I don't know why that pic always gave me the goosebumps. I was born 18 years after this HR.

I was five years old at the time in first grade and I wish I could say that I remember the max homerun or the winning the series. But… My only memory of it is our first grade teacher, giving us the choice of watching, or maybe listening to the World Series, or walking down the fire escape. For us little kids walking down the fire escape was a big deal and we chose the fire escape.
Now for my then 14-year-old brother Tony it was a bigger deal. My dad, who hated the pirates for a number of inconsequential reasons largely centered on hating bob Prince, was offered tickets ton game, six or game seven by one of his customers, my dad being a barber. Dad chose game six because in his words… This series will never go seven games.… So he saw the Pirates lose 12 nothing and when max hit his shot heard round the world my dad was cutting hair in his Swissvale barbershop. . Now Tony remains pissed that my dad took my mom instead of him to that World Series game. And he's also pissed that the next day he wasn't allowed to stay home from school, he was hitchhiking home to Swisshelm Park from ninth grade at Taylor Allderdice high school listening to the game on radio when Maz hit his homerun.
But I have zero memory of that home run or the pirates winning the World Series, just my class choosing to walk down that fucking fire escape instead of watching the game

The thing that's so crazy about that pic is that there are at least two women kinda fearlessly hanging over the railing.

The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently.
