RIP Franco Harris
So sad to hear of this just days before the 50th anniversary ceremony

RIP Franco thanks for being nice to me as a teenager at the airport over 20 years ago while we were waiting for our luggage

Oh wow how sad.
Saturday is going to be so bittersweet now…
RIP Franco. You contributed so much to make the Steelers of my childhood what they were.

“Yeah we suck, be there is a chance we could suck slightly more if we try to correct the problem.” - Art Deuce (summarized by SteelPerch)

“We’ve got to write that story. We’ve got enough talent, we’ve got enough schematics to do big, big things. When I say big things, I’m talking about historic things.”
Omg such terrible news when he was about to be celebrating and having a wonderful time. Feels like there's been so much death lately. Maybe that's just me getting older. RIP Franco. This event certainly won't be the same without you there.
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”
This is so shocking just because he has been so visible in the public lately. RIP #32

Heartbreaking fucking news.

This is so heartbreaking to me on so many levels, especially as this weekend's anniversary approached. As the son of Italian immigrants growing up in Western PA, Franco was always an inspiration to me as a kid (obviously why I have the handle I do). 72 is far too young to pass nowadays.
I'm not sure how I feel about this weekend's festivities at this point. I think Franco would still have wanted the Immaculate Reception celebrated so I guess that and the number retirement will still go forward?
Devastating.

I'm in absolute disbelief this morning. Absolutely shocked, stunned and incredibly sad. God bless you and thank you for everything, Franco.

"Jack Lambert is mean and relentless wherever he goes, on and off the field! I do remember many times he would chase me in practice, but no way would I let him catch me" - Franco Harris
RIP Franco. It was a pleasure watching you and your team as I was growing up. You and the 70's teams are the reason for my fandom today! God's fantasy football team just got a lot better!

This has got to be the saddest day in the history of SteelerFury. Franco was an unbelievable player, an unreal teammate, a decent guy in real life, and among the greatest NFL players of all-time. It’s a blessing that we got to enjoy him as one of ours.

I thought this post was going to be about a record that bit the dust. Then I thought it was a joke post. I figured it would be Bradshaw first out of the elite group.
It will make the 50th bittersweet for sure!

My best friend and I would spend hours in the backyard with a nerf football trying to recreate the IR. Man this is so sad

Just so sad that he didn’t get that moment on Saturday. I mean, the guy lived a life and he’s a legend that will live forever… but how cruel that difference between today and next week.
I just turned on my laptop
Opened the browser
This is the first thing I saw
wtf
I’m just stunned
I can’t imagine how difficult this must be for his family and close friends - who I’m sure - were all planning to celebrate this weekend
Tomorrow is not guaranteed
rest in peace 32

I wonder if he knew that they were about to retire his jersey number on Saturday.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Wed Dec 21, 2022 1:22 pmJust so sad that he didn’t get that moment on Saturday. Damn. RIP Franco.
One of the absolute all-time greats who made the greatest and most iconic plays in NFL history.
Favorite non immaculate reception Franco moment was the angry 22 yard TD vs Cowboys in SB13.

I just commented last week that he has aged so well and still looks so young. He and Mel Blount both. It’s crazy he ran out of bounds just days before the number retirement. Curious as to the cause of death.Mick wrote: ↑Wed Dec 21, 2022 1:31 pmhttps://www.cbsnews.com/pittsburgh/news ... reception/
