbaugh and his wife. Several of the workers and other shoppers went up to him. He was friendly, took pictures and went on his way. I said to his wife, "Can't get away from it can he?" She said "It's ok. The fans are the ones who support the Ravens. He is glad to speak with them" Another time at his (And My) daughters lacrosse game, one of the other teams of 12 year old girls realized who he was and they walked over and asked if he would take a picture with them and he happily took pictures with all of them.

I'm damn near done with this team and the NFL altogether.

Haven't heard from his yet because his league mandated press availability isn't schedule until after the Super Bowl.

Interesting comment about the national guys. I get the sense local media generally like Tomlin whereas the national media isn't as fond. Kind of the reverse with Cowher where I sensed a lot of friction with local media but a love affair with national media.

Well, we'll at least be entertained.

So did Tomlin bad mouth officials in a locker room or in public / on a field?

I thought only Porter went full-blown retard.

Any I phone video? Has TV picked up on the story? Dan should be furious, I think he coached those young kids in the 60's.
