I'm not sure how Deshaun Watson comes back from this -- with 22 possible cases pending?

Lawyer Tony Buzbee alleged that Deshaun Watson's misconduct happened "as recently as this month."
Watson is now facing seven confirmed lawsuits with five more expected to be filed shortly and another 10 women reportedly prepared to allege sexual misconduct during massage sessions. The Texans have yet to comment while the league continues to investigate these matters. As it stands, there are still "several" NFL teams — Panthers, Eagles, Jets, Dolphins, 49ers, and Broncos — that remain "extremely interested" in acquiring Watson. This case will likely extend throughout the spring.

Wow.
Surely a suspension is coming at the very least.

That would have been nice signing. HOpe they have their eyes on someone. Still a lot of RB talent out there for good prices.

I think Anthony McFarland just turned 23 so he is still a young pup and maybe he will impress next year when things slow down for him. As far as Conner goes I love the kid and if he wants to come back as part of a tandem backfield with the rookie they draft at a dirt cheap price, I would welcome that move. I have no idea what to expect from Bennie Snell next season. The lone player without Matt Canada roots in the RB room last year.

I think this kid's a great reclamation project candidate for Tomlin. Fixing him is probably what Tomlin is best suited for. He's young, but the kid seems somewhat intelligent at least. I would think if Tomlin, Zack Banner and maybe a guy like Max Starks could get in this kids ear, they might be able to help him, and, in turn, help the Steelers. He has talent (and major size) to be a very good O lineman in the NFL.

I know the saying, you can lead a horse to water.... but it's worth a shot for a team that is really light on OTs. Kids from NY and seemed to really miss his parents/family (he probably has other issues too). At least Pittsburgh is closer than TN and MIA. Someone with the right plan, connections and desire will turn this kid into a real player (if and when he's willing). Why can't it be us?

Dolphins waived OT Isaiah Wilson.
Wilson was late for his physical, on-boarding process and skipped voluntary workouts. He also "refused team efforts to help him to get his life on track" after a lost rookie year. Wilson lasted less than two weeks in Miami after washing out his first year in Tennessee. Releasing Wilson won't cost anything since his salary guarantees were already voided. Wilson has been a total bust since getting drafted with No. 29 overall pick last year. His off-field baggage makes him unlikely to resurface this season.

That's a good point. I guess what I will give Tomlin credit for is creating a good "family like" atmosphere on the team -- at least that's what a lot of player say.

IF one of Wilson's biggest problems is missing family, maybe the PS organization is a good solution. Not sure about NASH (a good ol' boy town), but I doubt MIA has that family vibe. Kid's young and Tomlin has a ton of experience with that. It's not like the kid has been getting in trouble off the field that I know of. Maybe he's young, immature and lost or maybe he's just lazy, idk, but it's worth a shot, imo. Nothing to lose, lots to gain!

I agree that there is no risk, but I can’t count on Tomlin to fix anything.

I was optimistic coming into this offseason even though we were likely to see a significant exodus of players. There were ways to create tax space, which were accomplished. Get to FA and Colbert and Tomlin have done nothing to improve the team. Tomlin claimed they can't keep doing the same things and expect different results, yet not willing to take some small calculated risks in FA to plug holes. Legitimate starter needed for RB, C and NT with quality depth needs at OT, TE, ILB, OLB and S. It's early in the FA process but there's not a ton of reason for optimism so far. A lot of good players have gone for cheap deals (~3M per season) that could have made significant contributions. A few FAs worth looking at, with varying price tags:

RB Damien Williams
RB Brian Hill
NT Danny Shelton
NT Lawrence Guy
EDGE Benson Mayowa
ILB Tahir Whitehead
S Jahleel Addae

Que the Steelers signing him (for 1.5 to 2 times his market value) in....3....2....1....

________________________________________________

Broncos released TE Nick Vannett.
Vannett caught 14 of his 23 targets in his one year in Denver. Incredibly, the Broncos paid Vannett $2.25 million in 2020. He's bounced around the league since he caught 29 passes for the Seahawks in 2018, and will probably catch on as a team's TE2 or TE3 in the coming months.

I have no idea what to expect from Bennie Snell next season. The lone player without Matt Canada roots in the RB room last year.
“Benny Snell football” is a cool catch phrase and we have a coach that above all else specializes in cool catch phrases.

In other words, he loves him some Benny Snell and I expect him to be part of the mix this year.

Absolutely correct 95. And I fear that Cool Shades will be A OK with Snell as his workhorse going into 2021.

With Bud getting his big contract in Tennessee, that arguably leaves a roster hole at EDGE.

https://sports.yahoo.com/ryan-kerrigan- ... 48205.html

Ryan Kerrigan is an intriguing option. He looks like he was born in a weight room, and began hammer curling as a toddler. Potential for a Kevin Greene like acquisition for the Steelers here?

https://www.behindthesteelcurtain.com/2 ... gency-sign

The market for Jadeveon Clowney sounds rather cool at the present time, at least compared to what it was in past years.

Highsmith flashed as a pass rusher, so I'd pass on defenders who have a specialist appeal like Justin Houston, Carlos Dunlap or Aldon Smith.

But a guy like JC who excels as a run defender and has other versatility could make sense.

Losing Dupree to the ACL injury last season impacted Pittsburgh's defense in a negative way. It lost a significant measure of its physicality. Is there a better option to fill that void other than Clowney?

Melvin Ingram is still unsigned, I believe. Better player than Kerrigan, cheaper and more productive than Clowney.

Nick Vanett, 3 years with Saints. Luck of the Buckeyes, this guy's got it.

Perhaps you were unaware that Kerrigan is the Football Team Franchise’s all time sack leader? He was pushed out of a starting role by the Sweat – Young movement along the Washington defensive line over the last couple seasons. His situation doesn’t seem all that different from how Greene got phased out in Los Angeles because of a change in defensive philosophy.

I have never, I repeat NEVER seen a Steelers RB go down easier than McFarland.

I expected a Willie Parker level of toughness when McFarland was drafted. Possibly a similar player.

Instead, we got a Richard Simmons level of toughness.

Yeehj. Up until a few years back, Jason Gildong was the Pittsburgh Steelers' all time sack leader. What's your point? Maybe there was a reason a playoff team with plenty of cap space went with a "youth movement?" and sorry, "perhaps you were unaware..." triggered me a little. I'll take that from William Pitt the Elder. Nobody else.

Kinda miss William Pitt the Elder. Hopefully he shows up for a draft recap or something. Would be a great podcast guest.

Ice, no intent to trigger you my friend, honestly. … my point is that Ryan Kerrigan is a durable football player who has been productive at an historic level. At least, until the Football Team chose to make an infusion of youth.

What if he wants out of Washington for an outside shot at the Hall of Fame? Pittsburgh would make a lot of sense. Each of the past 3 seasons, the Steelers' defense has accumulated over 50 sacks.

Yesterday Art Rooney II acknowledged Kevin Greene as one of the best free agent signings in franchise history; James Farrior and Greene were names he mentioned. In my opinion, the Steelers have a void at the EDGE position, and Kerrigan is a player that’s not registering on everyone’s radar.
