2023 SF Board Mock Draft - comments
Re: 2023 SF Board Mock Draft - comments
Anthony Richardson is giving me big-time EJ Manuel vibes....except Manuel was far more successful in college.
Honest q: Are there any QB's that had mediocre-to-bad production in college that went on to become a quality NFL QB? Josh Allen is the only example i can think of (and he was an extremely unique case).

I'm going to update all the trades on the board and if no one has made an offer, I will pick after that.

IIRC, here are the deals:
ATL-NE 8 to 14 swap... "ATL trades back, and has traded picks #8, 110 & 159 to NE (ol skool) for... picks #14 and 46 from NE. ___
Quenton Nelson to NE
DeForest Buckner deal
HOU - Den swap (just about to be announced.
Colts get Devin Bush for 4.123 5.151 5.154"
Am I missing any?

Agreed 100%DP39 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 7:54 pmIDK, it wouldn't surprise one bit if he goes in the 20 or so. Hell, it wouldn't upset me terribly if we traded back to 19-22 and took him. Even before STD was on Washington's jock, I kept telling this board (my daughter goes to UGA, so I've seen his every snap) that outside of QB he might be the most valuable piece in this draft. He automatically improves three position rooms when you add him to your roster.Charles Demarr wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 7:37 pmI mean I guess I could see him sneaking into the late first round in the real draft, but he’s more likely a second rounder.
Take the Steelers for example. He would replace Gentry as TE2. Not only does he push Muth for TE1, he is immediately your best OT3 as your BEST blocking TE. He makes both tackles exponentially better when he's lined up next to them -- whether he's full-on blocking or just chipping (that's a big ass chip). He also makes your WR room better. He's a good pass catcher, has the tools/work ethic to become a very good one, and has the athleticism to run decent routes -- not to mention a major bitch to bring down once he gets rolling!
As Tomlin says: "it's all about the more you can do."
I don't think there's a more bang for your buck player in this draft.

TRADE!
Houston Texans send picks 3.65 and 5.161 + Blake Cashman to the Denver Broncos for Courtland Sutton and pick 6.195.

NFL teams lose their minds when it comes to QBs, so I'm staying away from that one.Jizz Mop wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 8:27 pmWager #2:bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 8:17 pmI just drafted for the Colts in a Twitter draft. I also passed on QB. Their roster is so so bad and so so depleted. Their best defensive player may never recover from last year’s injury. I 100% support them tanking for ‘24 they’ve got a great shot at an elite QB prospect next year. Rebuild the roster this year bring a QB in a better situation next year.
We’ve already got the “Skoronski won’t be taken before pick 17”
Can we add “Colts won’t take a QB at 4?”
Real life draft I’m talking about

Just pick Peezy Jr already B2B
I think Jones will likely be there at 32 but YMMV.
I also do not think the Steelers pick a OT in the 1st 2 days but that is just me
TB will listen to offers for 1.19.

I had two OTs remaining I had in the top tier and I counted 3 teams between 17 and 32 who have gaping holes at OT. Couldn't count on trading back up, especially with limited resources this year.
You could be correct about OT but I look at what they are building on the OL and the fact they are telegraphing they're going to run it a lot... and that is the weakest part of a very weak skill set their two existing OTs have. Add to that: they have no backups worth a crap.

For what it’s worth, I like the Jones pick.
Massive. Is he the guy at 17 and not 32?
Idk
But he might not be there at 32 so….

If he was the highest rated player on your board, then he was the highest rated player on your board. No need to count past that. If you were trying to optimize positionally to set up your next two picks, i frown at you sir
But yeah, premium position + all american + some well above average nfl tools + still pretty young seems pretty justifiable at #17 overall.

Okay, so B2B picked the new Steelers RT.
I guess Dan Moore's job is safe, just like I expected, in 2023.

Seattle looking to move back from 1.20. Make an offer.
We'll see if that happens. Moving Dotson from RG to LG ended up an absolute disaster. Wouldn't be surprised to see Dotson go somewhere else and play great at his natural position.Steelperch wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 3:39 pmB2B moved Chuks to LT just as the Steelers will do if they draft a RT
Don't know at all if Chuks can play LT.

It's that NCAA completion percentage that would worry me with Richardson. It's the thing that defines the boom/bust potential here. Allen is really the only modern-era outlier.Pabst wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 2:29 pmAnthony Richardson is giving me big-time EJ Manuel vibes....except Manuel was far more successful in college.

That said, I can see why a team might take that HR swing.
I fully endorse both the Steelers and Lions picks

Well, if the Steelers draft Jones and plug him in at RT, the competition between Chuks and Moore at LT should be interesting.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 3:48 pmChucks actually played LT. Again, I'm not saying I'm some big fan of Moore. I believe the Steelers like Moore a lot more than the folks here think they do.
So we'll see.

Chuks' skill set has always seemed more suited to LT than RT to me, where Moore seems like a try-hard guy without the skills to really excel at LT. Not sure how Chuks got stuck at RT, but I think it'd be worth it to try the switch, and Jones literally blots out the sun, with some rare physical tools for someone of that size.

Moore would be a fine swing tackle backup
Can some one help me remember: didn’t Chuks play some LT early in his career? I may be wrong about that, although the team has talked so many times about how they view him as a better LT.

Moore would definitely be a nice depth option on a more high-functioning OL.

In the meantime, the Steelers have traded Kevin Dotson to the Colts for pick 6.192+ TE Andrew Ogletree.

I believe Chuks did play some at LT. My theory on how he ended up at RT is based on his limited football experience. IIRC, he only played a few years of football after moving to the US. I think they saw his natural physical ability to play LT, but quickly realized he wasn't there mentally (not req. IQ, but football IQ) -- RT being easier to play (mentally/experience-wise) than LT. My guess is after his time playing in the NFL, years of practice, working in the O line room, ect., they may now see he's experienced enough to make the move more successfully.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 3:56 pmMoore would be a fine swing tackle backup

Moore was just a 4th round shot at filling in at LT during that time, with hopes that he MIGHT work out there. I think (hoping) they've come to the realization he's not gonna cut it and they HAVE to fix it -- thus, the recent attempt at O. Brown.
I think we've got the right man (Weidl) to fix it, though. That's half the battle, imo.
Dotson and Bush... if it was possible to re-draft Derwin Gray, it'd be coming.

Derwin Gray wan an amazing prospect for the Steelers
He’s on the Birmingham Stallions which blows my mind….a talent like that NOT in the NFL
I’d send some feelers out and see if he’d want to run it back w us
I remember him playing on left side yesbradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 3:56 pmMoore would be a fine swing tackle backup
