Well, it's not super hard with Rodgers to root for injuries...
At least maybe we'll get more than flashes of an NFL offense with Rodgers. I'm just looking forward to no longer having to watch a JV offense every week.

If he signs ... the nightmare is temporarily over to me ... I will be back for the Fury 2027 mock draft
tea leaves saying intent is to claim Allar is The Guy, and will be week 1 starter 2027, barring a show of exceptional ineptitude. So, our calendar appears booked until 2028. But no reason to expect anything ‘better’ at that point, just the specifics of the suffering become less predictable.
So, if Arod is signing, who gets the boot?
Hard to believe the team goes into the season with Howard and Allar as the backups. Keeping Howard and Allar would be my preference to find out how they perform in real NFL action.

So, if we're playing one of the 15 or so teams in the NFL that have a pass rush better than our OL (and it may be more than that), we're fucked again, and barring injury, we'll still go into next year's draft not having given either of our young QBs any meaningful snaps. Can't wait!

C’mon man…they’re going for it!Ice wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2026 3:01 pmSo, if we're playing one of the 15 or so teams in the NFL that have a pass rush better than our OL (and it may be more than that), we're fucked again, and barring injury, we'll still go into next year's draft not having given either of our young QBs any meaningful snaps. cant wait to watch another season of immediate throw-aways, bailing out of the pocket, falling over and then openly blaming the OL, play call and/or WRs for itIce wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2026 3:01 pmSo, if we're playing one of the 15 or so teams in the NFL that have a pass rush better than our OL (and it may be more than that), we're fucked again, and barring injury, we'll still go into next year's draft not having given either of our young QBs any meaningful snaps. I'm just gonna remind myself that Coach Mike Tomlin will have his lazy ass perched on some TV studio chair running his mouth and not coaching this team.
If Arod can stay in one piece and have a half-way decent offense to work with that's like winning at least one playoff game.

"I'm institutionalized, man," he joked. "I gotta have it. I just love the challenges week in and week out that this job provides: the growth in it, the collective growth, the individual growth."
Definitely a hot take considering Allar hasn't even taken a snap in NFL practice yet.
Maybe they trade Rudolph, otherwise it's odd that they had Howard ahead of Rudolph on the depth chart but are now penciling in a very raw rookie when Howard hasn't even had a shot in preseason yet.
Maybe they just don't like Howard's arm. I don't know. I think it's premature to write him off, even if neither him nor Allar has a future in the league. I just think it would be funny if they move Howard because that would be 2 QBs they took ahead of Purdy in the draft with neither seeing a preseason snap.

You cannot anoint Alar (or for that matter Howard) the starter for 2027 while using that for an excuse not to pick a goddamn QB in a target-rich environment UNLESS you let him play this year. You CANNOT allow the organization to be boxed in to the 3% chance maybe of Allar developing into a solid starter or better vs the 38% chance of a 2027 1st round QB doing the same or better WITHOUT knowing if the guy can play or not.Mick wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2026 2:17 pmtea leaves saying intent is to claim Allar is The Guy, and will be week 1 starter 2027, barring a show of exceptional ineptitude. To do that simply FOR PRIDE; for the DELUSION that your team is a Super Bowl contender with a washed Aaron Rodgers... it's the kind of thing that kills a franchise for a decade or more.
Okay, maybe 2027 is a disaster with the rookie unknown starting, and maybe Arch Manning, Drew Mestemaker, and Darian Mensah don't come out until 2028, Cam Heyward & TJ Watt retire or are gone, and you get on with it. Maybe even with a new HC. One can always hope. And, as I've been adding to posts like this, they seem likely to take the worst available option in a QB prospect that is widely known to their fanbase, anyway, so Julian Sayin or Henschel 2028 here we come.

Here's the problem:
IF they can rebuild Allar's footwork, and that's a big if, it will take at least a year. So how's he going to play this year? That leaves Howard as the option. Now, unless Howard has added zip to his ball through new mechanics (ala Brady) then I don't see how he can be very effective.
AR will get us to 9-8, but that is costly. It will be giving up A LOT of draft capital to get the QB we want.
Btw--I DON'T believe for a minute the Steelers fail to target a 2027 QB just because they haven't gotten a look at Allar or Howard as starters. Even they aren't that dumb.

Definitely just singled out the Bucks and Panthers QBs as the worst prospects... spending that good will built up trading up for Sonny in the Mock before the season even starts!bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2026 6:59 pmYou cannot anoint Alar (or for that matter Howard) the starter for 2027 while using that for an excuse not to pick a goddamn QB in a target-rich environment UNLESS you let him play this year. I am still so MFing thankful that MT is gone that none of this or anything else that has happened this off season is pissing me off.... yet.
Is Howard’s arm really that bad?
Purdy was said to have a weak arm and he’s done pretty damn good.
I’m no expert but Howard’s arm doesn’t look that bad in the tape I’ve seen. Now those are highlights so editing out the bad plays.
If this team (Dunce Rooney) wasn’t chickenshit they would roll with both young guys and see if hat they have leading into next year where they take another QB.
But this team is chickenshit and all about gaslighting the fans into believing they are contending. They aren’t.
They will trade/cut Howard and keep their precious Mason Rudolph out of fear of losing those couple of spot starts or relief duty the back-up will get called on for.
And then next year we will still need a QB.
Dumb ass cunt running this team.

Another year of Aaron Rodgers means a year without knowing whether or not either of the two young quarterbacks can play
AndI still don’t get the Allar pick
There have been a few quarterbacks over the years that have managed late career development, in respect to vision and processing speed
Rich Gannon, Steve Deberg maybe Randall Cunningham and Vinny Testaverde
I’m sure there’s others I’m forgetting
Anyway, if a quarterback fails at processing at the college level, how is he ever going to be able to succeed in that aspect in the NFL?
The only way the Allar pic makes sense to me, as if you expect Howard to be the starter next year with Allar backing him up
But then why would you use a third round pick on that player?
Especially if you think you’re going to need to draft a quarterback in the first round next year
Oh well, here’s to a season without having to watch the incompetence of Mike Tomlin on the sideline

Happy and I'm smiling
Walk a mile to drink your water
You know I'd love to love you
And above you there's no other
We'll go walking out
While others shout of war's disaster
Oh, we won't give in
Let's go living in the past
Once I used to join in
Every boy and girl was my friend
Now there's revolution, but they don't know
What they're fighting
Let us close our eyes
Outside their lives go on much faster
Oh, we won't give in
We'll keep living in the past
Oh, we won't give in
Let's go living in the past
Oh no, no we won't give in
Let's go living in the past

So according to Omar Khan, the Steelers had no idea that Rodgers is coming to Pittsburgh.

That may not be the case, though. General manager Omar Khan gave fans an update that many didn't want to hear. Apparently, the team doesn't know what's going on with Rodgers, and their visit this weekend may not be happening.

IF he is truly in Pittsburgh, and the team is not aware AND has no meetings planed - this is such a clown move, the team HAS to move on.
Rodgers is making them look like simps fuking lol
Edit: I'll add, I wouldn't put it past Rodgers to be doing this intentionally-
"if you want to dick w/ me by putting some sort of bullshit tag on me- I'll make you look like clowns." "I'm going to fly in to your city. Make it known, that I am going to be there, AND purposely NOT meet with you."
wag the effing dog lol lol
i like the implied spin in the story that the "fanbase" will be disappointed if he doesnt sign
I think he and rooney may really believe this
rodgers can piss off
I liked him fine before -- wasnt a hater. but fully tired of his shit on the field and off
especially as IMO -- him being there or not really doesnt matter towards real success
he is not a difference maker -- not even close ... and IMO he is a limiting factor on the field

This is 100% true. But sadly A2, Mike McCarthy, and the rest of the Steelers brass believe that he is. That’s why the entire organization is bending over and grabbing their ankles…he is not a difference maker -- not even close ... and IMO he is a limiting factor on the field…
Clown Show!!!

Funny...the only parties to this not upset are the only two that really matter...the player and the organization.
My take, not that it matters....the majority of you asshats, the media and yinzers in general vastly overplay the significance of this saga and underplay the players performance last year and his value to the team this year.

As General Manager of AssHat Central -- we do not share your opinion on 'value" or "player performance"
