On Bedwetting
I frequently call out the bedwetters on this esteemed website (you know who you are) but last night, the tables were turned and I was called out, somewhat appropriately, as a bedwetter. There's varying genres of bedwetting though, thus thought that merits some examination:
1. Pregame bedwetting: This bedwetter, and it's ordinarily a sarcastic fuck, and yeah, you know who you are, is predicting disaster per-game....steelers will lose, it will be boring AF, etc.
I GUESS one could indict me for pre-game bedwetting this week, questioning tomlin's thought process throughout the week.
2. In-game bedwetting: this bedwetter is relentless with his negativity throughout, first snap on, predicting run, run, pass, kick, on every subsequent possession, speculating often that somebody is fucking someone else's wife, and that's driving decision-making.
Last night, I'll admit to calling for Russ to be benched while I'm the midst of 3 consecutive three & outs, his passes nowhere near the target.
3. Post-game bedwetting: this bedwetter, I find to be the most annoying, and you DEF know who the fuck you are. Steelers win, but youre bellyaching is relentless, never ending. Steelers will only achieve NHALS (if I ruled the world, or at least this site, I would ban that reference), theyll get blown out in the playoffs...or...worst of all, this fuckin bedwetter was not "entertained." This bedwetter often roots for steeler losses, thinking that will end Mike Tomlins reign.
It's like this, asshats. When the steelers win,'I'm plenty fuckin entertained. If you dipshits had been around in 74 and 75, those SB winning steelers didn't exactly play the most exciting brand of football. They just fuckin WON....and a steeler win always always ALWAYS puts a smile on my face!!
There, my friends, and I make that reference charitably, as some of you, you know who you are...are miserable mother-fuckers, is the treatise on bedwetting. I'll plead guilty to an amount of pre and in-game bedwetting last night, but never ever EVER to bedwetting in victory!!
Oh, almost forgot, on first take this morning, tedy bruschi, who I hate a bit less with the passage of time, said that Tomlin had JF warming up on the sidelines while Russ was struggling. I dont think so!! There was no video of this and the sunday night crew would have def called attention to it were it happening.

Whatever happened to Jeemie? He used to post all the time. He and the Professor have been missing all season.

I’d like to call myself out for bed wetting in 1st half. By the end of the 3rd quarter I was a believer and more than happy to eat crow.
I’m going to make one key distinction between watching those mid-70s teams and the current version
The defense was the main focus of the team, and back then the defense was allowed to play defense
Today, Tomlin wants the defense to be the focus, but they aren’t allowed to play
And every play on defense, you find yourself waiting/expecting a flag
It seriously degrades the enjoyment of watching that side of the ball
Watching the defense in the mid 70s was often the most enjoyable part
just my thoughts

Some gumbling in the crowd ... calling for Fields after first series.
Wow. Not even a short leash.
After 2 series... in which Russ looked like he forgot to throw a football....grumbling got louder.
You could see tho...he had some one in his face often to every throw. Mostly Bad footwork.
At least one throw to the left, wr screen..
I believe he started his throwing motion, saw it was getting blown up or trouble... and his instincts forced a half toss into the turf 5 yards short.
3rd series.
15-20% of crowd chanting for Fields. You could see Fields escaping some of that rush and scrambling for some yards or 1st downs.
I don't think it warranted pulling him at all. Russ has not had live action in quite some time.
Even when we started picking up some plays... the Darnell rollouts... Russ had someone in his face.
Sticking with Russ was obviously the only call.
There is still so much this offense can be doing to help a QB play football and excell in Tomlins offense.

It’s a completely different game now from 70’s era NFL football.anpsteel wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2024 9:16 pmI’m going to make one key distinction between watching those mid-70s teams and the current version

What Ogunjobi did to Hall yesterday would have been applauded by fans, coaches and announcers back in the 70’s.
All of us immediately knew a flag was coming after that play yesterday and I was worried he might get tossed.

I actually enjoy watching the defense most of the time.
And as long as they are playing tough and keeping the score close its an entertaining game.
The offense on the other hand, tends to make me eat more snacks out of anxiety and potential bedwetting.
But I try to stay optimistic and positive as much as possible. Until the fat lady sings.

Secure NHALS early and then go deep into the PLAYOFFS.

What's the big deal?

Don't overthink it and just enjoy the feeling.

The NFL in the pre Mel Blount rule era was designed for dominating defenses. That's how the roster was built in 74.
The HC was young and hungry.

Jeemie, Hardnosed, Fury, and IC were high quality posters.
My guy Suwanee88 introduced me to this site, but it was FC who legitimized it for me.
I trolled at first not taking it seriously until I saw there were some knowledgeable posters, FC chief among them.
Miss that guy
Miss the gospel (terribly)
Hope he's doing ok.
