Tom Pelissero
@TomPelissero
As expected, teams also approved the competition committee’s proposal for expanded booth-to-official communication, per source. A popular change that should lead to fewer errors with objective calls that are clear on TV such as possession, complete/incomplete, etc.

I am assuming this is going to be a help. I criticize Goodell a whole lot but I will give him credit for this. If they fuck it up like they did with the pass interference thing 2 years ago the I will give him shit again.

Does this just mean more de facto replay?

How is this going to help anything? They already regularly make highly questionably and confusing replay reviews.
This seems like another way to manipulate outcomes. It might SEEM like this improves perception that the game is called consistent with what we see. What we SEE. And therein lays the problem, since we already frequently question why we didn't see a replay or more angles at times.

I think if it is one of those calls like last year when we had to challenge the Cleveland int when upon looking at the replay it was clear that the ball hit the ground and the ref called it wrong on the field. It will now be a guy like a sky judge that corrects refs mistakes.

Still don't see the need. How often do coaches run out of challenges and can't overturn a clear mistake? That might happen once or twice a year in the entire league. Far bigger issues to address.

I dunno. Sounds a lot like a PR move.
Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the pigeon is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.

I think it will prevent people from wasting challenges on bullshit procedural mistakes.
