What Will We Have To Give Up In A Trade For Tomlin
After we lose our last 4 games this year, what do you think teams would want to take Tomlin off our hands?
i'd be willing to give them Clank and a 4th.

To rid the Steelers of Tomlin I’d offer our 1st and a lifetime supply of red paint for the barn.
A leather-bond copy of his best Tomlinisms?

I honestly don't think there will be a huge market for Tomlin. I think too many teams see Tomlin for what he truly is - an absolute football idiot who spins a good line! If we see Tomlin's faults, so do other front offices. I think we are screwed! Had we done this back in 2016, we could have gotten a decent return, but his complete failures since then, doesn't exactly resonate confidence!
Yeah, in 2016 maybe.alancac98 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 2:05 pmI honestly don't think there will be a huge market for Tomlin. But, you know, it's kind of weird how this "he'd have a job 5 minutes later" ever came about. To even suggest that is an implicit acknowledgement that his work has been "below the line". And I think it was back around 2016 when I noted he'd gone 5 years since a playoff win, which was the longest dry spell in like 40 years. And I think that's about the time the "5 minutes" gaslighting started.
I mean, you never heard anyone talk about how "Belichick would have a job 5 minutes later".

Perhaps we should start a Tomlin dowry fund here at Fury?

Suppose
- The Steelers finish at 10
- They trade Watt for 1 2 4
- They trade Pickens for 1 4
Their draft capital would be 1 1 1 2 2 3 4 4 4 4 6 6 7
They use 112 to get Daniels
The rest of the draft looks like this
1 Jayden Daniels QB LSU
1 JC Latham OT Alabama
2 Javon Foster OG Auburn
3 Jackson Powers Johnson C/G Oregon
4 + 4 Tyleik Williams DL OSU
4 Ricky Pearsall WR Florida
4 Bryce Foster C/G Texas A&M
6 Jalen Catalon SS Texas A&M
6 Bru McCoy WR Tennessee
7 John Emery Jr RB LSU

Jibbs has not done a good enough job developing talent to give him a bunch of shiny new toys to fuck-up.
At this point I'd even support trading Watt. And the reason is that Jibbs has shown how difficult it is for him to win games without him.
No Watt for Jibbs = more losses for Jibbs.
Might not be a bad thing.
I just want this fool gone. Bring on the next guy. If he sucks too then do it again. And again until you find the right guy.
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 84 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.
Still not sure they'd consider giving up Watt, but I'd endorse that draft.SteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 6:45 pmSuppose

Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...
Watt is still young enough to build around. Same with Minkah, and Highsmith isn't chopped liver.
Cam is near the end, and it would be best for all parties to send him to a contender. Probably get a solid R3 given he only has 1-2 years left.
You might be able to fleece someone for an R2 on Pickens. Definitely way more upside than Claypool, but unfortunately the Bears probably aren't talking at this point. But Pickens is still very much a raw talent and probably highly overrated by fans here.
But no point making big moves until you move on from Tomlin. The longer it takes, the more he leaves a 2-15 DET-type dumpster fire for the next guy. Inherited a Mazzarati and is going to leave a Jalopy behind...

Bet we could get Mahomes for Pickett if we just let people read Fury game day threads first.
I’d do this if Creed Humphrey was added to sweeten the dealSteelperch wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 7:22 pmBet we could get Mahomes for Pickett if we just let people read Fury game day threads first.

Do you really believe the positive comments outweigh the negative ones in the game threads?Steelperch wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 7:22 pmBet we could get Mahomes for Pickett if we just let people read Fury game day threads first.
That sounds pretty dubious to me!

I heard we would’ve won two extra games this week alone if Kenny wasn’t hurt. He put up 3 whole points in a half against the worst D in the league and that is all the proof you need that he’s the bestest!Professor Half Wit wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 7:32 pmDo you really believe the positive comments outweigh the negative ones in the game threads?Steelperch wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 7:22 pmBet we could get Mahomes for Pickett if we just let people read Fury game day threads first.

Not a fan of counter factual hypotheticals myself, but I’d wager that 80% of KP comments in the game threads are highly negative.Steelperch wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 7:35 pmI heard we would’ve won two extra games this week alone if Kenny wasn’t hurt. Other than KC and sometimes Lakecrest, who is sticking up for KP in game threads?
We all see he sucks.

I would give Pickett, Najee and the Fort Pitt Bridge to a team to take Tomlin.

No matter what there will be plenty of teams that need a coach who think never had a losing season sounds like a blessing from the heavens. They'll easily talk themselves into a bidding war. Remember, there are still people out there saying he should be up for coach of the year. I have no doubt we could get at least a 1st round pick for him. If Rooney let's it happen this could be an instant push back to being a contender for this team. One good draft including a high pick for "hopefully" a franchise QB, a couple free agents and real coaching staff to actually coach up this roster and things look real promising to me.
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”
