Absolutely NOTHING is gonna change with the Steelers AT LEAST until then. And it’s very possible not then either

But suppose that is gonna be an inflection point. What are the somewhat likely outcomes ?? Some guesses…..

- Different Rooney. Same approach.
I think it’s unlikely ANY Rooney will change things much from how they’ve largely been done. The longstanding attitude from every family source we’ve ever been exposed to has been stay the course don’t change a thing. I think particularly for a family like the Rooney’s who live off of the Steelers they aren’t even close to any kind of massive change in the big picture way they approach the team from an ownership perspective. You want the absolute worst case scenario ?? The very worst teams in the NFL still make plenty of money. If you are a Rooney with no real options other than being a Rooney who owns a football team why bother worrying or changing too much ? The checks roll in either way

- Tomlin extension. Do any of you think it’s likely Tomlin doesn’t have a team that is “only a few players away from contending “ in 2027 ? Will the Rooney’s walk away from that ?? I think that’s unlikely. Would they walk away from a team at the bottom of the AFC North and the NFL ? Possibly.

- Tomlin moves on. Worse or similar HC and results.
This is the most likely outcome and of course would present its own fresh hell timetable to ultimately change course. Does ANYONE here think the Steelers/Rooney’s are gonna hire an offensive HC with a great QB track record ?? Possibly but I doubt it.

- Tomlin moves on. Better HC and results.
Always possible and of course ultimately what everyone should strive for. Possible but I think this is the least likely outcome. At least initially. That wouldn’t stop me from making the attempt however but again since the Rooney’s run the team it’s ultimately their call

Where does that leave us ??

If…..the Rooney’s grow the balls to move on from Tomlin we are probably at least 2 more HCs away from contending at best.

It genuinely sucks that I will be forced to watch this crap go down for at least the next 10-15 years
