I'm more interested to see how a frontrunner does in an offense that prefers to ease in and get to Q4.beerbrother wrote: ↑Thu Jun 05, 2025 11:34 pmAarp…n Rodger better hope the play of Steelers left tackle doesn’t put him into early retirement.
If the line holds up he can still deliver the ball. He did like play action with Green Bay. Maybe he can manage Smith’s offense.

Honestly I believe the media machine would blame Rogers’ age and give Fraudlin a free pass, yet again.Gonzo wrote: ↑Thu Jun 05, 2025 8:57 pmtomlin and by extension rooney really believe that if they just have a QB that can execute the tomlin/smith playbook than they have a chance in the "tournament" -- execution and some luck ... thats their motto. This is based on two false beliefs -- that execution is all that matters on O (plays called is irrelevant) and that their D is high quality.
We are about to find out the validity of that -- and I believe it ill be proven wrong finally
Yep. It's a free pass, just like Wilson was.Thrillsseeker wrote: ↑Fri Jun 06, 2025 12:00 amHonestly I believe the media machine would blame Rogers’ age and give Fraudlin a free pass, yet again.
At least a few in the media are no longer making the excuse and acknowledging Tomlin owns that roster.
Oh they absolutely would. Maybe not 100% of them like he’s enjoyed for so many years but a majority would absolutely blame Rogers.Honestly I believe the media machine would blame Rogers’ age and give Fraudlin a free pass, yet again.
Nevermind Jibba is the dipshit who wanted him here.
I wish I was never to blame at my job the way Jibbs always gets a pass.
Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 82 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

Trade for Jonnu?
Trade for Lazard? I think this is the most likely scenario.
I’m sure Charles is right.
The Steelers will go dumpster diving.
But, if you’re going to do something might as well do it right.

Not sure how much better a 42-year old Rodgers is than a prime Mason Rudolph. Rodgers’ numbers last year were very similar to what I would expect from Mason over a full year.
But we were thin, and now we’re a little deeper, at the position.

Prediction: Howard will start more games than the others.

Secure NHALS early and then go deep into the PLAYOFFS.

Selling our soul for 9-8.
Well, this team hasn't had a soul in many years. Our culture f'n blows and is nothing to be proud of or emulated.
GD I hope we're dog shit this year. The unearned hubris that permeates this entire organization is so tiring anymore. I am hoping beyond hope that we have some massive losing streak this year that highlights how broken this team really is.

Rodgers gave the New York Jets one of the best seasons they'd seen at quarterback in 20 years. He also accomplished that after recovering from an injury that basically had him out the entire previous season.
AR has electric arm talent, and I have no doubt Aaron Rodgers can still play football at an elite level.

Rodgers hasn't put up a good season since 2021. That's forever ago for a 41 year old QB. That said, he's probably still good enough to make a solid run at NHALS.
Sigh.
Our only hope of breaking the NHALS cycle is Rodger's and Tomlin's malignant narcissism clashing and then crashing out in public. Hmmmm, that sounds familiar.

All due respect bingo the jets didn’t really set the QB bar high either.
Never was a fan of this move but did come in on the cheap. Reported under $20M.
Understanding now it is a done deal.

But I feel that is kind of the point, Steelafan. The Jets. He made chicken salad out of chicken ____.
Aaron was being pushed out by 2022 in GB. Pittsburgh will be the best scenario he has been in since 2021.
That he would sign on before Mandatory Minicamp starts next week (6/10 - 6/12) concludes he wants to play football and wants to be a Pittsburgh Steeler. That development comes as exciting news, because it pushes back on a lot of the offseason noise surrounding his *real* feelings about playing football. When he's there next week, that communicates his real feelings about football.

He can still make the throws, like Ben could still WHEN HE HAD TIME (which was rare). Better mobility than Ben, but maybe not much at this point.
And we're liable to see a similar approach to Ben, which is protect him excessively trying to drag him healthy to the finish line.
Rodgers is probably still willing to run PA and the sneak, but it's hard to imagine the offense looking much different than Ben's last year because the underlying issues are all still there - bad pass pro, needing to protect a fragile QB, and playing not to lose.
I just got a chuckle out of the idea of "prime" Bibberty. "As good as it's gonna get" Bibbs is probably more accurate.Who Dee Knee wrote: ↑Fri Jun 06, 2025 5:37 amNot sure how much better a 42-year old Rodgers is than a prime Mason Rudolph. I don't mind acquiring talent at a reasonable cost.
What I do mind is the tail wagging the dog when it comes to this sort of shit.

Man, people are going to meltdown if all those picks they had PIT packaging to move up for a QB next year instead goes to trade for a WR for Rodgers....Deebo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 06, 2025 5:17 pmI don't mind acquiring talent at a reasonable cost.

Why has he still not signed a contract? I'll believe he's on the team if and when he's under contract.
“ But Brian was the quarterback. He lay on the ground like a sniper had shot him, so they threw me out. It’s big entertainment now, protect the quarterback, $200 to your favorite charity.”
The upside to all of this, aside from sheer entertainment value of watching a live train wreck, is,
This - the move for Rodgers. Trading for DK Metcalf. Apparently trying to trade for another starting capable receiver...
This feels like Tomlin is going all in, in a last chance before he's done, effort.
So... maybe, just maybe, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Fingers and toes all double crossed.
