2023 SF Board Mock Draft - comments
Re: 2023 SF Board Mock Draft - comments
PFF must be idiots
I did a mock and somehow Darnell Washington was STILL available at 17
I grabbed him and received an F for the pick
Can you believe this shit?

Well, PFF are idiots, so there's that. That draft simulator has the absolute worst prospect rankings/grades of any I have ever, ever used. I can't even make it through any draft there, even just to see how others might see the prospects.

If Darnell makes it past 10 in the real draft I’d be shocked
I’d like to see us move up into Top 10 and grab him…offer 17 + 32 + a 1st next year
He’s that kind of talent
Won’t escape Top 10

He is unique. If you're looking for an outlier blocking TE... like he'd be drafted if he were an OT... there aren't a lot of those guys. Late first round wouldn't shock me, but not every team in the league is as run-oriented as say Indy, Baltimore, or PIT. If Ozzie were still in BAL, he couldn't pick that dude fast enough.

Just remember, there are draft idiots everywhere. I remember people here talking shit about Decastro. I was also told TJ Watt was not worthy of a first round pick amongst other gems over the years.
In their current state, I hate everything about this organization.

I'll admit that is has become very difficult to tell who is an off-ball LB and who is a legit standup EDGE (because of the way CFB is being played right now). I thought for sure TJ Watt was going to be a big Off-Ball or an undersized EDGE because of the way he was deployed in Wisconsin. Later, when he tested and was bigger and badder than I thought, I was totally down with picking him anytime, any place. But I do admit my take on him evolved when he looked and tested more like an elite EDGE than he did just based on tape.

Just pointing out how ridiculous they are with their rankings
Realistically, in the actual real draft, where do you see Darnell going?
Colts at 4?
Does he get out of the Top 10?

Real draft ?? If it were based on ceiling it should go 1 Richardson 2 Washington……..everyone elseJizz Mop wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 3:52 pmAbsolutely notSteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 3:49 pmLolololz

The one big red light with Washington is lack of big numbers at UGA.
If you can look past that he’s the biggest target in the nfl with great hands and he’s a natural boxing out. Now factor in his blocking. Now put him in a 2 TE offense.
I don’t know where he’s gonna go.
You tell me. Which defender in the NFL would consistently neutralize his contributions all game ? IDK who that is at the moment

Heck, JJ Watt was by far a bigger projection than TJ was. Converted TE, limited experience, weird NCAA usage, etc. he had movement, athletic skills and size, but it was a risk.
That is definitely the worst draft simulator, btw, and since we're comparing it to other draft simulators, that's saying something.

How about what pick/round based on 32 teams’ assessments?

What defenders in the NFL would you task with shutting him down in the red zone ? And as a blocker ?

Washington's lack of receiving numbers are pretty well explained by the fact that the unanimous best TE in next year's class (and one of the top returning players in the nation regardless of position, according to some) was snagging quite a few of those balls, too. Embarrassment of riches at the position for Drama's Dawgs.SteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 4:06 pmReal draft ?? Darnell Washington, insane ceiling
Shame GA neglected to use this gargantuan mismatch properly:
Season - 28 for 454, 2TDs
SEC championship vs LSU - 1 rec for 14 yards
Semifinal vs OSU - 1 rec for 9 yards
Championship game vs TCU - 1 rec for 28 yards

As an aside
The bad teams in the nfl can pretty much be reliably counted on to make the wrong moves
Will the Colts take a QB at 4 ?? Probably. Should they ? Unless it’s Richardson probably not. But they will almost assuredly do the wrong thing on several levels
Wait til I’m done with this draft and look at the Colts real draft and you tell me who you think did a better job

Who covered him in college ball? A mismatch of his size, weight and catching ability surely can’t be held in check by college players.SteelerDayTrader wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 4:26 pm

After 92 picks, 39 offensive and 53 defensive players have been drafted. Or, about 42%(O) to 58%(D).
Does that surprise you?.....or.....About what you expected?

We're largely Pittsburgh fans, so it wouldn't surprise me if that's a reflection of our draft needs this year.
Also, I think it's a stronger year for defense.

If a TE has good hands, knows how to use his body in traffic, can block well, has enough speed, and will work to run good routes
It’s a tough position to stop
Is Washington gonna end up Gronk like ? Maybe
Is Washington gonna bust out ? I doubt it but maybe
At the end of the day he has a ceiling higher than anyone in this draft if he lands on the right team with a HC that will exploit the edge he has naturally

With Brock Bowers (the aforementioned All-American TE) leading the team in receptions and TDs. Only so many balls to go around.
