Several sources have told the Post-Gazette the offense and defense lack imagination and have become too predictable. Offensively, there is a disconnect between Wilson and coordinator Arthur Smith about the way the passing game should operate. Defensively, the Steelers rarely blitz and get after the quarterback, especially when teams are making sure to keep T.J. Watt out of the backfield.
Despite making the postseason for the fourth time in the past five years, the Steelers showed they can’t beat the best teams in the league when it matters.

It's not that they can't beat the best teams, it's that they don't even deserve to be on the same field as them when it actually matters. JV vs. Varsity. Actually worse than that.
*roots for losses*

The real issue apart from that what we know by sight. Tomlin won't let arthur smith even do his thing. Not that smith is the worst, but the handcuff tyrant coach has demanded it
Tomlin PC 1/14/25 -“‘Stuck’ is a helpless feeling. I don’t feel helpless,” Tomlin said. “I don’t know if I want to sell you an overly optimistic (tone) either.

I'd say it's as much about what works in Sep & Oct not working in Dec & Jan because EVERYONE ELSE is making adjustments and the Steelers don't or more accurately, wont. The makeup of the team has been good enough to win at least a few of the recent playoff debacles but 6 times in a row they have started slow and been badly out couched. During that span there have been multiple QBs, OCs & DCs all with the same result... the only constant is Tomlin and yet he gets a pass every time.
Sadly, things won't change while he's in charge.

Stating the obvious is an understatement.
Every season we live and die by the asinine standard ‘we do what we do’,…. so stoic though!
Although the game has changed over his career, this franchise continues the 1990’s defense centric style football.
What I find some irony with is, fraudlin is on the ‘Rules Committee’ an acting contributor ushering in these changes.
What’s perplexing to me is the refusal to change with the times has become so mind numbingly frustrating.
What do I know…..

Very astute point

It's about forcing them to play Steeler football. Imposing their will on the opponent, etc.
I don't think teams are listening....

What’s so infuriating is watching other teams imposing their Will.
Especially those 2-3 bottom feeding franchises seemingly every season.

Obviously.
It feels like, in the last 2 years, that the beat writers around the Steelers, most of the national press and just about every knowledgeable football observer have finally come around and realized the problems with the Steelers have a source named Mike Tomlin and Art Rooney II. I always thought that once that happened, things would immediately change. What seems to be happening instead is a hardening of resolve around ownership's view of Tomlin as the bestest coach ever...This feels even worse than the state of denial we've witnessed from the team. Presented with irrefutable evidence of Tomlin's incompetence in the playoffs, they make and envision no changes whatsoever. LOL...Although Art II would love to have Hines Ward join the team as an assistant OC or something..Enjoy the games tomorrow, gentlemen. Will be a long ass time before the B&G ever have the stage at that level again.

Meyer coming back is malpractice.
Tomlin appears to have two criteria for retaining a coach: One, whether or not he's good enough for NHALS. And, Two, whether or not he could be a fall guy the following year.
Seems as if very brief "COY Candidate" Tomlin doesn't need a fall guy this year, so he's going to run it back with the same crew. In part because hiring a new coach creates work.

I agree! I have never seen an Arthur Smith offence so pedestrian. It's like his entire offensive philosophy completely changed her in Pittsburgh. He barely used the TE which was something he always did! There was absolutely no imaginations or scheming players open or anything, which I understood was a part of his system. I was kinda excited to see his offence after the crap OC we had the last several year, but I think Tomlin pulled one over on the Rooneys I think he rehired Canada and made him where a Smith mask, makeup, and body filler to make him look like Arthur Smith. What they did with the real Arthur Smith, I have no idea!
It could be that Smith got a glimpse into lazy life and this felt more like a vacation opportunity, so he kicked back and relaxed knowing that not much was expected in conjunction with Tomlin's Junior High offensive philosophy. He lived easy for the year!

Maybe when more empty seat at the stadium happen Art will grow a set a tell Tomlin to hire top OC and DC and let them do their jobs
