Time for the FO to pull the trigger

Post by steelmann58 » Mon Aug 25, 2025 10:42 pm

I was just curious are the Steelers FO really in the belief that they are good with their WR core heading into another season? I get they want to keep the picks for the 2026 Draft. But seriously they can’t again go into another season like this. I wonder if the Steelers can get a late round pick for some of their excess players and turn those into a WR ?

When I saw the thread title I assumed you meant that it’s time for them to pull the trigger on themselves.

For that I fully agree.
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 81 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

I would imagine they are on the phone w the Raiders

Jacoby Myers

For a 3rd and Skylar Thompson

The Raiders, having been fleeced by the Steelers twice in trades for WRs would love nothing more than to return the favor lol

Uh the Raiders will not be trading their best WR after importing Geno Smith

Steelers should have swapped GP for Meyers...would have been the smart thing to do

The Steelers will not be parting with a third rounder or anything close to it.

After the Steelers use some high draft picks to move up next April to get their QB, draft choices overall are going to be in short supply.

No way they trade anymore.

The Raiders have Kenny Pickett now- what would they need with Thompson?

Trading for a WR would be dumb. Let your young guys play and develop with a veteran QB.

If there's some guy you can seriously build your future around with Metcalf, maybe, but a lot of the names floated about are just washed up vets, aging stars, or never has beens like Meyers.

I think they're satisfied with Austin and Wilson.

And why wouldn't they - Arthur Smith's brilliant plays work perfectly if the player just executes. Talent and ability has nothing to do with it.

That trade had not been announced when I made the initial post. And as soon as I saw it, I commented that that idea was shot.

Not entirely sure Skylar Thompson isn't better than KP, and that's painful to admit considering his 7th season was one of my favorites I've ever seen from my alma mater.
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...

When I saw the thread title I assumed you meant that it’s time for them to pull the trigger on themselves.

For that I fully agree.

Ah that’s great. I had completely forgot bout Noll’s quote when I said what I did.

That wasn’t Noll that said that?

No. McKay. Noll has two famous ones:
1.“Look, I’ve been watching the game films since I took the job. And I can tell you guys that the reason you’ve been losing is not because of your attitude, or your psyche, or any of that stuff. The problem is you’re just not good enough. You know, you can’t run fast enough, you can’t jump high enough, you’re not quick enough. You’re techniques are just abysmal. I’m probably going to have to get rid of most of you...and we’re going to move on.”
2. John Madden said the Chargers and Dolphins had played in "the real Super Bowl" because they were the two best teams, Noll gathered his team inthe locker room and said, “I want you guys to know that the Super Bowl is played three weeks from now. And the best team in football is sitting right here in this room.”

Just give that 3rd and Thompson. I'm surprised the traded for that failed abortion called Kenny Pickett.
