If it’s MM I will be done with them. Btw Udelinski (SP) is going to the browns.
i think shula is the wrong color.Stosh-67 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 18, 2026 7:26 pmI would go Klint Kubiak............jebrick wrote: ↑Sun Jan 18, 2026 6:30 pmhttps://steelersnow.com/steelers-coachi ... rowns-job/
Chris Shula turned down an interview with the Browns
or another offensive mind.
But I think Shula is the leading candidate
from a Steelers viewpoint, young, DC............
betting money is on Shula.

Scheftty reporting Mike McCarthy getting an interview
Yinzer for the yinzers
Mike McCarthy being hired would end that fandom.
That would be a beyond depressing hire
The very thought of reuniting McCarthy with Rodgers just shows the depths Art is willing to stoop to continue his beloved NHALS

Steelers will talk to former Packers coach Mike McCarthy and have a second in-person interview with Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores this week as they search for Mike Tomlin's replacement, per sources.

I’ve talked myself into Shula but it looks like Mike McCarthy is the “whew it could’ve been much worse” ringer to clear the runway for Art to hire Flores.

Glad to be wrong, but please, no.
They also decide before interviewing Klint, would be almost criminal.

I can see that side of it.
I could also see a side where this is a team ripe for offensive identity, consistency, and direction versus one that has been set in stone (as far as everyone on the same page, etc.), and with personnel especially.
But that Rooney factor.....ugh.

Mike McCarthy being hired would end that fandom.
And bringing back Aaron Rodger’s would come close
Both of them would end my interest in football all together

I completely disagree. This is the premier coaching spot in all of sports. Where are you going to get the security and support you do here? There's 55 years of proof of that. Needing to tweak or even rebuild the roster won't scare away any offensive mind worth a damn. The Kubiaks got a hell of a lot out of two QBs that were run out of town by more than one team. Their confidence in winning with the Steelers will not be a problem.SteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Sun Jan 18, 2026 11:46 pmNo decent offensive coach wants any part of the Rooneys or PittsburghAirRescueFF wrote: ↑Sun Jan 18, 2026 11:44 pm

Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”

You may have an owner that is patient, but he’s also hopelessly lost when it comes to football
He’s seriously passive aggressive, cowardly, and doesn’t want to make decisions
Remember AR2 is the problem. Tomlin being coach for at least a decade longer than he should have been, is the symptom

AR2s clock is ticking. He should cede full control soon
Best to set up based on Danny’s
Dan gave the mgt over to Art 2 in 2002. When he was 69
Art 2 is now 72. It’s time to move the seats

Should we be cheering for the bears so we can get Schelhaase and Shula in for in-person interviews?

I don't understand the 2nd interview for Flores. No one else is showing that much interest in him. He can run a good D, but he does not instill confidence in me. His OC hires in Miami were dogshit.
I have to think Shula would have gotten a 2nd by now, but he's busy.

I am hopeful that the interviewing of Flores and McCarthy are serving to get veteran coaching perspective of the roster and maybe assess their interest as coordinatorsfranco32 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 19, 2026 12:49 amI don't understand the 2nd interview for Flores. You know if Art hires a super green HC, you have to figure he’s going to control the hiring of the coordinators
Just a wild guess

What is the Steelers facination with Flores. His 24-25 record going 5-11,10-6, and 9-8 really doesn’t excite me at all.AirRescueFF wrote: ↑Sun Jan 18, 2026 11:44 pmJobu wrote: ↑Sun Jan 18, 2026 11:06 pmIt’s gonna be Flores…it was always gonna be Flores!Steeldrama wrote: ↑Sun Jan 18, 2026 11:00 pmI’ve talked myself into Shula but it looks like Mike McCarthy is the “whew it could’ve been much worse” ringer to clear the runway for Art to hire Flores.

I sure hope Dick face didn't recommend Rooney to hire him.

Maybe I’m jaded, but I have no trust in this organization.
The interview process is optics. Just like it was always gonna be Khan when the GM job came open, they knew the minute Tomlin was let go who they wanted as successor, and I believe that guy is Flores. We’ll see.
