Butler bangs head against wall
The final drive was an abomination. No twists on the defensive line to create traffic and junk in Brady’s face, and NO JAMMING OR BRACKETING OF GRONK??? Are you fucking kidding me??? Fire him tomorrow. What a joke. Never should have come down to the refs stealing it from us.

On that drive I was screaming to let them score. What's more likely, the Steelers manage a FG on the ensuing possession or they stop NE from scoring a TD with 2 mins left (4 down territory)?

Played man press, sacked Brady, and Davis nearly sealed the game.
Final series may have been bad, but Butmer did exactly what we've been screaming for.

That's because Butler is a 'Great Value' version of Dick LeBeau, who's archaic zone defenses will win you some regular season games, but typically, fail vs Brady and Rogers and any QB who has patience.
Butler is a LeBeau crony, who hung on endlessly, waiting for Dick to retire or croak, so Duece was forced to fake retire LeBeau, and promote the company, "things remain the same" strooge.
The defense needed a fresh perspective, not the tired out, archaic zone scheme.
Should've hired Wade Phillips.

This was the most puzzling aspect of Butler’s game plan yesterday.
Gronkowski was the only Pats’ weapon doing ANYTHING...and Butler stubbornly refused to put help on him.
I’d love to see the All 22 to see what the Steelers were doing elsewhere on defense.

Except provide help on Gronkowski.

How do we know that wasn't a missed assignment?

I still can't believe how far back Mitchell was playing on those 15-18-20 yard seam passes right down the middle to Gronk.
Insane.
Twice on that last drive.
Not only was he playing deep....
He was still 5-10 yards behind Gronk when he made those catches.
A good safety breaks up those passes.
Did they double or bracket Gronk at all yesterday?
He was the only guy that was going to hurt us in the passing game.
How are they not playing a man over the top of him.
Failure on game planning to stop Gronk.
They needed a LB to bang him at the line and Davis to be playing 5-7 yards behind to pick him up after he got banged by LB.....
We chose free release and single coverage.
Utter failure.

Actually they had Davis up on him a lot...Gronk more often than not got off on a free release through moves.
I thought Davis did as well as he could being left on an island much of the game...there were times he had great coverage and Brady just made a fantastic throw.
I would love to see the All 22 on this game to see how Gronk was played.

Could have been...was a LOT of missed assignments, then.

Davis was abused all day.
If that's the best he can do, the Steelers need a cover safety, which they do.
Davis was supposed to be "so athletic" but I have yet to see, how that translates to the field.

Could Davis be playing hurt? He was injured earlier in the year. Maybe that’s why he’s playing so slow.

Yes, he's been playing hurt most of the season.
What's the recovery time for healing ones pride?
I don't know why.
But every time the camera pans to Butler.
This image pops in my head.

Good post and bang on. Mitchell is fuckin useless. P.O.S., adds NOTHING to the defense. On the positive side Dupree played a decent game, which I did not think he was capable of (after one of the worst performances I have ever seen against Baltimore) so there's that.

I actually think he looks like he is 2/3's of a way through a bottle of Jack
