Fuck 'em all..Martina McBride, Tommie Shaw, Hank Williams Jr
....fuckin' turncoats, all of 'em. Join Bill Cowher.
Is it just me or am I feeling an undercurrent of the south v north. Conservatism v liberal NE. Confederates v Union.
Conservative posters here have been extolling the virtues of TN and interior red states and how the NE and Cali are cesspools.
Am I reading into this? I don't mean to make this a political post. It just seems like it's brewing underneath after having read Preds boards and how they bash pgh and urban areas of the north.
And with that I give Nashville a resounding fuck you. Pens are going to take this series, and you rednecks can go back to crying to your country music.

Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the pigeon is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.

McBride was way off pitch several times in her anthem.
Even though I want the Penguins to win, its hard to hate on the Preds and the city, except for that stupid catfish thing.

I can't get my head around the idea that Nicole Kidman can tell anyone the difference between an F1 and a F3. Me thinks she is a great actress but a hockey poser.

I'm finding it VERY easy to hate on these fucks.

I now hate her with a passion and I have found a new love for Tom Cruise. Just watched A Few Good Men - one of the best movies I have ever seen, and the Cruise Nicholson scene is one of the top 5 scenes I have ever seen.
Nicole Kidman is a red headed fuck.

You can say fuck 'em and I'll be right there with you, but how are they turncoats?
Why should we assume any of them would or should have any loyalty to Pittsburgh?

She can't.
This is why I can "hate on them"...these celebrities are linking to the Preds' run for the show, anship, not because they understand hockey in the slightest.

'Cuz....we hosted them in our stadium, they wore our jerseys....now they're part of the effort to do us in??? Fuck that shit!! I know it's irrational...but rationality's overrated.

Plenty of us conservatives live in the Northeast and cheer for the Penguins.

Hank Williams is a typical half breed Steelers fan.
Hank Williams is a typical half breed Steelers fan.
Martina McBride & Hank Williams Jr know where their bread is buttered...and they know you don't shit where you eat.
We all know there's a few Steelers fans on this very esteemed board whose allegiances aren't 100% pure Black and Gold. I've always found the halfbreeds a confusing demographic, but hey, it happens.
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...

As DP39 pointed out, these particular people are "half breeds" (well, Hank Williams Jr. is) because of who they are and their relationship to the Nashville scene (wonder what would happen to Williams' Steeler fandom if the Titans got good again).
But Tommy Shaw and Martina McBride were never fans of any Pittsburgh sports team that I know of, so again, I may "hate on them", but I'm not seeing how they're "turncoats", either.
Cowher was a clear turncoat...his celebrity had nothing to do with North Carolina in any way, shape or form. And he made it worse by looking like a stupid fuck with that shit-eating grin while working the siren.

I know it's hard to believe but there are no hard and fast rules as to who you have to cheer for. I have lived the majority of my life in Rhode Island and cheer for all three Pittsburgh teams and the Celtics. I know a guy from here who cheers for the Steelers, Red Sox, Canadiens and Lakers. My problem is with the guy who changes teams throughout his life because the team he cheered for before had a period where they sucked.

There's also no hard & fast rules about who we call a Fuckin' Turcoat!! I could give a shit about Martina McBride. The Turncoat label best fits, IMO, to Tommie Fuckin' Shaw, who after wearing a Steelers jersey, being featured for a long time on pieces involving Renegade....not only plays between periods on Saturday night, but plays Renegade, to boot!!
Of course. Just like there are liberals in the south. I'm just highlighting what I see as a transformation of a political ideology contest into a cultural conflict. Nobody fucking cares about economics or politics when discussing hockey, yet chest thumping nashville fans want to make this about N v S, Liberal v Conservative since TN is held up as a contrast to liberal cities like NYC, LA, CHI.JackLambert58 wrote:COR-TEN wrote:Is it just me or am I feeling an undercurrent of the south v north. I'm all for gamesmanship and fan saber rattling - even catfish being thrown onto the ice - but it's become a different thing nowadays. What happened to the mayoral bets? Did that ever happen in hockey? Divisive politics has permeated culture, pitting one culture against another. It does in fact reflect the current societal conflict, though. /shrug.

I haven't seen anyone bring politics into the Stanley Cup Finals discussion save for you...but I don't go to other fans' sites so maybe it's happening there. Haven't seen it happening here, though.
As for mayoral wagers, of course there is one...it was reasonably well-publicized as I recall. Here's a link, though, in case you missed it.

So a musician was invited (and my guess, paid) to give a performance before a Steeler playoff game, and you equate that to the kind of loyalty someone like Bill Cowher should show?
So when he goes and performs that same song for Nashville as they take on the Penguins (again...I'm guessing he was paid to do so), that makes him a "fucking turncoat"?
You're right Swiss...yours is not a rational position.

I'm not exactly equating it to The Fuckin' Turncoat Bill Cowher in terms of scale, Jeems.....but it's rubbing me the wrong way, rationality aside.
That said....by now, Renegade, as far as its performance at sporting events, is clearly associated with the Pittsburgh Steelers. A rational position, IMO, would be for the Little Fuckin' Douchebag Tommie Shaw, if he must sing at the Predators game, to leave Renegade out of it.
Martina McBride is from Kansas. Hank Williams is from Louisiana. Tommie Shaw is from Chicago. Why would we expect any of them to be a Pens fan?
On the Renegade thing, I'd say that 95% of NFL fans I've talked to (mostly in Kansas City and Washington) have no clue that's associated with the Steelers.

I'm with Pabst, Swiss.
I bet most of the country does NOT associate Renegade with the Steelers.

Well....everyone in PIttsburgh associates Renegade with the Steelers, and The Little Fuckin' Douchebag Tommie Shaw is basically saying Fuck You to us by playing for the Fuckstick Predators. So again...Fuck Tommie Shaw!!

I'm thinking it is Styx who have to give permission for Renegade to be used at sporting events. Maybe Styx are the fuckin' turncoats.
And where are our celebrities? Donnie Iris, George Benson, Michael Keaton, Jeff Goldblum, Christina Aguilera, Zachary Quinto, Demi Moore, Kurt Angle. It was nice to see Ben at a game.

We need to get Wild Cherry out of retirement or whatever state fair they're playing at to turn this thing around.
