Texans Bucs strategy dilemma
Two minutes left, down 14-13 Chubb scores a running TD from the 25. They fail on the 2 pt conversion.
As we know Baker comes back with a TD drive and Bucs win 20-19.
Should Chubb have taken a slide at the 1-2 setting up a new set of first downs to kill the clock and set up the FG?

Chubb was also involved in a wilder game three years ago and admitted then he should have gone down

The Texans sure could've used those 3 points they gave away earlier in the game when they decided to go for it 4th and goal at the 2.
Sometimes coaches over complicate things and need to be saved from themselves.
Silver lining is that loss was in SBI.

Secure NHALS early and then go deep into the PLAYOFFS.

I agree, take the points in a close game.Texas Black & Gold wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 5:50 amThe Texans sure could've used those 3 points they gave away earlier in the game when they decided to go for it 4th and goal at the 2.

I was thinking the same thing and also wondered if Tampa Bay let them score there.Dan Smith--BYU wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 3:44 amTwo minutes left, down 14-13 Chubb scores a running TD from the 25. They fail on the 2 pt conversion.

I can't tell you the number of times I'm amazed at the lack of situational awareness by both players and coaches. Giving the ball back to your opponents when you don't have to is rarely the right call.

No, because falcons had all 3 timeouts, which COULD have resulted in their getting the ball back with nearly 2 min left and needing only a FG to win.Dan Smith--BYU wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 3:44 amTwo minutes left, down 14-13 Chubb scores a running TD from the 25. They fail on the 2 pt conversion.

A good point but the time of the execution of the three plays would have taken it down to about 1:20 which is enough time for a FG though most likely outcome is a TD.
I really don't know the answer and would like to see an expected value analysis from someone on this.
The biggest loser of this game was the Cleveland Browns. Wow did they waste a lot of talent.

I think going down at the 1 foot line gives better chance of winning, but that’s not what i want my player focused on there. If it occurs to you before scoring, great. If your mind is focused on not fumbling, even better.
