Re: No 5th Year for Harris
My guess is Harris' agent actually floated the "rumor" that Najee asked not to exercise the option, to save face. Because I don't think PIT was going to exercise the option, as it likely would be well above his market value. Harris sees the writing on the wall - in danger of losing his starting spot...

Re: Noteable stats
Do you think Ryan Tannheill of 2019-2020 was a viable QB? They targeted the #2 WR 25 more times in the entire season then vs what he did in Atlanta. So, yes, the target distribution was better but it wasn't exactly the 2000 Rams. And any inclination Arthur Smith MIGHT have to run a somewhat modern ...

Re: Pick 3.84 Michigan WR Roman Wilson
Last year in ATL, the #2 WR had 18 catches! The #3 WR had 13! In 2022, ATL’s #3 WR once again had 13 catches, and their #2 WR had a whopping 40-catch season. Even back to the Titans, Corey Davis managed 43 & 50 Rec as the WR2, but their best slot receiver had 23 his best of the two years. So you're...

Re: Pick 3.84 Michigan WR Roman Wilson
Yeah... 60 would probably be high. Right now, there's no one to replace DJ. Unless Austin suddenly takes a leap, the only way Roman doesn't catch 50+ is if he's not as good as advertised. Where else are those targets going to go? If Roman starts week 1 - and I don't know how he won't at this point ...

Re: Chark off the market
Wilson is at best, the 3rd best QB in his own division and by far the oldest. He did have a nice bounce back year in 2023, but the Steelers aren't serious Super Bowl contenders. We will see what happens with Fields, but this is something very, very different than a Mitch Trubisky situation. Fields ...

Re: Chark off the market
You don't consider putting Fields on the KR team if there's even a remote expectation he could beat out Wilson.
The chance they plan on trying to make Fields Slash 2.0 are considerably higher than Fields being the starting QB.

It's almost as if Tomlin wanted to spread teams out, but still insisted on throwing primarily outside the numbers.

Re: Off-season theory - What if...
Wilson played QB at a very high level for a long time in this league. The idea that he won’t by the RS be able to call plays is just laughable. Almost as laughable as Kenny Pickett becoming anything. Or maybe he mailed it in just collecting paychecks and never put the effort in to master the playbo...

Re: Chark off the market
Yes, Wilson is on a one-year deal and Fields was practically free. Nice, convenient option value when you had no 2nd or 3rd string QB on the roster. So I don't think there was any grand plan to make Fields a starter. It's only after CHI dropped the asking price, to basically nothing, that they took ...

Re: Chark off the market
You really don't think that Justin Fields will be QB for much of this year and almost certainly the following season? I don't think for a second that they traded for Fields to watch him leave after this upcoming season. Multiple reports, basically confirmed by Pickett, that Wilson was promised the ...

Re: Off-season theory - What if...
I been reading it as: Tomlin is retiring or moving up in the org or going to TV after the season, so they are pulling out all the stops to win in what is possibly his and Cam's last year. It might even be AR2's last year. Have they really gone "all in"? Maybe some of the moves are a bit out of char...

Re: Chase Claypool Signs
Should be, but wasn’t for Tomlin. Why? He was the Johnny Bravo of coaches when the Steelers hired him. He fit the suit. It’s taken Ben’s retirement and 17 years, but the truth is finally coming out. There is a reason the man has no coaching tree. No one learns anything from him because he can’t tea...

Re: Chase Claypool Signs
If ownership isn’t questioning the coaching at all levels at this point, they need new ownership. I was going to say why hasn't Tomlin made a move at WR coach when the underperformance there has been evident for YEARS. Son of a bitch....Doesn't inspire confidence, but at least a change was made (an...

Re: Justin Fields - kick returner?
This tells me more than anything, in addition to Rooney talking about needing to start winning playoff games, that Tomlin is on the hot seat. This runs counter-intuitive to the pursuit of NHALS. Tomlin would never risk his backup QB in this way, as losing your backup QB could put NHALS in jeopardy. ...

Re: Chase Claypool Signs
Claypool has absolutely zero interest in playing football. Yeah, that was a giant red flag. I'm not sure you could have found it in diligence or interviews, but after joining the Steelers I raised an eyebrow where he said his love was hockey and didn't seem that passionate about football. Whatever,...

Well, I hope Meyer is the right guy for the job. No excuses, now. I suppose other than "bunch of rookies and new faces".... Although I really do feel if they don't win a playoff game this year, the entire coaching staff will be gone. So this season really has no downside - Glass is fucking FULL. How...

Re: Pick 3.84 Michigan WR Roman Wilson
I think the misunderstanding is that most believe that Art Smith has been hired to run Art Smith’s offense. Actually, Art Smith has been hired to run Mike Tomlin’s offense. Just like every other OC before him. The most optimistic we can hope for is Smith will be a little more dynamic and, perhaps p...

Re: Pick 3.84 Michigan WR Roman Wilson
Or Art Smith already does what Tomlin wants so maybe Tomlin will stay out of his hair a bit more. Given the current trends in the NFL, at some point in the near future, the 95 Cowboys offense might just make a deep push. We could be nearing the broken clock singularity of Tomlin correctness. ...

Yeah, if you're going to use that kind of an argument... KC loves Roman Wilson. Don't know about KC's record except for with Pickett. Well Cotchery was pretty good for the Steelers. Mason Rudolph Isaac Redman. :D And not KC, but the "board" biggest miss might be Mapletron  Soft like syrup

Re: Pick 1. 20 Troy Fautanu OL Washington
I could get behind some bully ball. Problem is Meyer again took half a season to get those guys together. First year can be excused, but the second year with almost all the same guys is a major point of concern. Although I suppose if they round into a mauling machine a slow start doesn't matter. Pre...

I don't understand why these students think what they're doing is going to accomplish anything. That's where I was last night: hoping for a trade down. Such a deep draft where you can get another pick? Hell yes Still open to a slight trade down in R2 FWIW, ESPN or someone had a former HC/GM on and they said "yeah, we always wanted to trade down, there was just no one ever there". And it makes...
