Keith Butler has never designed or called a defense while serving as the DC of the Steelers
Re: Keith Butler has never designed or called a defense while serving as the DC of the Steelers
As I remember it, they promised Butler the DC job years before Lebeau finally left. But he kept hanging around, and they had no choice but to honor their promise to Butler.
After a few years, Tomlin lost patience and completely took over the defense 3-4 years ago. I think Butler makes a lot of calls during the game, but Tomlin makes the critical ones. So if you can separate the suck from the crap, then you could assign accountability.

But we have NEVER had a losing season.....(as I point a loaded gun to my head.)

Thanks for the assist on the easy layup.Louis Lipps Service wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 3:38 pmHaha, I almost changed that wording because I know someone would take advantage.DP39 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 2:52 pmIs that even possible?Louis Lipps Service wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 2:28 pmNot that I would be shocked if this were true by any means...but is there something more substantial to go off other than Kinkhabwala said so?
I personally don't fully trust her. She has a tiny bit of Mark Madden in her where she likes to stir shit up for clicks.
Then I said "Fuck it, I'll take the assist".
Tiny bit and Mark Madden should never be in the same sentence.
This is pathetic on many many levels.
And so telling. It’s no wonder unknown lacross players & grocery baggers can show up and have career games against us.
But hey, we satisfied the Rooney Rule and are saving money on coaches.
Plus no losing seasons.
All boxes have been checked

The horror.
If Canada gets shitcanned, I cannot WAIT to see who Tomlin finds to take that job. I wouldn't rule out a high school OC....

Great freaking movie. One of the best. Amazing cinematography for the time.

Tomlin has his playsheet printed on the inside of his shades. Obviously.beerbrother wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 4:34 amAlways kind of wondered why other coordinators have a full sized playsheet and Butler only has a small index card. It's probably just directions back to the locker room so he doesn't get lost."Keith Butler has never designed or called a defense in his entire time as Steelers defensive coordinator."
I'm sure the person will have some connection benefiting one of his kids somehow. Does MT's youngest son, Mason, need a helping hand in some playing time? Maybe his DB Coach at Columbia College is a "bright" new coaching talent? Start looking there, is my guess.

Todd Haley?
“Being a fan is fine, but there is a line you can cross that makes it really unhealthy,” said Ken Yeager, PhD, a mental health expert in the department of psychiatry at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
Haley is tanned, rested and ready. Particularly if Tomlin and Mrs. Tomlin are ready to play ball.

Could happen. I think 6-10-1 is more likely.Baltostiller wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 5:50 pmIf going 5-11-1 would get rid of Tomlin, I'd be all for it...
Is Joe Walton available?
Ron Erhardt?
I don't care if they're dead. Tom Moore is still alive fwiw.

"So, we have to proceed with caution, but when you’re pursuing greatness, risk-taking is a part of it. Calculated risk-taking. That’s what you’re talking about when you’re drawing up big plays schematically.”
Walton is only recently passed, August 15th. Erhardt has been away fom us for a while.
David Cutcliffe, probably better as a QB guru than a coordinator, is recently available.

Wait a minute, I thought that Butler called the D during last year's Cleveland game where Rudolph almost beat the Clowns. Then, during the hugely embarrassing playoff game 2 weeks later, Tomlin called the D the entire game. I thought I heard a player mention that last year!
