…cloud Tomlin’s peanut-sized brain in how he approaches games week in and week out? Does it mean he still thinks defense wins championships and that putting together a sound offensive game plan is nowhere near as important as keeping the game close via the performance of the defensive unit?
Are the Steelers stuck in the Stone Age when it comes to football philosophy?

At this point I'm guessing his overconfidence in himself, and Ben, has convinced him all he has to do is get his team to Q4 with a chance. So his approach to games, especially on offense, is to not lose before then.
The smarter coaches have picked up on this, and particularly in the playoffs know they can come out throwing haymakers with little fear of getting burned.
Maybe now, finally, Ben will go rogue. But it's likely he knows he can't be superman anymore, and so I think he'll try to play within himself and the gameplan.

I guess the approach in wanting to bury a team as early as possible to make them one-dimensional was never a high priority.

How shitty will he feel if we beat them and advance while he goes home after forcing his way off the team? Not that I needed another reason to hope they'd win but that will make it even more sweet.

Stone Age is a bit harsh for Tomlin. We were number 12 in points per game in 2016, number 5 in 2017, number 5 again in 2018, you know what happened in 2019, we were again number 12 in 2020. 2021 we are 2.6 points below the 23 points NFL average at a number 21 ranking.
Stone Age is not harsh for Fichtner and Canada.
If we had JuJu we’d be probably 12th again. If we had a Munchak coached type of line we’d be top 5 again with Harris running and providing balance.
I think Tomlin will turn in a splendid coaching performance Sunday. I might pick him over all coaches for just one game that you gotta have and you are the underdog.
The game after that in the past has been the problem at least in the regular season. Since the safety rules changes it has not been as big of a deal. Think about what the week after a Ravens game was previously. It was a slobber knocker and the team was literally banged up and generally missing players and/or missing juice in the legs and missing juice in the violence.
Since the rules changes have been fully incorporated to include players now tackling properly and avoiding earhole-ing and knockout blows, we can play AFC North football and then play a big game the next week and have a chance.
If we punt well.
Score above league average.
And Spillane plays most rush downs, we can win Sunday.
Keep in mind that Tomlin said there will be significant changes noticed by those in coaching and playing profession, but they will be insignificant to those watching through the TV camera lens.

Fair, but given the offensive talent we had from 2016-2018, it seems almost impossible that we wouldn’t have had a top 5 ranking. I’ll give him a bit of credit, but then again, he did jack shit with it.
Re: this week, I hope a 36-10 drubbing wouldn’t write a script or blueprint for how to approach this week. It’s refreshing to hear he will implement changes. The best TE in the league will be joining that KC squad for this game. I applaud him thinking outside of the box in between his naps.

Significant changes that won't be noticeable for those viewing from the television? I guess that means actively trying to score points in the first half isn't part of this. That wouldn't be a subtle change.

You saw what our defense could do against the Ravens with crap punts and burning Bush getting gouged up the gut.
We did well because we had enough slack in the field position game. We bent and got our defensive shit together in the distance between punt return/kick return and our goal line.
If we punt better, and Spillane can stop the run better than Bush, plus overall better tackling than last KC outing, I think our added slack in the field position battle can unlock our defense and help the offense!
