I think it was just a prevent a storming of the field messaging by the refs. Had that play been in the middle of the game they blow the whistle and mark him down at the 1, not the 5.

And the Steelers - 22 consecutive non-losing seasons. An NFL record.

Is really that long? 93? I've been keeping track in my sig but missed a few if your math is correct.Stosh-67 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 21, 2025 10:03 pmThe Steelers have not scored more than 7 points in the 1st quarter in 67 straight games. Good lord!
And the last time they scored more than 7 points in the first quarter, it was still not the offense, as it was Minka Fitzpatrick with a pick 6, that gave them 7 of their 10 first quarter points.
You have to go back another 27 games, 93 straight games since the Steelers scored more than 7 in the first quarter on their own offensive merit.

I used to like TJ, and I can live with a guy losing a step. What I can’t stand is a guy who made his money in the league more on hustle than pass rush skill getting paid and seeing that hustle completely go away. That and his whiney selfish attitude turned me off. His salary makes him a net negative to the franchise.W&M_Steeler wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 2:12 amHe'll come back and rush the exact same way from the exact same spot every play as usual. I'm not ready to give up on him yet. I hope he has a better performance next year. As for his contract, maybe they paid him for past performance in addition to the future. Idk.Steelperch wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 2:19 amI used to like TJ, and I can live with a guy losing a step. It's telling that they used to not be able to win when he was out but thus year they have played better with him out. He was trending down last year, and it was foolish to give him a huge extension. His apparent lack of hustle this year makes it even worse.Steelperch wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 2:19 amI used to like TJ, and I can live with a guy losing a step. Maybe he'll get a second wind this year if it looks like the Steelers could be competitive in a playoff game, who knows?
Do I want more hustle? Yeah. But claiming Watt was more about hustle instead of pass rushing skill is abused. Dude doesn’t lead the NFL numerous times in sacks based on hustle primarily. He did combine massive talent with hustle.Steelperch wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 2:19 amI used to like TJ, and I can live with a guy losing a step. He had a quick first step and a lot of effort. Most of his sacks came off beating the tackle with his first step, or good coverage and Watt eventually hunted down the QB. You can’t watch players like Garrett or Von Miller in his prime and say Watt had as many ways to win as they did.zeke5123 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 3:22 amDo I want more hustle? Yeah. Every time other NFL players are asked about the top pass rushers in the league they name Garrett, Parsons, Crosby and not Watt.
Yeah. He just..hustled his way into 100+ sacks.Steelperch wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 3:41 amHe had a quick first step and a lot of effort. Come on, dude. He had a great first step and bend. Elite bend. He had an amazing ability to attack the ball causing a bunch of fumbles. He also of course was great at the watt swat.
Let’s not retcon the dude into some rudy egg and hammer. Watt was truly a HOF talent.
I went to bed in the 3rd quarter. Missed the crazy ending. Am glad the Steelers won. I really thought they were going to get blown out in this game.
It's hard to beleive it's the same team that sucked it up so bad earlier in the year.

TJ should have that magic shot that causes him to sit the rest of the season.
The chemistry on D is better without him lollygagging and taking up space.
He fell of a cliff.

Am I making this up in my brain but ever since that stat that Tomlin elects to kick the most out of any coach in the history of the game on 4th down reached national attention, he's gone for it on nearly all 4th and shorts?
He pays attention to what the media and fans are saying about him.

Well if we could just hire a PR firm to get a full court press in the media about his abysmal usage of the middle of the field, we'd have a boxer's chance!Deebo wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 3:27 pmAm I making this up in my brain but ever since that stat that Tomlin elects to kick the most out of any coach in the history of the game on 4th down reached national attention, he's gone for it on nearly all 4th and shorts?
