Likely’s no-catch just as awful as the Jesse James’ no-catch call!
Not sure why a football move is required in the end zone
A runner scores the second ball touched the line
A wr that catches and toe taps in EZ scores
When his feet came down it was a TD
Not if he doesn't possess it or finish with a 3rd step or perform a football move (like tucking the ball away) the ball was moving before his third step took place. It was pure luck but it is what the rules say. We should have lost the game but we did not.
You mean a football move like, I don't know, holding the ball away from the defender for two steps?

Bungs and Browns lose. AFC Norf is in shambles.
This is truly a shitshow division.

Browns somehow lost a game to TN with Cam ward passing for 117 yards and Sanders chucking it for 364.

Ravens supposedly the class of this division never led in this game once and got ass raped by the 4-8 Bungs with the division on the line last week. They've looked sketchy and weak all year. Fuck them once the refs are finished taking their turn.

Bungs only figured out how to play football about 10 games into the season, which is about five games too late.

It's questionable we've figured it out at all yet even with the division lead. I still can't take the team seriously, even with a nice (if refball-assisted) win this week.

Whoever makes it into the playoffs from the North, either us or the Ravens, will be lucky to even get past the divisional round. I expect a hasty exit.
Honestly today was worst case scenario.

Cleveland has two first round picks and one will be top 3. Bengals and Ravens are cruising towards top 10 picks. We will win the division with 8 or 9 wins and be picking in the 20’s. We’re always too good to rebuild, never good enough to compete for anything meaningful. It’s purgatory and some people cheer for it.
You may indeed be right.
That said my Lizard brain is going to go ahead and enjoy us beating the Ravens in their house in a must win game for a little while.

Yes you know that and i know that.

Just like for me, Jesse James was performing a football move when he stretched the ball across the goal line...and the ball moved less for him than it it for Zay Flowers, IMO.

But like I said elsewhere, as soon as Likely didn't get that third step completed before the ball came out, I knew the officials would overturn it.

Tua is a statue. QB's that are dual threats give the Steelers a hard time like Lamar and Josh Allen.

I'd like to know the last time Miami beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh.

Yeah there is no question that was a TD.

Absolutely unbelievable they took that touchdown away from Baltimore.

The interpretation that he has to take a third step or make a move in the end zoen is faulty as shit. He doesn't need to make a football move... he's in the end zone with the ball! Hell, he could have taken two steps and run out of the end zone... would still be a TD. Could have nothing and stood there for three seconds, not taken any steps, and it would have been a TD. Why does he need a third step to prove he caught it in the end zone?

Furthermore, the Aaron Rodgers catching his own pass and being ruled down... isn't ARod a receiver at that point, who went to the ground inthe process of making a catch... and who didn't survive the ground? How was that not an INT, as ruled on the field? How did they determine he had caught the ball, took two steps, and made a football move before the lost the ball? Makes no sense.

if the ball wasn't slipping from his fingers before the 3rd step then it would have counted. He had not secured the catch. I didn't write the rules just reading them. Pure luck on our part along with the DB fighting and pushing his arm away from securing the ball. As the old saying goes "Play through the whistle"

AB hopping down the sideline only to be ruled an incomplete was tough but it was the rule. Just like if he had one knee down it counts as 2 feet down.

I look at it like this, if Santonio Holmes toe taps both feet but loses the ball when he hits the ground then the Steelers probably lose the SB.

You need to catch the ball and it must survive the hit or ground.

I'm okay with that not being a TD.

But honestly I would be bummed if that had happened to the Steelers.
Secure NHALS early and then go deep into the PLAYOFFS. :D :D :D

I'm fairly certain, though I'm not even going to bother to look it up, that they actually have different rules for what a catch supposedly is based on whether it's along the sideline versus in the play of field. So for some reason you don't need to survive the ground or do much along the sideline but do in the middle of the field.

No one bothers to keep up with this shit to include the people who get paid for a living to cover the sport. We just wait for the NFL to issue its talking points and get propagandized. Manufactured outrage every fucking week over the officials on basic fundamental aspects of the fucking game.

Are you not entertained?

Meanwhile, back in Baltimore, Joey Porter Jr. was beating his chest after the game. Says they "proved" they can stop Baltimore's rushing attack. They narrowly kept Henry under 100 yards and 4 YPC, but as a team the Ravens had 216 ground yards today.

I firmly believe Baltimore could have probably run the ball down the Steelers throats on that second to last drive, but insisted on getting cute and letting Lamar throw which teams have routinely done against the Steelers over the years despite gashing them on the ground. Could have killed the clock and left nothing to the refs unless they called offensive holding I guess.

Mike Tomlin praised Porter Jr. for his play against Likely and says he "knew" he didn't score. Yea, sure you did Mike. You totally had faith that the refs were coming back with that answer based on the replays.

The fix is so outrageous

Control didn’t matter earlier in the game, but did on that play, where it clearly should have been a touchdown

They're talking about him not getting the third foot down in time which is something I literally have never heard before anywhere.

So CBS AND the refs both got the Tomlin hotseat memo.
Third step is the football move; completely ignoring the neener neener neener keep the ball away from the defender football move.
ball was moving.

2013 Miami won in piitsburgh in snow Steelers almost pulled it off but brown stepped out out of bounds. On wild lateral sequence

They didn’t play each other again. Till 2016
Miami won in Miami. Steelers won In playoffs in Pittsburg

Then they played in 2019 in Pittsburg. Miami was tanking and Steelers won with mason

Then they played in 2022 in Miami. Pickett threw 3 picks. Miami only dressed 3 healthy corners that game and still won. That got Miami in playoffs in 2022 instead of Steelers because of head to head tie breaker.

Tomlin has never lost Monday night football game at home ever. Steelers should win if they stop Achane

Tomlin is 21-3 on Monday night football. Never lost at home.

If you want Tomlin gone. Losing to Miami in Pittsburgh would be huge step.

He did lose to them in 2013 when brown stepped out of bounds on lateral play against dolphins.

But Tomlin has been dominate at home on Monday night football.

I don't care a single whit about how well they run blocked or how many times they ran it. They were pass-protecting and shredding BAL's secondary. This was the kind of offensive approach I've been begging them to use against Baltimore forever and aside from a couple of ridiculous series late when they were turtling, it looked like a game with Ben at QB, attacking a defense with whatever worked.

I'm actually unsure if either the offense or defense is good enough to sustain playing not-scaredy-cat for more than a game and a half of so, but if they want to win any important game vs a good team, it should be their gameplan.

Agreed. Arthur Smith started great but man did he go shitty there at the end.

Baltimore could not stop us. Rodgers was throwing the ball extremely well. DK was torching their DBs.

Then Smith starts calling dogshit and it nearly cost us. He tends to do that - he starts getting uncomfortable and will revert to run plays and throws around the LOS in the name of “balance”.

Can we just be done with that, please? Call what works and what will keep defenses guessing.

Example - after that great INT by Pierre we have all the momentum in the world and it’s a perfect time for a killshot.

Smith calls a HB dive right up the gut for a half a yard and lets all of the air exit the balloon.

Arthur is afraid of his own shadow. You have one of the greatest QBs ever dropping dimes all over the field. Keep the foot on the gas you buffoon.

I don't beleive any of that was Arthur Smith. That looked nothing like the games he has called. I think that was your QB running the offense he wanted and adjusting as he went.

Not if he doesn't possess it or finish with a 3rd step or perform a football move (like tucking the ball away) the ball was moving before his third step took place. It was pure luck but it is what the rules say. We should have lost the game but we did not.

Here is the crazy thing about this rule.

If I catch the ball in the EZ and literally just stand there/freeze for 10 seconds and drop it, by the definition of this rule that would NOT be considered a TD

They need to go back to: if it looks like a duck, sounds like a duck, then it's a fuckin duck.
