Mike Tomlin's a Dumb Bitch

Post by swissvale72 » Mon Oct 02, 2023 12:30 am

"Eenire meanie Minie Bitch...have a choice, DON'T put in Mitch"

First four words are from the 2022 hit single," I Be Swettin" from the NYC band Bread and Butter.

We'll talk about the choice of Black & Gold QBs in a sec, but a seemingly benign situation makes the all-time list of Coach T's game day dumbfuckery, and that's no easty task, it's a relatively high bar to clear.

Trailing by 17 points with 10 minutes left, facing 4th & 2 at his own 36, Tomlin decides to punt the ball back to Houston, even though needing three scores in the final 10 min. Of course, Steelers didn't see the ball again until 3 minutes some remained and by this time trailing by 24 points.

Dafuq Tomlin!!! WHY would your stupid ass make this kind of a calll.

In his presser, wonder if Coach T will reference "fluidity" this week, or "mojo." It's not a call for the annals as far as impact, but as far as downright, goddamn stupidity, it's hard to beat this one by Coach T.

And no, If Kenny is Ready, Puh-LEEEZ, don't put in Mitch (the Bitch) Trubisky versus Ravens next week. We well remember what happened Mitch faced these purple mother-fuckekrs from Baltimore.

Okay, time for post-game pressers, on delay. Tomlin first, and can't wait to see what kind of unalderated bullshit to which we'll be treated Then...will come the absolute best show on TV, the Belichick presser, fresh off getting his ass KICKED by the Cowboys, to the tune of 38-3. Best show on TV!!!

Funny that he went for it on 4th and 1 when a FG (long but within Boswell's range and indoors) would have made it a 7 point game, and then punts then.

17 years in...still no situational awareness.

I was going to include that, Jeems....but at least that call was defensible. But yes, a Boz 50 yarder there would have made it a one-score game. By contrast, kicking it away, down 17 points, 10 min left makes zero fuckin' sense.

Oh I had no problem with them going for it on 4th and 1 that one time…well I did have a problem with the playcall.

But of course we are forgetting one thing where punting down 23-6 DID make sense.

Mike Tomlin had given up.

Becasue Tomlin ran out of bullets. They had already used their 10 plays and it was clear that the Texans were ready for them, so their were no bullets left in the gun. Why go for it when Tomlin knew it would be stops - like all of the other plays! Playing the Steelers is like having another bye week. Teams really don't have to do much to prepare for this team on either side of the ball. So, they can focus on the Steelers on Monday and Tuesday (maybe) and give the guys the rest of the week to relax! (and still beat them 20+ points)

A couple weeks ago you were perplexed as to why some posters weren’t excited after the Cleveland win.

This is why. Because it was obvious we only won based on two outlier defensive touchdowns plus the injury to Chubb.

This team keeps showing who they are. So even though they will win some games (NFL/parody and all) those wins do t change who they are at their core.

And that is a team with mediocre talent that runs a simplistic scheme all the while being poorly coached.

So yay we beat Cleveland. 1st place baby.

How do you feel today?

Until either (a) Jibbs moves on or (b) Jibbs realizes it’s better to employ quality coaches over yes men this will continue.

Now toss in the fact it is becoming more and more apparent that KP will be nothing more than a mediocre jag and well, what is there to get excited about?
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 82 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

I think the simpler explanation is, at that point, Tomlin was defeated and just wanted to get out of there.

There wasn't some master-level tactical gut decision, he simply wanted to avoid further embarrassment.

These awful coaches are just destroying talent. With the exceptions of a special player like TJ that they can't really screw up, a lot of above average/decent players are made to look like jags in these schemes.

Guys like Muth, Najee and even Kenny might not be pro bowlers, but I think they could be above average in a good scheme. DJ is probably back again next year, but it will be interesting to see what he looks like on a real offense in a few years.

Wait till they suck the beast out of Benton and teach Porter how to give a nice cushion and tackle the catch.
Porter had 10 defensive snaps yesterday.

Yep. One doesn’t exist without the other.

This is Jibb’s offense. Just like that stale, unimaginative crap we witnessed on the other side of the ball is his defense.

But did you know Mike Tomlin has never had a losing season!!!

Keeps us in the hunt every year - I don't think PIT has ever been eliminated from the playoffs before the final week under Tomlin!!!!

How do I feel today? Not great about the Steelers, but had they somehow pulled that game out their ass, I'd be happiy AF.

Let's say Tomlin decides to have Boz try the 51 yarder...next series, we get a strip sack for the tying TD. Game goes to OT, Peezy Jr. picks a pass on a tipped ball. Boz connects again and Steelers win. THEN, I'm dancing like a mother fucker.

Point is, 76, I know this team basically sucks. And I've known for years that Mike Tomlin is a GameDay Dumbfuck. I also know though, that rooting against this team, having them string together losses, is NOT going to result in the Douchebag Art II replacing Tomlin.

So, because I'd rather be happy sometimes than perpetually pissed off, when Steelers win a game that no fuckin' way they should have won, I'll continue to be happy AF.

Hope that all makes sense.

To that I’d say enjoy preseason championships and regular season mediocrity.

Losses will eventually get rid of Jibbs.

Problem with that however is that Dunce will likely hire a turd to replace him.

Dunce wants optics and boxes checked. He doesn’t care about winning.

How could he when he doesn’t even evaluate his HC on performance metrics?

Ugggh

For me, I’ll be happy with this team when it becomes apparent we can actually win a playoff game again. Something we used to do with great regularity under the previous two coaches.

Jibbs stopped doing that once this became his team with little to no traces of Cowher.

Tomlin got his hooks deep into the hiring process after Haley’s contract expired in 2018. It has been a disaster ever since. The Steelers have not had competent coordinators since the end of the 2018 season. The five-year period that has followed has produced the worst stretch of Steelers football since the 1980s. The results are that Tomlin’s seat curiously has only been warm on social media.

It’s alright, no hard questions coming for Mike Tomlin. Don’t get your hopes up for a fiery press conference. And that’s not on the media. The Steelers protect Tomlin. He’s untouchable and he knows it. Any hard questions get you permanently put in their doghouse.

Last week, Tomlin admitted to making up an answer at a press conference because he was tired of answering the same question. Are the Steelers possibly engaging in some not-so-subtle shenanigans to protect Tomlin?

It is hard to believe that savvy media personalities with large platforms, like Mark Kaboly from The Athletic or Brooke Pryor from ESPN, would sit still for that type of treatment. It does beg the question of why the media fawns over Tomlin. Is it all just a scripted show? If a reporter dares to ask the wrong question, are they chastised behind closed doors?

However, if reporters stop asking tough questions under threat of losing access, the fans lose faith, and more importantly, we lose the unvarnished truth. Say it ain't so, Mr Rooney. Somebody please say it ain't so.
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”

I'd be surprised if anyone on here still supports Tomlin. I think that most of us, especially the folks who have seen through this fraud since 2010, are just resigned to the fact that he's our coach, and no amount of anger or complaining or evidence of his ineptitude will ever change that.

I mean what material changes could he make?

JPJ starting over either of the borderline CBs?

Benton Starting over Leal or Oganjobi?

Replace the OLine Coach?

Replace the DC?

Replace the OC?

Convince Ben to come back??

I mean, lets be honest, aside from changing the person who is responsible for the decision making, that being himself, nothing is going to change.

I had a casual friend, guy I played softball with for several years. Good guy, everyone that knew him, liked him. Sadly was taken away way too soon. Anyway, he worked in our local sports media, radio and television, and had credentials to attend Cowher’s weekly Tuesday pressers. He rarely was called on to ask questions, but on one occasion he was called upon. He asked an innocent question about the play of a certain defensive player in that weeks game, a loss. Cowher didn’t like the question and berated him for it in front of his colleagues, and he was permanently barred from any future Steelers media functions. True story!
