Not many starter quality guys are looking to come here to be a third string quarterback behind a franchise guy
I'd get by with two QBs and let someone else stay on for depth.
You can always pick up someone...there are enough guys way better than Jones laying around.
Plus...there's a message that could be sent...we aren't tolerating mediocrity on the roster anymore.
(Of course, this team kept Justin Brown, so never mind about messages...).
Jones will never develop into a starter in this league.
NEVER.
Duly noted they obviously think differently
I don't really get to attend practice so I'll reserve my opinion for when I do
That's right...these guys looked AWESOME in practice.
When the games were actually played?
Not so much.

Again duly noted
If you say it three more times I might actually start giving a shit
It's a quarterback driven league so you may as well find a quarterback to develop never a bad idea to collect quarterbacks especially ones that you believe in
They obviously have some belief in him

I think FC's take is more accurate.
But of course in your world, coaches and front office folks' ONLY motivation is winning.
They NEVER make sub-optimal moves borne out of other motivations...like, say, trying to give a HoF WR every chance in the world to reach a receiving milestone.

Looks like I'll have to wait another year to say, "Landry Jones sucks poodle balls and will never be a good QB in this league"
I'm sure when they do finally give up on him, Tomlin will hope everyone will have forgotten Jones was his man.

Rob Blanchflower, TE
Shaquille Richardson, DB
Ross Ventrone, DB
Josh Harris, RB
Stephen Houston, RB
Josh Mauro, DL
Howard Jones, LB
Dan Molls, LB
Derek Moye, WR
Graham Pocic, OL
Really hate seeing Howard Jones & Josh Mauro on the cut list. "Fingers Crossed" !!!
Wouldn't mind seeing a Curtis Painter type QB swapped out for Landry Jones and I'm real interested in seeing which Punters and Kickers were cut?
Was just thinking we should try to get Painter now that the NYG cut him

That's exactly why you don't keep one like Jones and cut players with some potential like Moye and Carter and even Richardson..... we could pick up a stadium vendor and probably get about as much productivity out of him as we will Jones.
We can pick up "place any name here" if we needed a 3rd QB.

Shame shaq got hurt. Imagine he's a practice squad player.
5 WR if I'm remembering right
I never thought Moye would make the team. He's not very good at all, and isn't an NFL player.
I didn't think Brown would make it either. And the fact he made it just shows how bad our WR corps is.
After seeing K Benjamin the other night, I'm coming around to B2B's view on the draft -- could have been a huge mistake to pass on this guy. He and AB would have been explosive.

In the long run, it doesn't really matter because I don't think anyone of substance lost their job because the Steelers kept Jones.
This year truly was like one poster said...the hard part about the cuts this year was stopping at 53.

I am reading the roster correctly?
The steelers are only carrying 3 OLB's at this point. ( Worilds, Jones and Moats)
5 ILB's in Shazier, Timmons, Garvin, Spence and Williams.
Which of those 5 gets kicked over to OLB if needed? Shazier???

if we're gonna discuss drafting mistakes, how about examining our recent CB draft choices....of which 0 are on the team from the most recent couple of years...

J,Brown, Laundry, Wing and plenty more turds in the punch bowl. I don't think I'll dip my cup in it.
Juxtaposed to Deebo retiring it shows the horror that is this roster. Built from the draft? Try destroyed from the draft.
I was in the B2B camp about Benjamin but knew they would take a ILB, just not that one. Yes Benjamin looks slow but so does a Lockheed C-5 Galaxy on take off. Its isn't slow its just humongous.
Ike Tez and Willie Gay vs Cotchatron, Benjamin Olsen(?)and whoever just doesn't seem fair. Oh Harry Shaz and Papa Smurf Moore are better, right?

But but but. This front office has won in the past. The nerve of you to be critical.
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 88 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

OL also and injuries are certain. Adams is like a tennis player with no backhand, our b/u tackle can't fucking pass block.

Timmons has in the past. Shazier could probably rush from the edge, situationally at least.

I can't believe they kept Laundry and J. Brown. Laundry sniffed too much bleach and fried his brain on the field - look timid and uncomfortable. I liked the looks of Kay much better even though they only played him at the end of the last preseason game, which sucks and was unfair for him. J. Brown is lazy in and out of his cuts and I don't think he will fight for the ball like Moye did last year in his limited play. How J, Brown passed Moye on the depth chart only leads me to believe once again that Tomlin is see shadows that aren't there and is completely clueless. I saw nothing of him on the field that would tell me he is any good at all. Moye never really got his chance with the ones.

Moye and Brown both suck.

I do know this, this is the first year in a long time that I wasn't upset at a cut. Don't think we will miss any of these turds.
Could have/should have cut a few more.
