Tomlin & Co. must really have all of their eggs in the Aaron Rodgers basket

Good God, do I pray they sign Rodgers. It will be a beautiful disaster 8-) .

I can’t wait to get my authentic Steelers Aaron Rodgers jersey :D :D :D

Make it happen Omar!!!!!
Big Ben believes Rodgers is hoping Minnesota changes their mind because the Vikings are a more complete team than the Steelers.

Signing with the Vikings would give Rodgers a much better shot at a ring (his final shot, most likely) than he would have signing with the Steelers.

I think Ben is correct.

That's why I still think the Steelers are going to draft their QB in a few weeks. Trade down in the first and take your pick of Dart, Milroe or Slough.

Knowing the Steelers and how important the NHALS is to Cool Shades, drafting Slough wouldn't surprise me in the least. Older QB and would need much less time to develop.

The fascination with Rodgers is still mind blowing to me. Tomlin is playing with real fire. Rodgers would HAPPILY call Tomlin out in the media on the Pat McAfee show if Tomlin is being conservative or doing his normal unbelievably dumb shit. While I do not want Rodgers, I gotta admit that would be seriously fucking funny.
Some people have Dart moving up to the first round.

I'd be excited as hell if the Steelers took Dart.

I know some folks here see him as another Pickett, but I don't. Dude clearly has a lot more arm talent than Kenny and he's both more accurate and tougher. Dart may come from a system that makes things easy for him what I love is that he gets the ball out on time and his ball placement is a thing of beauty.

Sure, all QB's are hit or miss. Literally all of them. If Dart sucks, the Steelers are going to have an awful year (Mason, behind our offensive line, is a recipe for disaster) and the Steelers signing a guy like Rodgers puts a dirty, pus encrusted band-aid on a gaping open wound. The Steelers MUST try and find a QB that can compete with guys like Burrow and Lamar. Also, who knows what Cleveland will do? They have enough resources to trade for Cam Ward.

I'll say it again, at least with a rookie QB, you have a CHANCE the guy might turn out special. Throwing the football as well as he does, Dart has a chance. They could always go the route of hoping Milroe develops as a passer, because he's already an elite runner, but I prefer to take the pure passer and see what happens.

The worst that could happen is that Dart is a bust and the Steelers are very possibly sitting where Tennessee is right now. Looking at the #1 overall pick in a draft that is rich with QB's.

Dart is stud. He is tua without injuries. Great in rpo. He would be a great upgrade. Tua super powers are throwing with anticipation , dart doesn’t have that but he has better athleticism. Great pick

That's why I honestly don't think the Steelers are sweating the Rodgers drama nearly as much as people think they are. For once, Tomlin is playing possum at the QB position before the draft.

I believe they love and will take Dart but they could love and want Milroe or another player. Dart is the guy I hope they pick but I want Mason and a highly regarded rookie. I do not fucking want Rudolph in a Weekend at Bernie's situation with a corpse like Rodgers with him in the QB room.

Jaxson Dart is Kenny Pickett with less spine.

But, I dont think it matters as I agree with the sentiment that their plan is to sign Rodgers and draft Milroe ... if Rodgers flakes out they will go with Rudolph and Milroe ,,,, maybe make some other backup QB desperation signing

I see no similarities between Pickett and Dart.

Dart has a lot more arm, accuracy and a whole lot of toughness.

Christ Todd McShay believes Dart has some Josh Allen in his game.

Nobody, but nobody compared Kenny Pickett to Josh Allen. Ever.

Dart fails when he has to put the game on his shoulders and win it( unlike Allen). Dart is in a better position skill-wise than Milroe. Milroe is the much better athlete. Dart compares to Allar better than Allen. I would rather have neither in the 1st round.

The Pickett-Dart comparisons were always ridiculous to me. But here's the reality. Pickett probably doesn't go for another round or two if not for the Steelers. Dart is going in the first round and may not even be there for the Steelers to pick. Probably won't, is my guess.

One guy is identified by the entire league as a first round talent whereas the Steelers were the only ones who valued Pickett. It's not an overdraft or a reach in the first round.

Regardless, and I'll stand by this, you identify your QB and you do what you have to in order to get him regardless of what anyone else thinks and "value" goes out the window to me. If you think a guy is the one, you go get him and don't fuck around.

Assuming the Steelers have a credible scouting department, I can’t imagine those fellas would be very happy if Tomlin throws a round 1 “Dart” at the hysterical crier or the running back, Jalen Milroe.

Their reputation is on the line. Climbing the NFL front office ladder isn’t an easy one. With only 32 teams, there just aren’t a lot of positions. Steelers’ scouts can’t possibly want their names attached to another Kenny Pickett-like bust.

If Jaxson Dart or Jalen Milroe is the Steelers 1st round pick, then Art II and/or Mike Tomlin need to stand up and say, “I did that. My call (my bad).”

AND if the Steelers do draft a quarterback in any round at the end of this month, then I HOPE they have an actual plan to help that quarterback be successful.

A quarterback coach just isn’t enough.

Paying Jordan Palmer to be a private tutor just isn’t enough.

I’ve posted it a time or two before, but I really think the NFL needs some sort of quarterback academy where all rookie qbs are required to attend immediately after the draft.

I’m not talking some week- long mini-camp. I want an actual campus where these prospects receive several weeks of expert quarterbacking tutelage. Throwing mechanics, conditioning, film study, EVERYTHING possible to prepare them to make what apparently is a HUGE jump from college to the pros.

The NFL has (and has always had) major problems developing the most important position in all of professional sports, QUARTERBACK.
For every Jayden Daniels, there are like 20 Kenny Picketts.

The qb hit ratio is just WAY too low.

I don’t know if it’s the simplicity of the college game vs the complexity of the NFL game, I’ve never understood why after 100 years of football there are still less than ten guys in the world that excel at playing NFL quarterback in any given season.

Unfortunately, your beloved Steelers don’t have one of those guys.

I don’t want them to reach for one like “they” did for Kenny Pickett, but I’m bracing myself for just that.

I watch A LOT of SEC football and neither the hysterical crier nor Jalen Milroe scream NFL franchise qb. Both are fun players who have some SEC highlights (and lowlights), but no, not NFL studs. PERHAPS with some expert tutelage one of them could play above the Kenny Pickett line.

Will ANY rookie quarterback get that tutelage from a Mike Tomlin coached team?

Of course not

But it’s a league wide problem, it’s not just a Tomlin issue. That’s just what we as Steelers fans are hyper-focused on.

No round 1 QB (and I like Shedeur Sanders more than I probably should).

Draft BPA.

My two cents.

I would disagree. People say he LOOKS like a QB. He fits the body build for NFL QBs. Just like Allar.

What Dart has shown is not 1st round talent but someone might take a reach on him.

Always has been. Might be a bit better if they stay and learn their craft but not all coaches run systems that prepare a QB for the NFL. Tenn for example is some gadget spread system that might produce a lot of stats but it is a pre-snap/one read system which will not get you ready to be a pocket passer in the NFL. Sure there are QBs that can over come that because they have the processing power to both learn and decern quickly but a lot of those also may not have the athletic build to really make it work in the NFL.

Maybe the NIL money will make QBs stay longer and learn their craft but that still does not help if they are at a school that does not teach the right things. I think moving around helps them if they go to a decent coach.

my comment is more on a first round mistake then his actual arm -- but I do stick by my comment that IMO Dart is softer than pickett ... this opinion is based on seeing him play quite a bit and as others have pointed out his play in key situations. I said and saw the same thing with Will Levis.

I see no Josh Allen in Dart and dont care what clickbait says.

Dart is a reach in round 1 or 2 IMO and I stick by that. Milroe has some intrigue but for our team -- the Steelers -- I believe he is also a mistake because they will not help him develop and they will not craft an O that suits him - like Rats and Jackson -- they will do the same thing they have done the last ______ years.

I'm not going to lose sleep over this one. I understand the appeal of throwing a cheap pick for a developmental prospect and all. But the guy did nothing major over the course of last season to improve on his 6th round or whatever draft status. He was OK in what amounted to a meaningless pre-season game in the final week of the year.

On another note, I seem to be the only one who thinks Rodgers is waiting to sign so he doesn't hear the same bullshit about skipping OTA's that he heard last year. The Steelers may even want him to wait if he's going to skip those so they don't have the media circus over it.

I realize there are cases when a team trades someone for basically nothing and they pan out but honestly at QB when was the last time that happened? If Milton had all this potential then why did the Pats happily part with for what amounts to not much? I'd rather Steelers take a shot on someone in the draft.

It's entirely possible the Pats weren't as enamored with what they saw from the guy as some fans were and they thought this would be there best chance to get something back on their investment.

It's also possible they feel they have their franchise guy already or that they don't want the competition for their first round QB because the NFL is all about politics. Maye starts to struggle and you have this guy who flashed even briefly and suddenly you have a QB controversy as fans want to see what the other guy has.

Exactly, if the guys has the tools to be a franchise guy he isn’t getting traded for a 5th, didn’t the Pats get a 2nd for Jimmy G
