Prime Vision Alt Cast

Post by swissvale72 » Wed Oct 15, 2025 11:02 pm

Won't be able to watch Steelers live tomorrow night, but will watch the NFL Network Prime Vision Alt Cast starting at 1 am.

Any comments on Alt Cast? Never watched a game like that.

I’ve never even heard of Alt Cast.

Interested to see what people think of it. I have too many streaming subscriptions and refuse to pay YouTube TV another dollar.

Supposed to be like all-22 with special highlighting of specific players given the circumstance, etc

That sounds very interesting. I may have to look into this.

As I mentioned at the top of the game thread, it's become my favorite way to watch ball. A. it's not perfect and B. it's not for everyone. But.

You hear the regular broadcast but see the all-22 view with players identified before the snap, a prediction of man or zone in coverage, potential targeted receiver or threatening blitzer highlighted in different colors. (sometime soon, they will also have a line that shows how good the pass protection bubble is and where the closest to sacking the QB rusher is).

Then, after the play, you get the regular broadcast replays and close ups/slo-mo.

For a long time, I tried to study presnap looks, which gives me a pretty good idea what's going to be open; this aids that, allows you to see which receivers are open or about to be open, allows you to see which blockers/defenders are winning in line play, see RB holes/vision. This is stuff you just can't do in the regular angle.

Personally, I would make a few changes-- I'd spend less time with player names on the screen. I'd let you switch back and forth between the Vision broadcast and the main broadcast when watching on replay without having to find the spot you were at in the game. I'd make the main angle skycam instead of all-22 (a little tighter view)... or give you a choice of what camera angle you want as the primary, etc.

Anyway, I hope you'll try it-- it beats the hell of of regular all-22 or the normal broadcast if you want to dig deeper into the game. If you just want to have a few drinks and get the regular angle, that's okay, too.

Oh, I'm def watching that way. My choices are watching that broadcast at 1am, watching it after 4am (cuz I can't watch in broadcast recordings on my xfinity app when I'm not at home in NH), or wait until 3pm tomm when nfl network re broadcasts the regular broadcast.

When I'm in Vermont, which is more often than not now, I either watch on my phone on my Sunday ticket app or watch at Roberto's Neapolitan pizza in Barton. Roberto is a Steeler fan, I'm watching Steelers Browns their last week and this guy comes up to me, says, do you know what the patriots are doing? Points at the TV and says what is this game doing on? I say back, were steeler fans here. !!

That would be awesome to watch split screen or Picture in Picture, so you can switch between them

To each their own, but IMO Prime is the best value out there. For like $150 per year, you get free next day or two day deliveries, and Prime Video is just as good as Netflix. And you also get Prime Music. They also offer Pharmacy, and maybe even Tele-doc.
