When the team sucks, Tomlin NEVER says it smells nice, so I have no idea what you're talking about. You just don't like the WAY he tells you the team sucked. His phrases simply rub you the wrong way.
I think it's because everyone knows HOW he tells us the team sucks is simply politics.
It's a variation of Andy Reid's "I gotta do a better job" which just totally grated on Eagles' fans after hearing that over and over, but the results never changed.
And that coupled with the fact that certain things (mental mistakes, sloppy play, Tomlin's abysmal clock and game management, etc) seem to keep happening over and over, combined with the empty and vacuous phrases, make it appear as if Mike Tomlin doesn't have a clue as to how to make things better.
It gives the impression, deserved or undeserved, that he is in over his head.
It's a press conference. The notion that the HC is going to tell you and every other HC how he is going to improve the team in any way that will amount to more than a platitude is an asinine expectation.
If Tomlin was a straight talker and keeps on losing, you will still have the impression that he is in over his head. Continuing to lose = unable to fix = in over your head.
Who gives a shit what he says at pressers.
Again, his way of speaking simply rubs some of you the wrong way.
Me? I rather enjoy his little idiosyncrasies.
Well- this is true.
I don't necessarily mind them...then again, I never listen to them.

Exactly. You are on record as saying, "Show me." I agree.

I'd like to go on record as loving Tomlin pressers. I love hearing the Tomlinisms.

At least in his case his play was going to be limited early on because of the learning curve. So hopefully he can continue to learn & participate in non-contact drills so his recovery won't really hurt his development.
