I think if he has the coaching itch, he might go back to college, where he can be worshipped for his accomplishments at the NFL level.DumlinBumlinStumlin wrote: ↑Fri Jan 16, 2026 1:14 pmTomlin won’t coach again

His fraud was on tape for years.
Old folks home with all that money thrown to these washed up guys
Unless the post coaching sour lights a fire in him to thump his chest some more
Us “haters” got him on to his life’s work

It was more than just this year. It’s been several years of warfare on his fraud. He blocked it out or let on he didswissvale72 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 16, 2026 1:22 pmYeah, it was all you asshats rooting for losses, like both Baltimore games and Detroit, that made up Tomlin's mind.DumlinBumlinStumlin wrote: ↑Fri Jan 16, 2026 1:14 pmTomlin won’t coach again

When Kiya Tomlin posts happy birthday to their daughter when it’s not her birthday……I think they all felt the strain
And the issues with Dino
The fire Tomlin from the fans was our way of saying we’re done, Tomlin do you agree. We see you
He took the face saving measure

They can dress it up however they want for all egos involved - he was fired/let go/asked to step down/given a choice
No one can pretend he didn’t fail or that they didn’t see coming … it’s been discussed in the media for a year
Rooney appears to be someone that avoids conflict and prefers the indirect approach, but you won’t convince me he was going to run it back again
Not with the draft, the failure. The attention to failure in the media, the bullshit about historic talent and schematics, and the Home Field humiliation
And if everyone wants to say it a nice way … It was Time for a Change

I lean towards him coaching again. He may have been run down or fed up at times, but in general he genuinely seems to enjoy the grind and he hasn't won anything in so long that I think he still has the itch to prove something.
Cowher had the opposite career arc and seemed just at peace in his final season even during losses. Wasn't the same guy with the same passion and he probably knew it. He got pretty worked up by that Falcons game where they called Nate Washington for a flinch but that was about it all year and I think that's still the game where he was seen yucking it up with Vick wasn't it?
Regardless, I wouldn't rule out Tomlin getting into the TV thing and realizing he can make all the moneys with a fraction of the work (and I still believe Tomlin put in less hours than many of his peers - though they were still probably pretty damn long and tiring) and stay there.
We'll just wait and see. Teams will make offers to him. There will be the attempt to entice him back no matter what.

ExactlyCKSteeler wrote: ↑Fri Jan 16, 2026 5:59 amOn the question of whether Tomlin was forced out or not - remember this is the same organization that retired two coaches in Bruce Arians and Dick Lebeau who never actually intended to retire. Released statements as an organization and Art II got up in his presser and insisted they were retiring.
I don't know why he feels the need to do this. It's the NFL coaches get fired. Even long term ones. I don't know if this is the case with Tomlin, bu there's zero reason to believe Art II on anything.
Rooney with the, “he retired” option is about the same as “he stepped down”
AR2 is the most passive aggressive chickenshit
Another thought, of Tomlin really stepped down of his own volition, why didn’t he hold a final press conference?
I’m starting to think Art pushed him or gave him terms he knew Tomlin wouldn’t accept

It’s like getting drunk in a bar and picking a fight with some 6’8 350 pound kickboxer. By the time you get to the parking lot you know you’re in over your head and wise up so you just walk to your car and drive away.sowhat wrote: ↑Thu Jan 15, 2026 8:14 pmi just find it strange that a guy as selfish and arrogant as him would voluntarily walk away from a great gig like this.
big money. no accountability, no expectations, 20 years sounds better than 19, coaching win record in sight…
doesn’t make sense to me.
of course i don’t see rooney caring about more than .500 and loves the 3 coaches in 60 years crap, throw in tomlins color….
there has to be much more to the story . doubt we ever find out tho.
We were all pissed and embarrassed about all of the playoff drubbings. Tomlin isn’t that dumb, he had to know at some point he just didn’t have what it takes to win anymore and was holding the team back. More so, he knew that we knew as well and things were going to just get worse for him. I don’t think he’s ever coming back to coaching.

Who really believes someone with Tomlin's ego who loved the mic would NOT have held a press conference for a legitimate resignation? Makes no sense at all.
He was forced out. Think about how abrupt it all was and how the PR statements weren't even timed together.
Maybe Danny finally got to his pops?

People were claiming that ‘rooneys are never going to fire him’, but reality is they didn’t need to, they just had to say “we just aren’t close to what your agent is asking for”, and as soon as they agree to disagree it ends.

Not an Apprentice style termination, "You're Fired!".
Soft firing Steeler way, "he retired".

Just for context....kids who were in kindergarten the last time Tomlin won a playoff game are now in high school
