Visiting training camp

Post by Legacy User » Thu Jul 24, 2014 2:17 pm

I was considering going to training camp this year. I have a 4 & 5 year old, just curious if there is enough going on that I can keep kids of that age interested long enough. I know they have a fan zone, but have never been & wasn't sure what to all to expect. I'd hate to make the 2 hour trip for the kids to just get bored after a half hour. Worth the trip, or wait until they're a little older?

Personally, I'd wait until they are older. The fan zone is OK but geared for a little older. I took a son once when he was 9 and he had a blast. Enjoyed the fan zone and got some autographs but he also knew or watched a lot of games and recognized some of the players. Unfortunately, the kids get pushed out of the way a lot when the players are coming up the hill by adults trying to get everything in their house signed.

The afternoons can be hot which can suck for the little ones.

Just my opinion.

Unless they already like football, you'll probably end up not being able to really watch practice. The fan zone and kids' stuff is actually across the road from the practice fields, so it's not really feasible to let the kids run around while you watch practice. You can take coolers, chairs, etc. in with you, so you might be able to buy yourself a little uninterrupted practice-watching time via snacks and games/toys and such.

330.
made the trip out to camp two years ago. nice experience.
my boys were a lot older than your kids....it may be tuff to keep the young ones interested,,,and
it gets hot there.
you may want to consider this Friday ......which is the Friday night practice......that is listed above in 77s post
during the day they have a bunch of vendors set up outside the stadium....food. games. things for little guys. face painting. etc....
and then the practice at night.
its also probably the best opportunity to actually meet a lot of the players...and get some autographs.....as the players walk up to the fence around the stadium......if you do go that night.....gt a spot at the fence about an hour before the practice.

then if you stay over.....you can always go into the Burgh in the morning and back to the saturday practice that afternoon

Very few things are more pathetic than a grown man clamoring for position with kids so another grown man can write his name on something for you.

What's the term.....smh?

There was a group of maybe four guys in their early- to mid-20s there carrying duffel bags full of uninflated footballs and mini helmets and such trying to push their way in and reach over top of all the kids to get the stuff autographed (presumably so that they could then sell the autographed memorabilia at a huge markup).

They are the worst people.

Never understood the infatuation with having someone write their name on something for you...unless it's a check.
