Re: Week 8

Dan Mullen could be a name, though I suppose not for Florida.

And Drama, I agree the onstage, live pity party for Franklin struck me as odd, and didn't totally smack of journalistic integrity.

I'd be unsurprised if he ends up at UF.

Ssshhhh... pretty sure he's got a "coach in waiting" handshake deal in Columbus, though.

Re: Week 8

Some say Arvell Reese is just a made up name so Jeremiah Smith can play defense.

On a more serious note, it's getting more fun by the week watching Julian Sayin play football.

Carnell and Arvell can both come to Pittsburgh.

Re: While We Wait For the Icy Hot Bowl, Jordan Reid's (ESPN) first mock draft

So here's my only issue with "let's not draft another QB and hope AR will commit in an orderly and timely fashion." Will he continue to be the good citizen in Pittsburgh? After the Steelers go through the draft process and don't acquire a "top" asset at QB? I'm less enamored with the class than I wa...

I was totally surprised by Heintschel. Made for a really entertaining afternoon on Saturday. I watched the whole blowout, not ashamed to admit. After the season to this point, I felt I deserved it. My aunt in Shadyside listens every Saturday (and to the Steelers every Sunday) on the radio, and we sh...

Re: A A Ron season at risk in Jones vs Garrett matchup

Ball's going to be out before Garrett can get there on 90% of pass plays. If he wants to beat up Rodgers, he's likely going to have to take RTP penalties to do it. The good news for him is, PFF will probably add them to his awesome, game-breaking, totally shows up on the field and the stat sheet all...

Maybe Steelers can bring Flacco in next year, that way he makes his way to every North team.
See, I was going to say the Bungles should've traded for Kenny so he could've had the AFCN Hat Trick (and garnered yet another team a 5th round pick).

I'd love Franklin the Turtle in State College for life, too, but I'd be surprised if he makes it till next season. They pushed it all into the pot this season. Is this this the beginning of the end for Franklin?
Not being able to get his team motivated to beat an 0-4 team with an interim HC on the road coming off that Oregon loss is crazy pills.

Yeah, bad news definitely got worse in Happy Valley this afternoon. Outplayed, and outcoached by an interim head coach and a sophomore sports medicine major looking OC. Not a good look for Franklin.

The Jacksonville Jaguars fall into this category, as well. 3-1, and living and dying off an even more outlier than the Steelers' turnover margin at +9.

Now do "record in games where his team was favored by 7+" or "record vs. backup QBs." Hey, bye week, keeps the discussion going.

I don't think you recover from a defense that's been exposed. Think Steelers 2001 and how that great season fizzled, thanks to LeBeau. Ravens recovered from a defense that had been exposed, just last year. Their schedule is an absolute murderers row early, and eases up at the end, where the Steeler...

Re: Bye week is Omar Time

I think we think the WR2 position is more important than the Steelers do. Maybe Rodgers' input changes that math, but I wouldn't bet the farm. Also, as previously mentioned, prices are going up as MUCH more important players (Nabers, to name one) are getting hurt and potential candidates (T. Hill) a...

Pierre definitely did alright in spot duty last week, but the depth of having Porter and Trice (until he gets injured again) is going to be helpful against those Bungles receivers, no matter what schlub is throwing to them, and we have a bad habit of losing to schlubs. Hell, we almost did it last we...

it's ridiculous and Freiermuth literally looks like he's checked out. I think they might be looking at EDGE early in next year's draft, possibly with whatever ammo is left after going out and getting the QB, though they might be able to sit right where they are and pick Allar. Muth in a trade makes a little sense. His name recognition trumps his actual value to the te...

Re: 2 weeks to plan

Roman Wilson was a terrible draft pick. Time to move on. Trade Highsmith for a 2/3 WR; ask Rodgers who he wants. Long season, and being 3 deep with quality EDGE is one of the few depth pluses we have. Add into that the fact that Watt's not exactly looking 100% already and I think I err on the side ...

Re: 2 weeks to plan

I'm going to agree that it's a familiar film, but the QB play has been better than anything we've seen for awhile, and the defense is showing signs of life, as is the OL and running game. Injuries really starting to mount at DB, though, as I thought Ramsey was looking pretty good up until this point...
