Bye Bye Gainwell.
Bucs…2 years $14m.
Pretty nice deal, for both sides.

While I've been a big fan of Warren for a long time, I think Gainwell was a little better. But I guess that's the economics - that other guy (such a bust can't even remember his name) is going to have to earn his draft status now.
Kaleb Johnson. I’m gonna blame the Cool Shades doghouse…so fingers crossed.
I really liked Gainwell. Oh well…
Johnson can do nothing Kenny G was doing for the offense. This creates a need that isn’t that easy to fill.

Pierre is gone, but they replaced them with Dean from Tampa so that’s about an equal swap

They lost gainwell

I would love to see them sign Kenneth Walker from the Seahawks, but it looks like he’s going to Kansas City

That sucks because he’s a serious weapon- and will add a significant threat to that offense

3 year 30 million for Devin Bush, signing with the Bears, guess he was a late bloomer.

It is shocking because that seems like a little more than stop-gap starter money. And I'm shocked that Bush can still start in the NFL, because I didn't think he'd ever be a starter when he played here!

Warren was the better runner, but Gainwell was the much better receiver. Of course, the Steelers didn't use Warren as much with passing plays.

Kaleb Johnson just seemed terrible. No burst. Not particularly strong.

Three choices the Steelers must decide between:

Sign a street FA receiving RB
trade for a good receiving RB
draft one of the maybe 2 or 3 receiving RBs and start a rookie as your RB in 2min offense.

They cannot go into an legit NFL season with Warren and Johnson getting meaningful targets beyond screens and dumpoffs, and they can't have a modern NFL offense without meaningful targets to RBs running routes.

After day 1 of FA the team needs are:

LG
NT
Safety
3rd WR
3rd OT
Depth CB
Maybe depth RB

Assuming QB is off the table until next year that leaves 7 top 135 picks for 7 needs plus whoever else they can get in free agency. I think that opens the possibility to package picks and trade up.

That’s a pretty ridiculous signing. Seumalo could barely practice by the end of last year and isn’t likely long for the league. The Cards are in total rebuild mode and he won’t be there long enough to help them. Good for him, bad for them.
