Steelers have a new First round trade up partner

Post by anpsteel » Sun Apr 19, 2026 2:56 pm

Apparently The Bengals just traded their number 10 overall pick for the Giants for Dexter Lawrence

That means the Giants now have their number 5 pick and number 10 pick

I could easily see them trading that number 10 to move down

And we know the Steelers and Giants organizations are intimately related

The comedy is, of course the bangles would never trade that pick to the Steelers

But the Giants certainly will if it makes sense

I’m not advocating this because I hate trading up, but there is your clear path to getting either your top WR, OL, or less likely ILB.

Not buying the Giants thing.

However, according to Charles Robinson on Yahoo, seems Highsmith and Herbig being floated as possible trade bait possibly to move up.

Was thinking for a week.....
What would it take to grab Lawrence from the Giants.

A few years for that matter..
Draft day when he was part of it...
That Dexter Lawrence would have been a nice monster in the middle in Pittsburgh.

DL went 19th in that 2019 draft.
Steelers traded up from 20 to 10 for Devin Bush.

Would anyone have traded our 1st for DL?

Harmon. Lawrence. Benton...
Cams money moves to DL in 2027...

I haven't been following pre-draft noise at all.

Are there rumors the Steelers want to trade up?

For whom?

There are pre draft rumors about everything

But if I were to guess, the only move up would be for an immediate starter on the oline

And that would be LG, imo

it’s my opinion the sit tight and take BPA OL or WR

I think if they trade up, it would be in the 2nd to get whatever they don’t get in the 1st

Most likely in that scenario they take the WR in the first and move up to get the next tier OG

IMO the best value at WR is in the second round but their visits don’t really include many of those guys
I do not wast them to take Boston in the 1st
Don’t think he is value there
Caldwell later rounds would be nice …

Don’t be really want to trade up.

Ideally, we stay put and take the big LG.

Not only did the Dexter Lawrence trade reall happen for the 10th overall pick, the Bengals leaked today (believe it or not) that if they hadn't made the trade they planned on taking Peter Woods at 1.10.

Then match him up with Shemar Stewart. The Bengals are freaking brilliant.
