Roster move
Roster move
Steelers release Tevin Jones and promoted WR Amara Darboh. Anyone know anything about him? Why now? Jones has been on the team for two years and know the routes. Not saying Tevin is good or bad - let's hope Darboh can play.

Tevin hadn't done much, but I'm not sure what he did to suddenly get released. Especially with these coaches, they hang on to people on the bottom of the roster for knowing the playbook like I hang on to that old expired milk in my refrigerator.
Must have had an off-the-field incident.

I guess two drops last week didn't help and maybe Darbooh brings something different

Hopefully he can contribute at least like Cain has,

Depot thinks Tampa Bay was trying to sign him to their active roster and we made the move to retain him.

I was happy to see some scrub from the practice squad on the field foe that crucial 4th down play instead of Johnson.
Made total sense...

Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 82 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.

Whats funny is this is par for the course for this staff. Why can't we release staff in this same way? Like a dumbfuck that calls for a fake punt only to change his mind mid-series and oopppsss! Or how about calling in two fucked up stupid wildcat formations that Failed? Hmmm...

That would be actually stupid. Ifthe Steelers thought that highly of him that they didn't want Tampa Bay poaching him, then why wasn't he on the Steelers active roster to begin with! If they cut a guy (Tevin) who was on their active roster to save this guy (Amara), then Amara was logically better to begin with! Makes very little sense to be, but hey, Mikey T. knows much more than Ijewelsongs wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2019 11:12 pmDepot thinks Tampa Bay was trying to sign him to their active roster and we made the move to retain him.
Replacing the Switzinator has proven to be difficult
The main reason is because that would create work for Tomlin; something he doesn't want to happen. It's little to no work for him to replace a player, whereas it would require a decent amount of work from him to release a coach and then find a replacement for said coach.Steelafan77 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2019 11:58 amWhats funny is this is par for the course for this staff. Remove player...two minute meeting wishing him luck.....done. New player moves up and another player picked up by Colbert -- equals almost no work and little direct risk for Tomlin. Remove coach and Tomlin has to find another one, even if it's backfilled by someone already on staff. Still has to find a replacement which is even more directly connected to him. He's the epidemy of a CYA man, always has been.

Jones knew our offense better, so he was brought up to the active roster the day we signed Darboh to the practice squad. Jones hasn't shown much, and now Darboh has looked good in practice and has had a chance to learn the routes, so they brought him up. We signed a new receiver to the practice squad today, so I think they are probably done with Jones.alancac98 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2019 1:15 pmThat would be actually stupid. Jones had a huge drop in the 4th Q that looked like it would be a big gain
Jones fucked up ROYALLY against the Bills.
He had a huge opportunity and he pissed it away with one terrible game.
Besides, it sure looked like Cain passed him anyway.
Hope the new guy is a DITR.

Watching Darboh's highlights, he looks like a very natural catcher and seems to specialize in one-handed catches.
Looks to have good size and better than average speed (at least game speed).

Darboh's highlights at scUM may look good, but they're about as much a tease as his career was. Pretty woeful from a consistency standpoint. I'm not saying he's worse than Johnny Holton, but he'd better also be a ST demon, or good at ordering hot chocolate, or something. Talented but underdeveloped and mostly meh.
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...
Much like Paxton Lynch, Darboh likely won’t amount to shit but is worth taking a flyer on due to his measurables alone.Ice wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2019 7:01 pmDarboh's highlights at scUM may look good, but they're about as much a tease as his career was. He looks like Tarzan and will likely play like Jane but once in awhile, dudes figure their shit out in the right situations.

It's a pretty good comparison, really; and I agree that Jones really blew it. Feel a little bad for the guy.
