Here in the South…

Atlanta fans are all starry-eyed and Frank Capra about the upcoming Super Bowl. It’s got kind of a tragic-comedy quality. I don’t think I’m going to watch.

There is a LOT of film on Matty Ice and Julio by now. And the Falcon’s defense. The more film there is…the more data there is…the less chance they have against the Patriot machine. It’s utterly demoralizing. I suspect Matty will melt and the d will be dissected.

The NFL is not the source of joy it ought to be these days. Imo go drink some coffee and talk to Jesus.

Catch yinz after the draft.

The NFL would rather crown Atl as a first time winner.

League owners are still not kosher with Kraft and his sideshow

Nobody gave the Giants a chance nine years ago. Pretty much the same six years ago. The Patriots can be had. Hopefully the Falcons can figure it out. The Steelers sure as shit couldn't.

There is just not enough joy in “the team I hate most lost in the end.” Sorry. But I guess it’s something.

The bug-eyed fuck thought zoning Brady and the Pats all fucking day would work.

Have Jones elbow Butler in the fucking throat the first time he tries to press him, then hit him on a deep route. With Jones' size, I attack Butler physically all day.

Pretty much where I'm at...

And then I realized my wife & in laws are from ATL & they'll be having a watch party.

The only saving grace is me stuffing myself with smoked meat with sides of other smoked meats.

Do you see Atlanta's other receiving targets making enough plays to hang with Brady and co? Because Julio Jones is going to be on a milk carton.

Butler is at least a wash with Jones, talent-wise. I think the Falcons are going to have to win with their middle of the field targets, much like the Steelers where forced into last week.

Let me throw out this little nugget of offensive diversity on the ATL receiving front....impressive if you followed them this year. (te's all split time due to injuries)

RB Freeman 54/462 2 TD's 8.6 ypc 83.1 catch%
RB Coleman 31/421 3 TDs 13.6 ypc 77.5 catch%
WR Gabriel 35/579 6 TDs 16.5 ypc 70.0 catch%
WR Sanu 59/653 4 TDs 11.1 ypc 72.8 catch%
WR Jones 83/1409 6 TDs 17.6 ypc 64.3 catch%
TE Hooper 19/271 3 TDs 14.3 ypc 70.4 catch%
TE Tamme 22/210 3 TDs 9.5 ypc 70.1 catch% (on IR)
TE Toilolo 13/264 2 TDs 20.5 ypc 68.4 catch%

you also ot Hardy and Robinson also with 6 TD's and 500 yds an 11 ypc between them.

Matt Ryan has used all his weapons. Should be a good game if ATL spreads NE out and shreds em

Well, all I can tell you that to this day, I still shake the hand of every Giants fan I meet. The angst around these parts post-XLII was absolutely priceless. The Giants took a huge, steaming dump on the Pats nearly perfect season. And the fact that a Manning, the family every Pats fan despises, engineered the winning drive which included the miracle pass to Tyree was the fucking icing on the cake. XLII was my favorite non-Steeler win of all time. As you can tell, I still get excited about that game. My apologies that it doesn't do it for you.

Well hopefully Sanu and Co will hold on to the ball for those passes and not fumble. Regardless of what Ben said postgame, Rogers, Hamilton and Coates all came up small.

I've also called it my favorite non-Steeler win. I watched that game in a sports bar in Buffalo. When it ended, the entire bar full of Bills fans erupted into cheering an applause. We were all Giants fans that night.

And, as BethSteel pointed out in the NFL forum, Kyle Shanahan's backpack, which had his playbook, was stolen.

You know damn well the Pats have it...

He got it back. But not before the Pats were able to take pictures of each page of the Falcon playbook.

The line is suggesting to me that Atlanta has a decent shot- I would have thought it would have moved more towards new England, but a lot of folks must be betting the Falcons.

But I still think the Pats win.

Part of me is almost hoping they will just so see if Rooney actually cares that a piece of the Steelers' legacy will be eclipsed.

Dig if you will the picture...

The Atlanta Falcons stun the Patsies and hand them their third defeat in their last four trips to the SB...
Just how tits would that be, HUH?!

The Falcons have a diversity on offense of which he can only dream.

I will give Kyle Shanahan a huge edge over Todd Haley, though. Watching Atlanta's goal line plays and then ours made me want to cry.

Perhaps, but defense wins championships.
