Remembering the great L. C. Greenwood on his birthday
Happy Heavenly 79th Birthday to the great L. C. Greenwood who was born this day in Canton, Mississippi, in 1946. He was born in Canton, Mississippi, but he belongs in Canton, Ohio. I will beat this drum until he gets there or I'm in my grave, whichever comes first. He is the most egregious omission from the Pro Football Hall of Fame bar none. It's a crime that he's not there now. God bless Hollywood Bags!

One of my all time faves...a great player and another great "character" on a time loaded with them back in the day..that team just didn't win, they won with style..JackLambert58 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 09, 2025 1:30 pmHappy Heavenly 79th Birthday to the great L. Absolutely ridiculous he is not in the HOF. Were he not a Steeler, he would have been in 25 years ago. Wore gold shoes, and got fined for them every game.

O..that is a great cover shot...
Great post, Jack! Agree 100%. In the biggest game of each year, he devastated his All Pro opponent in Super Bowls IX and X. He blocked 3 of Tarkenton's passes in 9, and has the still valid SB record of 4 sacks in X. He continued to play at an All Pro level the rest of the decade. That decade was the greatest decade for defense and while there were quite a few dominant DEs playing, most astute analysts of the decade consider LC the best DE of the 70s.JackLambert58 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 09, 2025 1:30 pmHappy Heavenly 79th Birthday to the great L. I hope he makes it. Maybe our focus should be to put pressure on the Rooneys to pound the drum for it the way they did with Swannee and Stalls. Hollywood Bags RIP.
I met him at a card show in Pittsburgh when I was a kid. Holy fuck was he tall! Super nice guy… Signed both my cards and thanked me for being a Steeler fan. Will never forget it.
