Seat Warmers
Instead of your regular program post game door slammers....
We need to start the seat warmer segment
It’s long past the time that Tomlin and his stubborn arrogant outlook on this team become a thing of the past

The main points :
Joe Starkey: If this doesn’t warm up Mike Tomlin’s seat, what will?
To some, the mere notion of moving on from Mike Tomlin seems ludicrous.
I’ll tell you what’s ludicrous ...
• Giving up 28 first-quarter points to the Cleveland Browns in a playoff game.
• Giving up 533 yards to the Los Angeles Chargers, then admitting you failed to make any meaningful adjustments.
• Giving up 40-plus points in back-to-back games for the first time since 1989.
• Going to overtime against Geno Smith.
• Nearly blowing a big fourth-quarter lead to the Chicago Bears.
• Allowing 229 rushing yards to the Detroit Lions, then admitting you were out-coached by Dan “Kneecap” Campbell, who had never called plays until that day.
• Failing to win a playoff game for five straight years, the longest streak since Bill Austin coached here. That’s what will happen if these Steelers do not win a playoff game — and if you think they will, I have some beach-front property in Wilmerding I’d love to show you. By the way, that streak included the early Chuck Noll era, when the Steelers were the most pathetic franchise in football — though probably not bad enough to tie the 2021 Detroit Lions.
• Tying the 2021 Detroit Lions.
• Refusing to bench Devin Bush even though everybody knew he was playing terrible football coming in — and he continued to do so. Oh, did he ever, to the point where ex-Steelers nose tackle Chris Hoke said this on the KDKA postgame show: “It seems to me he’s playing with no heart out there. There’s no effort. Really, right now, you’re playing with 10 guys on the Steelers
• Losing three consecutive games to the Bengals for the first time in 31 years.
• Losing to the Bengals, 41-10, on Sunday in maybe the most humiliating regular season game of the Tomlin era.
I mean, seriously, how bad does this have to get before Tomlin’s seat at least becomes lukewarm, or even room temperature?
Why should it just be assumed that he is coach for life?
I’m not saying he should be fired even if his team collapses for the fourth consecutive season, or if it merely misses the playoffs. But why in the world did Art Rooney II give him an unusually long, three-year contract extension last spring after the third straight collapse?
Tomlin is a good coach. He won his 150th game earlier this month, becoming the fourth-fastest to that mark, faster than anybody not named Don Shula, George Halas or Curly Lambeau. That’s elite company. But sometimes a good coach no longer is the right coach for a particular team. Look at Mike McCarthy. His resume is similar to that of Tomlin, whom McCarthy beat in a Super Bowl.
Yet the Packers fired McCarthy and are better off for it. They’ve been to consecutive NFC title games. McCarthy also appears to be doing OK in his new surroundings (recent results notwithstanding).
Tomlin’s quarterback is fading. His running game, despite all the promises to fix it, still stinks. The Matt Canada offense is hard to watch, featuring all those short-of-the-stick passes.
The big offseason experiment of moving Chuks Okorafor to left tackle blew up in Tomlin's face, and now that job has gone to rookie Dan Moore, who is a disaster in pass protection. He should have been credited with a quarterback hit on Ben Roethlisberger’s second interception he got driven into the quarterback’s arm so fast.
The defense is worse. And make no mistake, that is Tomlin's defense, not Keith Butler's. It’s an abomination, beginning with Bush, whom Tomlin said would be the “quarterback” of the unit when they moved up to draft him 10th overall. How Tomlin can keep starting him and look his players in the eye is beyond me.
Bush might be the least-physical inside linebacker in Steelers history. Not that Joe Schobert will remind anyone of Mike Singletary. He gets knocked out of the TV screen more than "Survivor" contestants. But at least he makes a play once in a while.
“We can’t keep playing like this,” T.J. Watt said. “It’s absolutely embarrassing.”
So was the false bravado at the end. Tomlin kept Watt, Cam Heyward and Roethlisberger on the field in a 41-3 game. Give me a break. The Bengals took out their players. What’s the point of keeping yours in? To prove how tough you are?
Of course the players wanted to stay in. That’s not the point.
“(It shows) a team’s character,” Roethlisberger said, “their will, their heart.”
Please. The time to show all that was three hours earlier, before the Bengals raced to a 31-3 halftime lead. Before Joe Mixon smashed the ball down your throats on 20 first-half carries.
The Bengals have become what the Steelers want to be.
If anything, the Steelers gave more credence to the Tyler Boyd theory that they quit the last time the two teams played. The worst part of the rematch was that Tomlin emphasized the importance of it all week long, basically labeling it a playoff game.
It looked like one, actually — the one from last January at Heinz Field.
Only worse.

And at the end of the day, nothing will change. Everyone is comparing this to the 80's, the 80's teams never went this long without winning a playoff game. So technical, this is worse.

We are finally at the end of an era where even the blindest of fans can cite Tomlin never having a losing season, or the wild claims of him being a top 5 coach that other teams would kill for, as an excuse as to why we shouldn’t part with him. Without someone else to build his team, savvy coordinators to design a game plan, and a HOF QB able to throw 50 yard bombs, we have a “leader” at the helm that possesses the aptitude and ability of that of Hue Jackson.
We are now armed with enough knowledge to know that, even if the O-Line was fixed, even if Roethlisberger was given more control of the play-calling, and even if we weren’t plagued by injuries on defense, we would still have Tomlin choosing to punt on 4th and a centimeter when down by 10 points with 2 mins remaining. We would still have our “coach” going for 2 when it is completely unnecessary. That same leader would hire inept coordinators to ensure that he doesn’t expose his own inabilities any more that is already blatantly evident to most. The use of the challenge flag? Need I even say more?
It’s time for Rooney to step up or for Tomlin to simply step down. This is an embarrassment with no end in sight as long as Cool Daddy Shades is allowed to continue turning everything into shit that he touches. If we're being real, it's been this way since the beginning with him. It's just never been more obvious than it is right now

This one is a salvo, it’s the night of the long knives

https://fansided.com/2021/11/28/mike-to ... n-bengals/
Mike Tomlin just punted on the Steelers’ season, literally
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ season may hang in the balance against the Cincinnati Bengals, and Mike Tomlin doesn’t seem to give a damn.
Facing a three-touchdown deficit in the second quarter against the division-rival Bengals, Tomlin opted to punt on a very reasonable fourth-and-1 after a Steelers third-down play came up just short.
Surely, with one yard potentially separating the Steelers from a rally, Tomlin would show some faith in his team in the trenches, no? Wrong again.
Pittsburgh faced a similar deficit to the Los Angeles Chargers last weekend entering the fourth quarter, but that doesn’t mean this Steelers offense — with an aging Ben Roethlisberger leading the way — can be relied upon to make up that sort of ground on a regular basis.
Steelers: Mike Tomlin gives up on team
Tomlin’s clock management and game management have always been questionable at best, but surely he can’t be this bad at playing the odds.
The Steelers’ issues don’t end with a blowout at the hands of the Bengals. One look at the second half of Pittsburgh’s schedule shows a team that may once again be facing collapse. And this time, they didn’t start the year a shocking 11-0.
The Steelers’ usual stingy defense has been anything but that the last few weeks. T.J. Watt is back from injury, and Minkah Fitzpatrick is at full strength. So, what’s the deal? Other than coming up short once again, the Steelers look ill-prepared for a game Tomlin intentionally outlined as all-important during weekly press conferences.
An early-season four-game win streak gave way to a lackluster tie to the winless Lions, and then a loss in Los Angeles. Now, a blowout at the hands of Cincinnati threatens to put Pittsburgh in the AFC North cellar. And what’s next? How about matchups against the Ravens, Vikings, Chiefs, Titans, Browns and Baltimore again to close the year.
Yikes. Perhaps Tomlin is already preparing for the first early-round draft pick of his career

You don't have to go back that far. 2003, 1999 and 1998 will do. 1999, Cowher's Steelers were swept by a Bengals team which accounted for two of Cincinnati's three win that season.Stlcrtn1974 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 12:38 amAnd at the end of the day, nothing will change. Several times when the camera panned to him during the game, he had the look of a man with no plan and someone that was being exposed as the incompetent that he is and always has been. Rooney owes it to the fanbase to stop the bleeding. The wound can't heal with Tomlin and his lack of leadership, lack of strategy, and lack of solutions.

It's the same look we've seen for the past 6 weeks and more. Tomlin, on the sidelines, is like a little league coach. He claps his hands, high-fives, and pats butts. He's a glorified cheerleader, not a leader. The guy has no fire, no plan, and no ability to think on his feet.BethlehemSteel wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 1:16 amAnother quality post

Mediocre streak, fewest coaches in the last 50 years, players going in the hall of fame....you notice how there's more talk about history with this organization than actually being a SB contender? It's like when anyone brings up how much they suck right now, the conversation always goes back to history. Super Bowl contender stopped being the goal several years ago. Even the majority of fans are just happy talking a selfie with Steeler gear on and quoting Tomlinisms. The team is as soft on the field as the expectations have become and those expectations are set but the Rooneys who became the softest owners in the league at some point. Art #1 must be rolling over in his grave. Is there a young Rooney in the organization that's going to take over soon and get this thing back on track?
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”
He's turned into Richie Kotite, Bruce Coslett and Jim Hasslet. A guy out of his depth and no idea how to correct the ship's course. He's the smartest guy in the room...

Only worse.

So this is the person with actual football acumen.RemoAZ wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 1:57 amMediocre streak, fewest coaches in the last 50 years, players going in the hall of fame....you notice how there's more talk about history with this organization than actually being a SB contender?

Right now Tomlin is writing up his Tuesday cliches to parallel how bad browns and ravens are and that the Steelers just need to make a few tweaks
The press collectively need to start throwing meatballs at him with extra sauce. Only a few of town criers will go on record about his folly
....not meatball questions. Real meatballs

I mean MT has moved on from the well developed line of BS to flat out lying through his teeth
The process and results don’t reconcile.....bs. They do 100%
Listen to the answers. You’re too stupid and arrogant to admit you’re overmatched

Since 2018 Matt Nagy has won 32 games as the bears HC. Made the playoffs twice and went 0-2. Since 2018 Mike Tomlin has won 34 games as Steelers HC went to playoffs once and went 0-1.
One is on debatably the hottest seat in NFL, and the other is considered a top tier coach in NFL. I’m not saying Tomlin is as low as Nagys level but I’m just highlighting that what is considered futility for other organizations is somehow considered success in Pittsburgh as of lately…

I rarely post on this board, but read it regularly to help confirm there are others out there as diehard as I am for this team. The board confirms it.
This article is spot on. As most have said, nothing will change, at least anytime soon. We will be lucky to win one more game this year (maybe vs the Henry less Titans). The battle cry will then move from "No losing seasons" to "One losing season out of......". Then next year "Only two losing seasons out of.....". We are not going to be relevant any time soon no matter where we pick in next years draft. We are years away from doing anything and so long as MT is at the helm.....what you see is what you get.
We have all seen Steeler teams in recent years loaded with talent....and I mean LOADED. Same result, because same people running the show. Every time MT speaks I hear the Benny Hill theme song playing. Yesterdays product on the field matches the song. I have grown tired of the song.

Spot on article and post Beth, thanks for posting. Nothing changes till this entire FO is gone.
His true calling was politician. But he's been very crafty at hiding his incompetence as a coach, or rather a HOF QB and GM have.BethlehemSteel wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 4:26 amI mean MT has moved on from the well developed line of BS to flat out lying through his teeth
If Tomlin could put in less effort to go 8-8, he would.
