Re: plan for in-game injury to the kicker
This a dumb thread. You hire the best guy at kicking that you can get and the best guy at punting that you can get. You don't hire someone that is not quite the best but can do both in the 0.1% chance that a kicker gets hurt. Where in the thread is this crossover signing being advocated? What's dum...

Re: Steelers signed K Josh Lambo, formerly of the Jaguars.
It’s not Tomlin’s fault? Really? yertle-the-turtle coach    Yes he is responsible for the play call but not the injury. I doubt if I will change anyone's mind but here is my thinking on this. If I lend my car to someone and they get into an accident, is that my fault because I lent t...

I agree. I posted earlier in the thread that most teams have designated backup kickers. Not to mention long snappers, holders etc. Not the standard for Pittsburgh. If you will...

Re: plan for in-game injury to the kicker
15 years ago. I believe it was the last play of Flutie's career. The last one before him was 1940's. The dropkick was pretty much phased out when the shape of the ball changed.
Placekicking and punting are different skills. Only one is kicking off the ground. Crossovers are a rarity.

Re: The Steelers are a Lombardi contender
At the beginning of the season I saw us on the fast track to Nowheresville. Now via incremental but real improvement I'm thinking, Why not us? Look what happened to the so-called best team in the AFC yesterday who had in its previous game demolished the last week's so-called best in the AFC. Don't g...

Re: Najee Revisited
For as trash as the line was from the beginning of the season, he was getting a pass there from me. Hell, they even found him on repeated short passes to get the rock in his hands early on, and as the line has jelled a little, he's gotten more handoffs. Not sure where folks were getting JAG/poor ca...

I omitted poor vision! LOL Guys on their basement couches can see cutback opportunities that Najee can not. They and he are neck and neck for the Playoffs and Pro Bowl right now.

There was that, but there were also those claiming his effort/performance were subpar for someone drafted in any round. He improves every game. If the Steelers get five years out of him--seems the ceiling given his current use--the pick couldn't have been better. And, yes, I fully understand the usu...

Najee Revisited
I haven't seen much lately from those bemoaning the first round selection of JAG Najee Harris. Slow, not powerful enough, can't catch, can't block, low energy. Where you at Fake Colberts?

Re: Door slammers Wk 8 Browns
Joe Schobert was the guy that made the definitive door slamming play yesterday with that forced fumble. The Browns were about to score there, and Schobert came through, with an assist from Watt in making sure that didn't happen. I think locking up Schobert long term should be on the short list of t...

It's a logical fallacy to judge the worthiness of a decision by the result. Forgive me, I can't recall the Latin name but here is an explanation from a guy a lot smarter than i (and you): "The takeaway is that you can’t tell the quality of the decision you are making by the outcome that will be prod...

Re: Does the Big Ben Revenge Tour start today?
I think #7 is going to have a little something extra for these cocksuckers from Cleveland today. Ben has shown plenty of arm strength. The problem has been his chemistry with the receivers. With the o-line playing a little better and Najee a weapon both as a runner and a receiver (we're going to ru...

Re: Other games during the bye week 10/24
And that is why I continue to say Lamar will never win a super bowl. He is very effective when the other team has to worry about stopping the run. But let the Ravens get into a position where the other team doesn't have to worry about the run and can just focus on stopping the pass? Forget about it...
