Terrell Edmunds is outta here
Re: Terrell Edmunds is outta here
Terrell Edmunds signed a 1 year, $2,000,000 contract with the Philadelphia Eagles!
That should tell everyone everything they need to know about how we felt about him, AND how the league felt about his play/value.
I've always felt he was below average (based on what my eyes saw on every single one of his pro snaps). He did improve, but an upgrade from there to just slightly below average doesn't cut it. Obviously, our FO (and the rest of the league) saw what I saw over the past 5 years -- they just corrected the situation much, much slower than I would have.
Many folks here kept saying...."he's okay, average, slightly better than average, improving, or even good at his job. And, that he was okay for a 1st round pick, because not all 1st rounders work out or become stars, so we should be happy about having him; not worry about it if he comes back or that we'll even be sorry when he's gone. I wanted no part of him being back.
He just took a 22% PAY DECREASE in the prime (his 6th year) of his career to play on another team. And remember, many here think "he's improved each year." What does that really say? To me, it says that he's not very good at his job and the rest of the NFL doesn't think he is either. I mean, it's not like he's a pretty good player that carries baggage or something, you know, so he has to end up playing for less than his true value. Just the opposite actually: by all accounts, he's a good citizen, doesn't miss plays, and a decent locker room guy, so what gives? Again, all signs point to the fact that he's just not that great at his job -- what else could it be, right?
I won't call him a bust (Bush, Burns and others), but I certainly won't ever call him close to a decent or okay 1st round pick, either.

Perhaps he will play better, under better coaching, which I argue the Eagles have, but most likely, Edmunds is a better athlete than football player.
Yes, he was over drafted.

Terrell Edmunds signed a 1 year, $2,000,000 contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, including a $250,000 signing bonus, $600,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $2,000,000. In 2023, Edmunds will earn a base salary of $1,080,000 and a signing bonus of $250,000, while carrying a cap hit of $1,881,764 and a dead cap value of $600,000.
This was from a site called spotrac.com. They are reliable.
Frankly, I did not think anyone would sign him. But if spotrac says so it is so. Of course, he did'nt exactly break the bank.
Oh, BTW! Has anyone noticed MT is becoming very visible [commenting] over the recent events. It figures

He did what Cam Sutton did: signed a one-year, "prove-it" deal in hopes that next year he'd get a more lucrative deal.

If my memory serves me correctly, Terrell Edmunds did not do short shuttle at either the combine or his pro day. He was happy to show off his straight line speed and his leaping ability which no one questioned him on. But, he completely ran away from lateral agility tests. Why? Because he has none. You can see it on his college film and it showed up time and again in the NFL.
The Steelers were flat out negligent in ignoring this key item. Too often we have either just not done all of our homework on a pick or stuck our head in the sand when the evidence was in front of us (Jarvis Jones).
I'm praying Khan and Weidl take a more thorough approach to evaluations.

I've been bitching about his utter lack of COD skills forever! A perfect way to explain Edmunds' COD skill deficiencies recently dawned on me. Anyone ever see that Clint Eastwood movie "Trouble With The Curve"? That's a perfect example of Edmunds' COD issue. MT was so in love with Edmunds (and his family) that he never wanted to see that he had 'trouble with the curve' (i.e. horrific COD skills).
Hopefully you're right, and Weidl and Kahn (Clint and Amy Adams' characters in the movie) are much more thorough than Tomlin (played by Matthew Lillard -- he's played Shaggy in Scooby-Doo movies too if that tells you anything
Ha. I was flipping through the channels a little while ago and that movie was on. Got sucked in and watched.
Great example as it really does describe Jibbaroo.
He far too often gets sucked in by bright shiny lights.
He’s like a moth to flame when he falls in love with a prospect. Ignores the heat and flies right into the fire.

This years moth is Trenton Simpson.
I agree. He can run, but he's slow to recognize plays and he just doesn't seem that strong. I always like my ILBs to arrive with violence...whether that is taking on a guard or hitting someone in the backfield. He just feels more like a big safety to me.
