He also referred to them as Oakland. Which I do all the time and will always think of them as the Oakland Raiders.

Not surprising at all. I’d be willing to bet most players and coaches can’t make it thru most 8 pm ish games, other than the ones they coach. When you saw the players go on Mannings broadcast they were always saying they’d normally be in bed.
I figured Tomlin would be interested in whether he was waking up in the playoffs or not…
I also assumed he wanted to start studying his genius game plan from Chiefs 1.0 ASAP
Fans stayed up and watched the most stressful non-Steelers game of all time while he slept? Makes sense.

I know. My bad. Wtf am I thinking. It’s not like that game had any bearing on his job. I’m sorry. Good for him that he missed those 6 4th and long conversions. I wish I missed them also.LakecrestSteeler wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 1:34 amHe said he made it to the 15 point lead.Jizz Mop wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 1:14 amI figured Tomlin would be interested in whether he was waking up in the playoffs or not…

Let me apologize for being critical of our genius, well respected amongst the elite sports media head coach.
Guess I’m jealous that I endured it while he dreamt of a war of attrition game plan vs KC, while deep in REM sleep. Hope he rubbed one out before nodding off.

That was a wildly entertaining game Sunday night. Otherwise it was agonizing to watch. Can’t believe a kick at the buzzer decided it.

I fell asleep in the middle of it too.
I woke to the Raiders having a 12 point lead and felt good.
Then they kicked a Fg to make it a 15 point lead and YIKES!

By the time the game was over, it was well past midnight, right? Any right thinking coach would have started working on the next game immediately after the Steelers played their game.Jizz Mop wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 1:45 amI know. My bad. Wtf am I thinking. Don't you prepare for the best in that situation? At the worst, you lost half a day planning for a game that doesn't happen. Waiting until after the game... you're going to sleep anyway. You check the score in the morning and start then, if you haven't started already.
I fail to see what he gains from watching the raiders/chargers game.

It takes a lot of sleep to call 2 yard routes and make tough decisions to punt on 4th and 1.
I am sure that dancing after our game probably tired him out…

For shame facetime not keeping audio.

I went to bed when the raiders failed to convert the 3rd down on their first OT drive. Knew chargers would come back with their own figgie, and it would go the bitter end one way or the other after that.
One of his best, for sure. Although, he certainly had a ton of material to work with this week.Jizz Mop wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 4:33 pmPittsburgh Dad hits it out of the park

I have no love for Mike Tomlin, but I agree punting on 4th and 1 late was the right call.Texas Black & Gold wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 8:17 amThat was the correct call.Steelperch wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 4:00 amIt takes a lot of sleep to call 2 yard routes and make tough decisions to punt on 4th and 1.
Now...if Perch is referring to the punt on 4th and 1 in last year's AFC playoff game...he has a point.

I'm sure Tomlin woke up on game day a couple of hours before kickoff at 1:00 pm, sauntered into the stadium and high five'd his players. Surely he doesn't have access to as much film as he wants, so he really should have stayed up to watch the end of the raiders - Chargers game. I mean, he probably woke up on Monday morning at around 10:30 am. His schedule has no bearing on watching other teams play, right? What a lazy mofo.Jizz Mop wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 1:45 amI know. Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the pigeon is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.
OK…I’m going to stick up for Ole Cool Shades, as nauseating as that may be.
I’d assume that any post game work done on a Sunday would be breaking down and evaluating the play of his own team and players individual efforts from that days game. Plus, if any prep work were to be done, he knew that he was either playing KC, or not at all. So if they wanted to begin preparing for this week, they knew the opponent. It would be totally unnecessary for Tomlin to watch the entire Sunday night game. The Chargers are out, and if the Steelers would happen to meet LV, it won’t be until down the line, AFCCG perhaps, and there would be plenty of film available to breakdown, including their own game earlier in the season.
Really nothing to see here.

Criticizing Tomlin for going to sleep instead of staying awake and watching the game is both weird and stupid if the idea is that it has any bearing on his coaching.
Put this thread in that file drawer Swiss talks about that is labeled ‘Don’t give a Fuck’ or whatever he calls it.
Personally I DETEST night games. I’m on east coast time and have to work early.

I kind of assumed that coaching and playing your own game is sufficiently tiring that I never expected game planning for the next opponent would happen on Sunday nights. Is it really the expectation that Tomlin and the coaches have to be working Sundays after their own games as opposed to starting Monday morning?Professor Half Wit wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 11:57 pmCriticizing Tomlin for going to sleep instead of staying awake and watching the game is both weird and stupid if the idea is that it has any bearing on his coaching.
