I know it’s preseason and level of competition and such… but we can only go by what we see. What I see is Black outperforming the #1 pick. I see Black being dominant. His movement and some technique just look so easy and natural, never mind how strong he looks. He looks like he’s having a blast as well. Harmon already has the reputation for not being able to finish from college. Maybe he’s thinking too much.

But I agree that the DL future looks bright.

Oh and as for Kenny Pickett, his competition that first preseason for the starting job was Mitch Trubisky. Kenny should have won the starting job in camp. Might have helped him to figure his shit out quicker. Sure couldn't have hurt.

I'll say it again but I think Mike Tomlin ruined Pickett. He likely would never have been a high level starter but Pickett had a natural instinct to improvise. Despite not having a big arm, Pickett was a good improvisor and Tomlin took that away. Neutered Pickett who actually wasn't too bad his rookie season. He was terrible his sophomore season but when Matt Canada is your offensive coordinator you entire Steelers career except for a total of 6 quarters, the dude was doomed to fail.

...and he did and now PIckett isn't even a serviceable QB.

Remember the first game last season vs Cincy? Wilson setting one of his best passing performances of his career? However, that pissed off Arthur Smith, a Tomlin stooge, and Russell was not the same QB after that game. Be assured, RW received a stern talking to following that game, about running the called play from Smith, not checking out of plays.

No, I do not think Ben would've become the HOF QB he did, had Tomlin been his HC from the beginning. Actually, I think Tomlin would've made him pedestrian and maybe with the Ol-lines Tomlin has deployed over the years, Ben would've been often injured.

I think Ben's natural talent would have led him to succeed despite Tomlin. But starting out with worthless yes men like Fichtner and Canada as OC wouldn't have been ideal. Worst case is that Ben might have had a Carson Wentz career trajectory, though I think Ben would have thrived had he gone to another team.

I get that Jibbs will live in his fears with a young QB, but why do so with Wilson? Especially after he had such a great game.
