Possible Head Coach candidates
Re: Possible Head Coach candidates
I can see them going with Freeman from ND.
But I don’t care who it is, anyone but Tomlin for the win.

I’m leaning this way as well. Dunce is a chickenshit, complacent, coward. He fears change above all else.Gonzo wrote: ↑Tue Dec 09, 2025 6:26 pmi have swung back the other direction -- only changes of perception are comingDan Smith--BYU wrote: ↑Tue Dec 09, 2025 6:25 pmI would consider Aaron Rodgers but no way in hell the Rooneys go that way
He's clearly smarter than the other coaches when he is on the sidelines
rodgers is coming back or another older FA QB
NOTHING is going to change - they are happy
i can almost guaranty the following series of events
steelers make the playoffs at 9-8
steelers lose badly to the bills as they repeat the same plan used in their last 75 games and are once again called out for appearing to quit
steelers fire smith and austin
steelers release some vets and blame them
steelers state that not establishing the run is their greatest failure - back to basics
steelers sign rodgers again or another 30+ FA QB
steelers run the same O as this year - U-shape and even more conservative ... more straight running plays
steelers draft another RB not a QB
Their “changes” like they’ve been these last several years will be nothing more than window dressing to further gaslight the fans.
Here is where I differ….
- Rogers won’t be back. He’s tasted Jibba’s cooking and is no longer hungry.
- they will draft a QB. I am almost certain the Dunce wants to give Jibba another 1st round QB. Especially with the draft in Pittsburgh.
That QB will be a reach like Pop-Gun Pickett was.
We will continue to be a joke in this league till Jibbs is gone and a new Rooney is in charge,
"Especially with the draft in Pittsburgh."
I can see this a couple ways.
Coach T brought on camera to give his extra special thoughts on the draft from a Steeler perspective, as a former coach.
He's coming back next year. That ain't gonna happen. Not a good story to have the longest tenured black guy get fired the previous season as the draft in the Burgh.
The NFL doesn't do things that way.
But, if the jackass left and retired...my God the celebration of the Great Coach Mike would be excruciatingly nauseating.
I can see that.
I dont know what's worse. It all sucks.

No trusting Tomlin calling the shots with all these draft picks and think he will be around to make those picks
Coach T has a history of negligence and incompetence with the draft and with the players they select in the draft.
See: Najee asking for help and Coach blowing him off, and Najee having a lackluster career.
That's objectively true.

he will be back next year -- and is lobbying now for this option to be picked up for 2027
He has no desire to leave - why would he

Will they throw in a marble bust to be displayed behind glass at Heinz and a giant black marble statue to be installed at the Point?

We know how these things unfold here when there’s a riff in the product on the field and accountability is required.
The much overly rated, praised and paid ‘Historic Defense’ is Historically BAD!
We also know fraudlin will not be the one held accountable and not fired or forced to resign.
I think it obvious Teryl Austin is the fall guy this season and will likely be relieved of his position.
That said, what I’m seeing in the rumor mill is there may be a familiar name available to replace Austin.
What are your opinions on Raheem Morris replacing Austin?

Sure why not
Coach Rah and Uncle Artie can spin yarn about the good 'ol days visiting our awesome aquarium, Stone Mountain, I85 traffic, and the World of Coke.
Maybe Jerry Glanville and June Jones are looking for work too.
Who knows maybe Jerry will leave some tickets for Elvis or Richard fucking Petty.

Nick Markakis on Astros: "Every guy over there needs a beating."
Will there be a change in philosophy? If not then perhaps toss a HS coach in there.Steelafan77 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 10, 2025 3:10 pmWe know how these things unfold here when there’s a riff in the product on the field and accountability is required.

This crap of trying to have 3 techs play NT has failed over and over again but the Steelers keep going to that well. Either switch to a 4-3 or get a real 0-1 tech for the middle.

Whether it’s Morris or someone else in 2026, Atlanta’s head coach will face an uphill battle in turning around a franchise that just extended its playoff drought to eight years.

I don't understand why the Falcons willingly signed up for another Raheem Morris carousel spin. He's overmatched as a HC.
There may be a slim chance if this stuff about options being leaked is true
What if Tomlin demands the option be exercised before next season starts or even an extension but ownership says no he needs win next year ?

Dunce would cave. Just like he caved for Scam. Just like he caved for TJ.
I guarantee Dunce wants no of having to choose the next coach.
Can also pretty much guarantee he will fuck it up.
There's not a snowballs chance in hell that Tomlin would coach next year as a lameduck and Art II isn't going to even broach that subject. And as much as I hate Tomlin, that's the right course of action. the entire season would devolve into speculation about his future and you don't want players knowing that they can outlast their coach. There's reasons teams don't do that.
I don't even understand the March deadline. You might as well have made it like a week after the regular season ends because if you aren't exercising it, then you are getting rid of him. Which is a choice you want to make as soon as possible at the end of the season. Curious what their thought process was on that.
Sherron Moore will be available

Next Steelers OC. Side note, what kind of crackhouse are they running up in Ann Arbor?

That situation is way off the rails if the Internet rumors are even half true

Priceless, and perfectly true. We talk about Tomlin's coaching tree... Crazy Jimmy Harbs has a forest fire for one at the moment.Steeldrama wrote: ↑Thu Dec 11, 2025 3:24 pmObviously a serious situation but this one made me laughIce wrote: ↑Thu Dec 11, 2025 1:35 pmGot my popcorn out, had it out since yesterday afternoonSteeldrama wrote: ↑Thu Dec 11, 2025 12:50 pm

There's hope that Tomlin's coaching tree may bud very soon. Tom Arth is the betting favorite to coach a high school team in Cleveland.
I'm pretty sure he can set the standard there and get them to at least .500 like his mentor would.

It's actually kind of bizarre, because it's not particularly relevant, especially given hardly anyone knew it was an option year.
I AGREE Tomlin's agent probably leaked this. I just don't know for what purpose. If I were an optimist, I'd think this is actually about signaling other potential teams of Tomlin's status.
The fraud is only about money. If only he cared as much about getting embarrassed in the playoffs...
The funniest part of this Michigan stuff is that it all magically came to light right after the game against Ohio State. That they lost.
Coincidence?
Coincidence?
Luckily for the recruits they defrauded on National Signing Day, last week, the portal opens January 2nd.

Of course it's not a coincidence. UM is always into some shady shit.
Note: not an OSU (or CFB for that matter), fan

Funny they see Tomlin as Marvin Lewis 2.0

Sorry Whacked, you are whacked on this one buddy lol
No way for so many reasons. Talk about a HC that would be just good enough to stick around forever. Tomlin would be here for 20 years of mediocrity having winning seasons without winning a Playoff game. Yeah, similar to Marv, just a less likable person who used to coach the team we all hate the most. Zac is better than Mike, at least Zac's teams are tough late in the regular season and in the Playoffs.
For instance if we somehow get into the Playoffs this year, I wouldn't count us out even with the terrible Defense that Golden had going until the last couple of games. Things have improved.
Now if we don't make the Playoffs, we should fire Zac because of his poor starts to seasons, his poor record after byes and for not getting into the Playoffs 3 years in a row. The team would be regressing under him and we cannot have that in our Joe Burrow window. Bring in Flores or the most likely candidate in my mind, Vance Joseph.
