Details:
Minkah traded to the Dolphins for Jalen Ramsey in a player-for-player swap. Ramsey also getting a slight pay bump for next year.
We have also traded for Jonnu Smith for a late round pick swap with the Dolphins. Smith gets a 1 year $12 million extension.
Wild Monday.

Full trade per Tom Pelissero:
More on the trade news: The Dolphins have agreed to trade CB Jalen Ramsey, TE Jonnu Smith and a 2027 7th round pick to Pittsburgh in exchange for S Minkah Fitzpatrick and a 2027 5th round pick, per

Neither plays WR or OT, so... though I suppose if they're working from more two TE sets, Jonnu could help the passing game a little bit.
Not sure what it says about either Muuuth (who we can't give up on because saying Muuuth and playing Renegade are the New Standard of Steelers football) or Mt. Warshington.
Player for player is nice with Ramsey and Fitzpatrick.
The 2027 pick swap protects 2026 draft assets, too.

Now we will go 5.8-5.8-5.4 instead of 5.7-5.7-5.6

This is an unserious team. There is no standard beyond see how long Tomlin can tread water before he and the team finally drown.
Going to be funny when Minka is making plays again.
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 81 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.
This is as "unsteelers" an off season, as there has ever been.
So which current TE is the odd man out? I'm assuming Frieremuth- because Smith would seem to make him redundant.
Also, I've read some commentary about moving Slay to FS- (not necessarily this season) so would you put Ramsey outside and Slay in at FS- or is Ramsey the Slot Corner, Slay one of the boundry corners and Juan Thornhill the FS
I'm perplexed. They must have someone on the roster they feel can sufficiently play FS.

I mean, just kind of swapping chairs on the Titanic at this point, no?
Pulling out all the stops, I guess, trying to win a playoff game. I think Minkah was misused, but this and other moves don't really feel like trying to rebuild a contender.

Given we do not have a legit #2 WR I imagine the plan is to run a fair amount of two TE sets with Muth and Smith. So which current TE is the odd man out? I'm assuming Frieremuth- because Smith would seem to make him redundant.
Can pass to both and might help to pull some coverage off whichever JAG they stick opposite DK.

I strongly feel that, if you are going to run double TE sets, Washington needs to be on the field as one of them.955876 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 3:43 pmGiven we do not have a legit #2 WR I imagine the plan is to run a fair amount of two TE sets with Muth and Smith. So which current TE is the odd man out? He's, by far, the best blocker and seriously under utilized as a passing target.
I just typed them running 13 personnel packages... with Metcalf as the sole WR.
I can actually see them doing this with Kaleb Johnson as the set back.
Three yards a cloud of dust and a griping set of receivers. lol

I actually don't hate it....
Jonnu is a nice weapon.
I don't think they're done either. I think they'll still try to bring in a WR. Amari Cooper?
Bonus: Connor Heyward is a goner.

Dear Mikey...it is me Jalen Ramsey...I have always dreamed of playing for the GOAT player coaches. Can you make it happen. MT ejaculates and trade happens.
Smith and Ramsey can teach Muth and JPJ about their respective roles since the coaches can't?

Love this. Minkah was so, so frustrating.
Ramsey at least made plays last year.

Maybe it was an upgrade!Despite playing in his age-30 season, Jalen Ramsey remained one of the league’s better cornerbacks in 2024. Starting and appearing in all 17 games, the former first-round pick finished the season with two interceptions, 11 passes defended, one sack, 60 tackles, six tackles-for-loss, four quarterback hits, and a 76.9 PFF grade, the 10th-best mark among eligible cornerbacks. Despite his strong play, Miami missed the playoffs and the cash-strapped Dolphins had no choice but to trade Jalen Ramsey in the offseason.

I will say, I thought 2023 was more of an injury/down year sort of issue for Minkah, but 2024 was somewhat concerning. Just looked like a different guy. Maybe all the damn tackles he had because of our shit ILBs have worn him down?

Back to the personnel playbook that brought in Joe Haden?
In a vacuum, it was a decent move. We'll have to see if the pieces obtained are actually deployed in a way that makes sense to utilize what they bring to the table.Charles Demarr wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 3:58 pmI actually don't hate it....

I do like anp's idea that it might be MT and R2's last ride, though.

These moves, including signing Rodgers for a one year deal, really feel like that’s the objective.Ice wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 4:29 pmIn a vacuum, it was a decent move. The pay bump is reportedly to cover the difference in state income tax.tbsteel wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 3:04 pmDetails:

Wild Monday.
So Jonnu will be a FA after the season, so theoretically Steelers likely get the better of this year's pick swap and then get a comp for Jonnu after the season (when Smith will be gone and sign Jonnu to his new team).

Yeah.. I suspect in the half dozen games when Muth is not concussed we will get a heavy mix of both on the field at the same time.955876 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 3:43 pmGiven we do not have a legit #2 WR I imagine the plan is to run a fair amount of two TE sets with Muth and Smith. So which current TE is the odd man out? Taking Darnell Washington off the field for something other than injury or 2-min offense is asinine.SteelPro wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 6:47 pmYeah.. Still no 2nd WR again on this another BS season without one. Unless the plan to use smith as the outside threat
Agreed. And all evidence points to Tomlin and Smith being asinine.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 6:53 pmTaking Darnell Washington off the field for something other than injury or 2-min offense is asinine.
