Jesus Christ... they literally have no OT depth, unless you want to see more Spencer Anderson.jmacinwbp wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 9:19 pmFor those thinking D.Cook is replacing Jones any time soon forget about it:

I think Jones is going to be fine, but it needs to start getting better in PassPro soon.

agreed about the depth. Spencer was below the line @guard, maybe better as backup tackle? He can't be worse than the other Anderson they had in for the play after Moore got kicked in the leg, can he? That was a quick whiff and sack in his one snap.
I thought his ability to give up a sack in limited snaps was above the line if you will. Looks like a stud.

Cook waived very move
MM Jones had a decent rookie season. Nothing sensational but showed real signs of improvement as season went on and future looked bright.TimmayLake wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 8:06 pmTwo first round players from UGA...supposed college football studs...both looking like major busts.
Is there hope for Broderick? Jarvis at least flashed during preseason.
Jervis was mediocre to crap from snap 1.
Broderick has talent, the problem is between the ears. Jervis did not have 1st round talent at any point.
What the...
Cook waived.
They may be trading for an OT before WR

That was a great movie.
And it’s called a blanket party. Jones could certainly use one.

Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 88 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.
Possibly making some progress?

This kid is definitely not a Jarvis Jones type of pick, much higher upside than Jarvis ever had. If he figures things out, then look the fuck out; this team might be going places.

I have to go back and rewatch. I saw Fowler in our backfield for much of the game. For example, Frankie Luvu got a sack in the 1st quarter. Jones slides to his left and doubles the DT but it leaves a massive gap for two blitzers to come through. Yeah, Darnell should have gotten one of them but I tend to think that was Jones fault.
Not sure how he got that rating.

Darnell blocks literally no one on this play. It's hard to know what calls were made, etc but theres an obvious screw up by DW here.franco32 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 1:05 pmI have to go back and rewatch. Looking at some other plays:
- Fowlers first sack (10:50 left in the 3rd) he's lined up over the LT then stunts and shoots the gap between the C & RG.
- Fowler's second sack (2:15 in the 3rd) - it's actually Seumalo who gets beat on this play. Luvu beats him off the line, and that forced Russ to step into the sack. Fowler was over the LT on this play. (More on this below)
- On the scramble drill pass to CA3, Wilson bails on a clean pocket.
- On the Mike Williams TD pass, Washington brought 5, but Dan Moore gets beat badly
On that 2nd Fowler sack play. Here's a screenshot. I've pointed out Seumalo getting beaten like a drum, but also note that no one was within a country mile of DW on this play. This is a massive gain if Isaac doesn't F up.

Russell Wilson is no moron & the reason above is easily enough to stay & he can see what is going on at the NY Jets with a QB who could be comparable to him. The Steelers are giving Wilson a team where he can readily re-assume his previous stardom especially with a great defense like he had in SF. Picking up Williams had to give Wilson a bigger grin. Tomlin is doing everything to allow Russ to feel at home & we all know what Dorothy said.

My guy Broderick going to have his “fat” “lazy” hands full with Justin Madubuike who’s “on a heater” after his 3 sack performance against the Bengals
Nick Markakis on Astros: "Every guy over there needs a beating."
Been watching a lot of Broderick lately. He's doing a bit better, but man, he really has a bad habit of not finishing blocks. He's very much a player that is satisfied with his initial block and doesn't stay with it. This often leads to his man making a tackle downfield anyway. It's very frustrating and it's the reason I always say it is "mental" with Jones more than anything else.
He needs Frazier and McCormick to rub off on him. I am actually hopeful this game triggers something in him, due to the fact he's experienced it before and at least appeared to understand what Steelers/Ravens is like last season. Long story short if you don't have violent hands or finish blocks this matchup, you are a lost cause.franco32 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 11:19 amBeen watching a lot of Broderick lately. Another sh*t performance with sloppy penalties and bad hand usage. It's a real problem and we don't have a solution.
He's like having another coach on the field. Just a total pro and team leader.
LOVE HIM!

First pass play I saw the Chargers run tonight I thought, their RT held his block better and longer than I’ve see Bust Jones do all season.but man, he really has a bad habit of not finishing blocks
He had better work with a coach this offseason on technique and actually you know, get better.

Jones is lazy and immature. You can tell he's just been a coddled dude who's never had to put in the real work.955876 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 4:50 amFirst pass play I saw the Chargers run tonight I thought, their RT held his block better and longer than I’ve see Bust Jones do all season.but man, he really has a bad habit of not finishing blocks

Will it ever click for him? TBD. He's a great raw talent but so are the scores of other flameouts.

Jones is the heart and soul of the Steelers OL
They all cue off him
Imo he’s the biggest on field reason they are continuing to come together
He’s got a fighters attitude and its rubbing off on the others
I cant remember when I felt like the OL unit had some pride and espirit de corp and seemed eager to perform well. There are moments they are giddy and joyful. Big improvement from the Grumpus Incorporated days. That’s a big deal. Being happy to play hard and bulldoze for the guy next to you
I think this unit is gonna challenge for best in the NFL sooner rather than later
Jones makes some errors. A few are bad. They haven’t really hurt the Steelers much in the big scheme of things. When you have teammates who routinely penalty kill for each other you have team that is gonna be a tough out
Imo Jones isn’t lazy as much as going through a learning stage in the NFL
When you are that big and athletic all the way through school at every level. You don’t need to practice or study or develop technique or really do much more than just show up and smash the guy(s) in front of you
In the NFL things are different
Fairly often it takes guys like Jones a bit to get on the moving train
Don’t believe me ??
Dan Moore agrees with me. lol

There are tough guys who are smart and then there are tough guys who aren't so bright and can be lazy. I need a player that is motivated to kick ass every down, regardless of whether he is angry or not, and who plays through the whistle. Jones doesn't.
Oh well, at least he leads all RTs in the league in sacks allowed.
