DK. .. to the Steelers
Re: DK. .. to the Steelers
There’s 5 that appear to be above the rest, they’ll be gone.
For a team that wants to run 75% third round is too late.

I understand your point and it's similar to what I've already said about this offense. You have two very similar players in terms of strengths, weaknesses, and outright stupidity.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 2:24 pmThey’re redundant. They provide the same kind of benefits but do not complement one another.
But the Steelers already have a philosophy of avoiding the middle of the field at a higher rate than anyone in the league and teams basically can already just ignore the middle of the field against them. If you dump Pickens, you are in the same boat you were last year with one main guy and nothing else unless you dump another premium pick into the WR position or even more cash.
You don't get stronger by dumping Pickens and there's no ideal compliment to Metcalf theyh are going to get and utilize correctly.

He’ll Cooper Kupp is about to be a street free agent. He’s not what he once was, but that’s a much better hedge than they had last year going into the draft.
My point: you can use the asset (Pickens) to get a younger and financially stable version of the same asset. Since you know you have DK locked up, you might even feel like it doesn’t have to be a top 50 pick, especially for this offense.

A Pickens trade followed by signing Kupp and Rodgers could be pretty interesting.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 12:21 pmHe’ll Cooper Kupp is about to be a street free agent. He’s not what he once was, but that’s a much better hedge than they had last year going into the draft.

And let's be realists here: are the Steelers going to sign GP to a huge extension after the deal they just gave to Metcalf?
I'd put the odds at less than 10%.
So that means this year is GP's last year as a Steeler if he doesn't hold out and actually plays.
The smart thing to do would be to trade GP to a new team that wants to sign him long-term and doesn't want to risk letting him get to FA. Given his age and potential (especially after playing with lil ken and the ghost of Russell Wilson), I think he could net us a 2nd + extra. Like a second and a fourth or fifth.
The Steelers should be looking to get assets for anyone who has significant value that they don't anticipate either being on the team or being a factor in 2-3 years, which is probably the best case scenario of the Steelers being a true contender again (highly unlikely, they'd have to nail the QB position and either Tomlin retires or ownership just nails some coordinator and assistant hires).
They should be looking to trade Watt as well, but we know there's no chance of that.

Keep telling anyone that will listen: Bills should be all over GP. They have either 2 second rd picks or 2 third round picks. This makes total sense but I would try to make a deal with an NFC team, preferably a dumb one like the Cowboys who would think GP solves Dak's deficiencies.
